take it slow and read everything and listen to every line a quest giver says? They are the ones like me who are still not even at veteran rank and have 100 or 2 hours into the game. If you stop and read the little journals and notes it makes it so much more fun.

I did that in the early release days alone! I'm still only VR 11, but have sunk a very large percentage of my time (Yes not something to brag about I know).
The quests are quite good, and the lore is sometimes good, sometimes meh, sometimes bleh, and a large section of our community skipped it outright.

Many people cheated to max level using scouting quests until they fixed that in the first week of release. I do believe every single person who did it will give some line about being competitive with the other cheaters (to quell the cognitive dissonance).

Also many just run those anomalies in craglorn over and over, I hear you can go VR 1-12 in a night just doing that.

I think most PvE focused players are not in craglorn yet, and still questing and finishing zones. While many of the farmers/fast levelers hit the cap too fast. So there is a big group of people who skipped content in the end game content, and they are doing that exact same thing again, skipping content. It is hard to find anyone to even do a quest with in Craglorn (all group quests). But usually 6-7 anomaly grinding groups spamming chat.

Ignorance is bliss. Then you hit Veteran Ranks.

Be sure to come back on the forums when you get to VR1 and let us know if you feel the same way as you do now, okay?

People will take the path of least resistance. Doesn't make them wrong. Some people simply don't care about stories or lore or quests. They simply want to get to top level to compete in PvP. And there's nothing wrong with that, either.

Not directed at the people in this thread in particular but I've never seen more rank sanctimony on the part of people whining about how other people level or play a game in general till I started playing ESO. And the way people throw around terms like "abuse" and "exploit" because someone opted to grind mobs instead of quests isnt just false, its obnoxious.

Play they game the way you enjoy and let others do the same. The vast majority of negatity and complaints on these forums are about bugs and class/build imbalances which are entirely valid complaints.

I agree... having learned the ropes and means to craft stuff makes them a tad quicker to level.

But when it comes to VR Leveling.. I'm stopping. That was just too overboard and a PAIN to force myself to VR level another character from VR1-VR12.

No exploration XP was the final straw for me as that should have been included in two whole factions, but force grind was the name of the game instead. Yes I'm pretty bitter that I couldn't play it "MY WAY" as promised by ZOS, but instead forced to do almost EVERY single thing in each zone to level.

I wonder what percentage of players at VR5 through VR12 haven't bothered to do Cadwell's quest? That would be an interesting stat to see.

I'm VR12 Tamriel Hero (1000+ quests completed) and I still like the game. I pvp most of the time now, work on my crafting/gear, run dungeons and am enjoying getting some achievements (I want dyes). I read 80% of the quests the first time through, but I am reading and listening to all of them on my alt.

I was fortunate to have leveled before they screwed the VR difficulty in the Craglorn patch. Many things (solo dungeons, quest areas, etc) I cleared when leveling, I can't even do at VR12 now, so I really feel for the people leveling through it right now.

(so much for the PVE-content in this game :) )

.. but what currently irritates me most is the current lags, massdisconnects and stutter that even prevent me from enjoying AvA in Cyrodiil.

I wallowed in the misery you speak of for nearly 2 weeks after hitting VR1. Barely logged in except to check researches or feed the horse. Run a few quests, go ugh and log out. Come *** on the forums. Took me 3 weeks to get to 50. Caught me at a time when I had lots of play time and I constantly could not wait to see what was next. Took me 2 more to get VR2 because of this.

Last couple of days it's been a lot better tho since I've had what's amounted to a two week break from serious play. I think the first 50 levels are so easy and so easy to inhale if you put the time and effort in that when it does slow down in the VRs it just hits you wrong. You aren't just getting hit with a change in difficulty and the time it takes to advance, but you are also probably a little burned out on questing having just done so much to get there. Then the brain considers consciously or unconsciously that you have twice as much as you just did ahead of you and in the factions that you specifically didn't choose at that and the game gets rather un-fun rather suddenly.

But laying back and taking kind of a break totally recharged my batteries for the veteran levels. Little over halfway thru VR2 just from my last two play sessions. A couple of curb stompings from healers or multiple range npcs in 3 packs aside, it's been really fun. And I say that as a Bow/DW stamina NB. I do admit, the slowness of training points now really sucks. To me, that's worse than the levelling speed.

You may just need a break and come back fresh to have more fun.

I get that and I believe the same thing. If someone got to vr10 in a few days from exploiting something but they are having fun then by all means enjoy. What I'm referring to here is the ones that hit max level,,skipped the whole mest of the game and say the game lacks this or that. How would they know? They didn't actually play it. All I can go by is what I have experienced and I know in order to really form an opinion on game you must play what the developers gave you. You can't skip it. It's eating a Oreo cookie but throwing out the filling and then saying Oreos suck. Well ya of course they are gonna suck without the filling.

Actually most people are around vr5 to vr10 atm depending on how slow or fast you went if you didn't exploit xp just to level.

How do I know this? Friend's list. It's not just a coincidence that I got many of them early access and played with them since then. We're all about the same level and same area.

I stop and take my time but I don't read every single leaflet. Even if I did, that wouldn't take too much more time. I'd still most likely be where I am minute a VR level.

Oh here we go again. The only proper way to have fun and play the game correctly is to read all the books and smell all the flowers. AND most definitely if you're not even VR level, you get extra points!
Right, thanks for telling me how the game is enjoyed the most.

I have not read any of the books, only clicked them to level up skills and I don't care about lore, never played any of the ES games before. FYI I have VR8 templar and lvl43 sorcerer.
But guess what? I'm really liking this game and have played it almost everyday since 5 day early access.

The best way to enjoy this game: turn off the computer, take your girlfriend and go for a walk, than take her out to a candlelight dinner.

Of course this makes as much sense as playing the game in single player mode and not use Multiplayer features. This pile of roses is a mmorpg. You normally play such games for the multiplayer features, not to read badly written prosa and even worse poems...

Funny , i listened to every single quest on my templar , i did enough quests on each zone to get their achivs and yet , im vet 10 , and i did not even play for 2 weeks.

I just do quests and complete all the dungeons/anchors/world bosses...

Funny how i did all that normally and still got to vet10 eh.

I like the game. But i won't read any books. I also did not do that in previous TES games (Except in Morrowind i did read "ABC for Babarians")

I am VR6 and i played casual. Craften tons of potions which i used and also food. Listened to 70% of the quests so far. (100% of DC my main alliance and maybe 50% of AD which i don't care about because i don't want to help enemies and found most of the quests not fun)

I played from 5 days early access and all my friends/guild are about same level as me and we don't rush/exploit or whatsoever. I didn't even quest from lvl 43 (when i finished coldharbour) to lvl 50 because i didn't want to go to VR area. Instead i only PvP'ed and it took a while to get to 50.

Game is 3-4 months old. being VR5-6 is normal.

I'm sorry but I don't think some here get what is being said, what I'm saying. I am only talking about ones who got to max level within a week and now complain the game was lacking and that the game had no good story or whatever. I just can't see how one would know what's lacking if they didn't even play through it.

Angry joe is one of those. He is a reviewer who should know by now to not put out reviews when he hasn't even played most of the game. I think his highest level character was level 30. He complained about so many things that were actually already fixed by the time he made his review, edited and put it out.

Here's the thing. I don't like wildstar. For some reason it's not for me. Guess what? I don't go to the wildstar forums and make posts about how it sucked. Why? Because I didn't really give it a fair shot and I have no right to form an opinion because of that.

I am also tired of certain people comparing ESO to WOW, a game that has been out for over a decade, that has established itself and had time to grow and form into what it is today. Eso is a baby and babies need be taken care of. At least let an mmo be out for the minimum of 6-12 months before judging. Truthfully I don't think an mmo really finds itself at least for a couple years.

All that said I think eso on console is going to a hit. Especially if it goes free to play which I'm totally against but truth is people will play it just because it's free to play. The only thing I'm a little scared of is Destiny being launched with it. For some insane reason Destiny is being labeled the best game of all time even though only 2% of the gaming population actually played it at some event. It does look promising though but it's for sure the most hyped game of all time and people buy into hype leaving other games with no players. Most people
do not have time for two big games like this. I know I can't shuffle, a job, life, a fiancé, work, school and 2 games lol.

Every game has those people who try to play a MMO as a single player RPG and enjoy the experience. ESO's MMO elements are what let a lot of us down, and the constant nerfcoaster coming from these idiotic devs doesnt help.
