Why is this game getting so much hate?

I have been.. lurking the forums since 1.1.2 dropped, with my PC being weird and the fact I don't have the stablest internet at the current moment as it's being upgraded, I've had plenty of time to read threads on the forum.

But really, you're all sitting here, putting down this beautiful game, I mean.. it's like you're dumping dirt onto a rose before it can even bud! Give the game time to grow, it'll take time, and dedication for this game to reach it's potential. You have to remember The Elder Scrolls was based on Single Player, Zenimax have tried to keep that experience but, make it into a MMO, which is what a lot of people wanted.

Anyone who is currently dropping subscriptions because the game isn't perfect.. I have no words for. Because that's the attitude that's killing games, you cannot call yourself a gamer, if you do that. I personally will keep renewing whenever I can, just so I can sit back and watch Zenimax transform this game, into a new-age MMORPG.

While on that subject, this isn't WoW, or even close in fact.. it needs to stay away from WoW mentality, the game should not be a cakewalk, cherries and cupcakes.. it's a war-torn era with everything going crazy, and I love that feeling, getting wrecked by a trash mob? AMAZING! I'm yet to see one MMO where a trash mob can kill you, even in swarms. This game I have died to a few *cough* I was punished for not paying attention, when in other games I can just auto it without dipping under 80% HP.

Why are you guys complaining about that? It's great, and sadly Zeni is listening to the masses of crying trying to transform it into another WoW clone. Alas as my post draws to the end, I also want to point out, this game is lore based! Get max levels out of your head and enjoy the literature. Because it's amazing.

I understand that you wont enjoy everything Zenimax does, but that's not a reason to unsubscribe and call the game dead, I've been watching live-streams and still see a lot of players, you're complaining about end-game content, yet I know for a fact you grinded mobs to reach that level, you have no one else to blame but yourself, it will be added with time, it's an MMORPG, not a singleplayer.. it needs content delivered overtime, not all at once.
Games that release everything at launch have nothing left to grab players back later on.

It's not as long as I wanted as I didn't want people to skip it.

Thanks for reading and excuse the semi-rant!
Kind Regards,
Millionaires.

    Why?

They made the mistake of putting Elder Scrolls in the game title.

People have expectations of the TES brand that do not easily mesh with the apparent 'release-before-finished' nature of the modern PC MMO market.

It'a good game, I'm enjoying it and have played MMOs before so know it will improve... but it's been a while since such an anticipated MMO was released... many will not know/have forgotten how troubled releases are, and many others will have been drawn in from the TES single-player market.

    i agree, kinda.
they still could have delayed it another month and fixed a ton of stuff.

Your problem is you see the world the same way a Toddler does. They do not realize people cant see what they see. They simply expect them too.

Just because you experience something a certain way doesnt mean others are. The hate is legitemate at this point.

Actually @Millionaires‌ many of @thomas.k.grayb14_ESO 's points are more than mere opinions.

In fact, they're mostly facts, and examples of the sad reality of the modern PC gaming market where the ability to patch ad infinitum means standards upon release are far far lower.

There is a reason the console version has been delayed.

It worries me that the intention for this game might always have been to be the first console MMO, and that the PC version is in reality just a giant beta...

However, it's still a fun game in the interim, especially while other PC MMOs are at a slow part of their cycle at the minute.

MMO boards have been this way since the dawn of man.

Did you play WoW during the peak years when they had 12 million subs? I remember going to those boards and reading whine fest after whine fest. A new player reading the forums even during those prime years may have thought not a single player logged into the game due to the negativeness of the board.

What I can't figure out is how\why people can be surprised at the amount of bugs in the game.

It says TES on the freaking title. I've you've played any of those games you should know that they are all notoriously bug ridden, and brokenly unbalanced.

They're still fun as hell though. Oddly enough the bugs/crashing/unbalanced gameplay never seems to bother anyone much in single player.

It's probably because they can be fixed at the user level.

Because there are 1000s of players that has never played a TES game ever. They are playing this because its a MMO not because its a TES game. 2nd of all, a broken game isn't acceptable no matter what the title. I would fire one of my employees in 2 secs if they gave our client this broken of a product. Maybe because I am 36 years old (not a teen or college kid) and own 2 businesses, I have zero tolerance for selling a broken product and expecting customers to pay for it.

SW:TOR was only a few years ago and I suggest ESO is currently following it in terms of numbers of disappointed players 'leaving'.

Both were hugely hyped, not least by the players themselves, both had a very long and successful heritage, both sold massive numbers of pre-orders.

On release both has massive problems. Not the same type, TOR's servers were a disaster while ESO's largely stood up. However to make up for that ESO had a huge number of game-breaking bugs, many of which still exist and the infamous 'bank' bug is about the worst case of character corruption I can recall, ever.

TOR's fundamental fail though was lack of content, there was no end-game at all and large numbers reached it within weeks then had nothing to do, literally, if they didn't want to PVP.

In ESO's case the same can be said pre-1.1.2 and even Craglorn only adds a week's worth of content it seems, I saw a VR12 within 5 days of its release, and the entire VR grind is have a big negative impact on many players it seems: if we wanted an Asian grind-fest then Lineage still exists I believe!

So yeah, the most recent example of a over-hyped, content-lacking game wasn't that long ago.

@WilliamTee, It's okay, it's largely nonsense with a facile personal insult as the opener.

Not that I disagree with you but what your saying is somewhat contradictory.

In essence all MMOs contain bugs, and thus they are all broken.

I guess theres some unmentioned degree of how many bugs are acceptable or to what degree they affect you.

None of the these bugs have had any larger of an impact on my gameplay than in any other TES game. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.

My point is to me its in no way a 'broken' product.

If you own resturants I'll give you this example:

Two patrons of you resturant both fill out a survey for you.

One says the Pasta they had was great, not perfect but the best they'd had in years.

The other patron has the exact same dish and says it was god awful and sucked... and the cook should be shot.

What would you do about it?
