It's the heal from sap essence, it can crit. You can choose to go with the power essence morph but if you do that you'll miss out on the heal.

Did you not watch the very video you posted with this thread? The NB didn't use a Destro staff. He used One hand and Shield/Resto.... actually I don't know what kind of staff that was, but he wasn't switching between two different staffs. He switched between One hand and Shield and Staff.

So are you saying that only NBs should be nerfed because one player managed to solo a 4 person delve in 4 hours, when DK and Sorc and do the same in much less time and survive the regular mobs in a 12 person trial while soloing and no NB has managed that?

I haven't even heard about a Templar managing that either. There needs to be a lot more balance but I don't think one person's ability to solo something is a good argument for nerfing a class.

Just to people who are wondering: he was using 1h/shield to conserve stamina on blocks, could also have jewelry enchanted for lowering block costs. NBs do not have a Stamina return skill like DKs (green dragon blood), so he had to conserve stamina as much as possible to avoid being owned by mobs. If he stayed in resto staff mode, he would run out of stamina and blocks that much faster. He also has some stamina gear or food on to have a high amount of stamina (compared to a normal magicka build).

This is why he is popping Stamina potions on cooldown as well (it is a multieffect potion so it's red).

DKs obviously just use magicka furnace gear to spam green dragon blood -> infinite blocking and heals -> will not die.

If you are wondering how sorcs can solo stuff without stamina skills, that is because their destro staff aoe heals them and scales on their damage, making them invulnerable. Therefore blocking is less important for sorcs.

Dunno what templars do.

If someone thinks this is wrong, i'd be happy to hear why.

No. But it is the same logic being used to nerf classes you do not play. Templar can heal better than every other class. To imply they should have comparable dps to a DK or nb is absurd.

It's not the class abilites that are any OP or similar. It's the sunergy with class abilities and the restroration staff + skills from other sorces that makes it OP...

Saying that class X is OP is stupid because those builds that are a bit OP does not use only class skills...

If a NB can exploit and be this overpowered it is due a nerf. The same criteria you all apply to other classes you do not play. This being said, I wonder what nerfs are in store for the NB class considering they are solo'ing content not designed for it.

I am assuming you play NB. What suggestions do you have for nerfs? Let's be constructive and offer good suggestions to get NB back in line and not this broken overpowered.

So the moment NB solos a boss you all lose your ***. Okay, this boss isn't as easy as this guy makes it seem I could use his exact build with all the intended morphs but there is absolutely no guarantee I'll be able to actually beat this boss.

Sap essence which is the lifestealing ability the NB is using requires a lot of magicka and it gives around 150-200 heals back for each time he uses it he also gains 2 ulti for each enemy effected by it, however the heal increases however many things sap essence hits, this ability is *** on a single boss because you get healed for 80-100 you'll also only be getting 2 ult for each use of it and the veil of blades ult requires 200 ultimate to use.

Siphon Strikes is the other ability he uses so that he can sustain his huge magicka consumption but this ability comes at a 22% damage reduction, you'll also need to make sure you fit in 3 light attacks after every sap essence use but this skill also has a 10% chance to restore magicka on a skill use hence why he chose that morph over leeching strikes which restores health and can't proc on skill usage.

Cripple is his main damage dump, cripple is also a siphon ability with high DOT potential the morph he chose immobilizes the enemy and damages them on impact not much to say about that ability.

Inner light, basically every skill excluding veil of blades is effected by spell crit on his hotbar, cripples DOT, Sap essences damage and heal and volcanic rune.

So yeah I just summarized what is going on in the video for anyone that doesn't play a NB, also he's animation canceling that's why he's able to get in light attacks without getting wrecked by everything, don't believe me watch how fast his light attacks with the resto staff and 1h and shield are the moment he attack he has his shield back up instantly.

I will never play a rogue archetype using a magic staff build... EVER. If that is required to be successful then I'll pass. Show me a Nightblade soloing that content with a Bow and I'll be very impressed. I will even erect a shrine in my office and sing you praises every day for the feat. Until then all this thread does is point to the disparity in weapon builds nothing more.

Sounds like the staffs and light armor are part of the issue but we all know that OP list stands as....

Nightblades are so underpowered To be fair that guy did almost die.

Sap essence has become very good since the patch. The damage is still low, but it can crit, the heals can crit (i think) and it generates a lot of ultimate. If you keep siphoning stikes (almost infinite mana/stamina, add evil hunter against undead/daedra) on whatever weapons you want (you can use whatever almost, i use destro staff mainly for impulse), you can spam sap essence to gain ultimate, then spam whatever other aoe you want. You stay full health from the heals, if not use strife, which can be cast rapid fire. I prefer siphon spirit if possible, try to cast, clip with block Blocking very important.

Veil of blades will crit soon, which is good news. You can cast that on every pull in short intervals. You don't even need to block when that is going. Cast shades for 15% dmg reduction. Forgot Inner Light, that should be on your main bar for sure. Probably best to keep it on both, I always forget to recast it...

If it's any consolation, nightblades rock in PvP. Impale is probably the ability that kills me most often (or disintegrate which seems to proc all the time right now).

Took my lvl 39 nightblade on Celarus the other day and got lucky to triumphantly 1 vs.1 a VR 9 sorcerer, a VR 4 templar and a VR 1 sorcerer.

Ambush - veiled strike - veiled strike - shadow cloak - deathstroke - impale = dead PC.

Templar is great when it comes to healing and surviving. The problem with that is players don't play him as supporter and they are not able to make any competitive damage. He can be last man standing what is actually pretty nice but if every challenge takes forever its not even fun surviving.

Personally i think he should get a proper DPS line and get rid of the imho weirdest virtual spear ever ... Make this become a Pole arm or real spear class line and i make a bet this guy would have many friends playing an alt.

A misleading title - he isn't soloing bossES, just one. Better than the title of the thread on tamrielfoundry.com: "NB soloing Craglorn" though.
He isn't using medium armor from what I can tell and doesn't dual wield or use the single target class skills. Which are some of the major complains of NB players because they aren't able to compete in VR PvE with other (class) skill lines. Playing a NB as a caster in light armor in VR PvE or PvP (small encounters) was never the issue.
I am not questioning his skill and cleverly made build, on the contrary, he did really well there - but people seem to draw (whether unwillingly or not) the conclusion that just because a NB can solo a boss - even one from a four-man-dungeon - the class in general is fine in PvE and PvP. This "evidence" of NBs capabilities is from one specific boss with very specific behaviour. It doesn't mean you can do this on most/any boss.

This only works for 4+ packs (actually, works really well for 6-8 ). NB are underpowered when it comes to single target sustainable dps.

Just join any grind in Craglorn and you'll have to heal or drown yourself with pots if you don't want to miss exp in several rounds. Simple as that.

Ok OP, do that in medium armor / dual wield / bow (which are the major complaints about NBs) and then it will mean something.

Falling on deaf ears my friend. It seems that no matter how many times this is repeated there are those who will completely ignore the fact that not everyone wants to play a mage or a warlock, and a weak one at that when compared to a sorc.

Really neither here nor there as ZoS seems to be at least somewhat serious about fixing NBs.

When will people stop looking at class and start looking at Destro/resto light armor builds. Honestly That's what needs a serious over haul. O and give Templars some sort of magica Recovery as we are the only class that has 0.

Well just goes to show light armor and resto and destro staff needs allot of nerfing to do and to equal out heavy and medium and hey its not like its not noticeable the game is magika based to do massive dps and stamina is aparantley only for dodging blocking rolling cc'ing etc... -_-
