I see ESO gold selling ads everywhere!

It starts out in the game. I see it on /zone every minute, I see it in my in-game inbox every 15 minutes, and I see random resource farming bots doing the weird stuff they do. They sell gold at first, then they expand to cover everything trade-able in game.

Then it goes in the forums, we receive private messages that advertises gold, items, yada yada. So now the PM function of the forum is offline. Makes you wonder how they're going to find the culprit by preventing the culprit from showing any suspicious signs. It's like trying to find a terrorist by locking all humans up. Everybody suffers and the problem remains.

So I stopped playing, waiting for a nice reasonable patch with more features vs bugs. This gives me more time to watch youtube videos and browse the web. Guess what? "Cheap ESO Gold" is everywhere. It's on google ads, it shows up on youtube ads, it shows up when I'm buying my halloween costume, it shows up when I'm reading game reviews, it shows up when I read manga. It shows up when I check my supplier's website registration? It shows up when I search for my competitor's business profile??

At first I thought it's only game/tech related sites, but it's EVERYWHERE. What's your plan ZOS? If it's illegal to sell gold, make it seem so, make them hide in the rabbit holes. I don't see meth advertisements, I shouldn't see ESO gold advertisements. Do something about it. You have the resources to sue Oculus Rift, why do you not have the resources to make a call to google and arrange for the ads to be taken down?

*edit*
Thanks for all the advice. Blocking ads and opting out from google ads helped a lot. Once again, thanks, it's such a relief.

Here https://adblockplus.org this will fix that issue for you.
Adds are based on your browser history and cookies, I get EVE Online adverts everywhere if I turn off add-block, including sites selling me ISK and ships.
It's because adds are targeted at you.

Google tailors the ads depending on what it knows about you.

For instance, i once was shopping for an e-book reader. From then on, i got spammed with e-book related ads.

If it keeps sending you gold seller ads, that means...

    Really? Where?
I know there used to be quite a bit in the first zone of each faction, but lately I have not seen anything there.
Actually the last I saw was trying to sell Gold in german for PayPal money. And he looked more like a troll trying a "The game is doomed I quit" (inderectly via selling his gold) appraoch or someone who genuinly wanted to quit and make some money from it. Was Goldselling either way, so he got reported and ignored.

Plus we got the ability to use chatfilter addons exactly because those can be updated much faster then the game can (due to testing and downtime requireents).
You cannot blame the devs for you not using the tools they indirectly provided - only yourself.

I do keep receiving gold spam. It appears I get more if I do not report them (they propably track wich target's get the account banned fastest). The more I report them, the less I get. If I jsut start deleting them without report, I start getting more.

You only see eso adds because google remembers that you were interested in the game. So it just shows you all adds that are connected to it. That is not zenimax fault that you see it. That is the internet reacting to your search interest on google and youtube.
You can't blame zenimax for everything
Just use adblock and you will never see any annoying adverts ever again.

Lol yeah. Ordering some weird onesies for all my cousins.

I don't buy gold -.- I was told that they monopolised the rare racial market, and now everybody is selling daedric at 220k because the market price was set by the gold sellers. So I checked the site and true enough they sold daedric motif on par with their gold price equivalent of 200k.

I know that the price hike is mainly caused by the nerf, but my RL job tells me thats not the only reason for the shortage.

Man, I gotta clear my browser again. :(

@Turelus‌ Thanks! Will try it out!

Another threatening post; 'So I stopped playing, waiting for a nice reasonable patch with more features vs bugs. " Is it the gold sellers or the bug thing?

I play the game and only occasionally see something from a gold seller and ignore it, you in turn give the impression you are being personally terrorized and traumatized by them.

Correct, but Google Ads are also stupid and link the name of any MMO with a site that sells gold for it. Try it yourself, turn off any addblock programs and then search for a lot of MMO stuff, sure enough after time you will have ads about gold selling.
I have exactly the same with with EVE Online should I ever turn off my adblock, because I have spent years searching for EVE related stuff any sites with adds often show up offering me to buy ISK.

Seen adds for ESO on jobsearch sites, but not seen any goldselling ones yet. But you probably get them on gaming sites, so far I'm only using Dulfy, not noticed any ads for ESO gold yet.

PS. I think anyone daft enough to use one of these sites deserves everything that happens to them, and I strong suspect what will happen will be bad.

Saw a survey online of gamers saying 30% of them would buy gold online from 3rd party sites, if given the option.

It's big business, sadly. In 2005 it was estimated 100,000 people were employed full time in China farming and selling gold in World of Warcraft alone.

ESO is a MMO. MMO and "lore related solo content" do not really belong into the same sentence.

Maybe it is just the time you are playing. The worst I get is gold spam mails. I seem to get most between 6 AM and 12 AM german time on EU server. Even when spending hours in the starting zone I get next to nothing via chat.
Even at the worst times it was nothing the builtin ignore function + regualry cleaning of the list could not handle. I have not needed a Spam Fitler addon, and I run around with about a dozen addons (1 self created).
And even at it's worst that was only marginally worse then SWTOR shortly after F2P launch. And there they have 0 account cost and report/ignore works on Character level isntead of account.

I figure with less palyers around, there are less people to report you and let you fall victim to a semi-automatic banning systems. So they really focus on the off times (where most people do not play). Oherwise there is no explanation for the discrepancy in bots/goldspam I see and bots/goldspam I hear about.

In the beginning I keept hearing about "bots overunning the Dungeons"*, but I had to stay awake till 1 A.M. before I even saw one. And then I did saw them in big, multiboxing groups as people had been claimng about.

I think the most shocking thing about this thread is that there are gamers and people with decent computer knowledge who still see ads on the internet.

There have been add-ons for most browsers for years now which block adverts, including the the ones which appear before YouTube videos or during Twitch streams.

I've seen no gold spam in zone chat, at all, since the patch. And I have crafting characters parked in starter zones. It's been a real improvement and I find the initial claims (which I would have agreed with a few weeks ago) truly puzzling. I do also get spam email occasionally (less than one a day) from one obnoxious company. If you get a lot more you may simply have gotten onto their radar in some way - it could be as simple as them harvesting names from zone chat.
