I believe we can only post names for gold spamming that occurs on the forums through PMs, which are currently disabled at the moment. In-game gold spammers need to be reported in-game, so there's not much point in posting them here.

Well, since I'm not 100% sure if you're serious, I'll give you the straight answer as I understand it. They made an exception to their "Naming and Shaming" rule in order to deal only with goldsellers sending private messages on these forums. Players were encouraged to post the names of those senders in that thread only, for that issue only. Otherwise, you can't name any player/bot here period.

I am just curious as to what difference it would make if they were suspected in the forums or in the game. Posting their names is still sharing either way.

Well I think the rationale is that anything in-game has to be handled by the in-game channels of reporting to maintain confidentiality and protect the presumed innocence of players. Since the PM issue had to do specifically with the forums and not the game itself, and I guess they had no tools at that time to sweep the forum mail traffic for gold spam, they made the exception to get it dealt with as quickly as possible.

I think the difference is (and I'm not 100% sure on this because I never looked) the forum doesn't have a report functionality for PMs, so posting the names is really the only way to report them.

I doubt that the forum mods do anything with in-game issues, so saying so-and-so gold spammed in-game isn't helpful to the forum mods because they can't verify it; it is the people who get the in-game reports who can look at in-game spam.

Ok. So let's say I suspect someone in the forums is spamming me. I can post their name. Then I see someone in game spamming, and I can use chat to advertise their name. Neither one seems to violate the ToS. However, if I come here and post the name of an in-game spammer it does? 0_o

Thats odd. Someone in another thread had his post edited because he shown a video with bot names in them. The reason? Name n shame. Heh, kinda sounds like a fancy ingredient.

I am thinking that the entire staff of ZOS needs to have a sit-down so that everyone can be on the same page at the same time. They also might want to go through their entire rule book for the forums and make things a bit more refined.
