Where the hell are the necromancers?

I see lots of skele's, I see lots of zombies, I see Manimarco....

Where is my raise dead spell, black robes, black soul gems, chunks of flesh?

Any others hope they have plans for this in the future? Oh the build Ideas....Necro Tank, summoning minions to kill adds, or swarm a boss. Necro healers. It's a brave new world out there full of unused corpses.

It would be cool if you could select the skin for your summons. I dont even use them on my sorc just because I dont like the way they look. Also they dont really seem to do anything but watch people wail on me.

I 110% agree with this topic.

Here's hoping spellcrafting gives us the chance to create some necromantic/summoning spells.

Now it would be interesting if once they put in the Justice system, if you could roll a Necro and automatically have a large degree of infamy (or whatever term they use for being regarded as a cultural ***) just for what you do. And then you'd have to send your zombie into town for sandwiches and repairs.

Maybe it'll be introduced at some point as another skill line in a similar way to how vamp/WW works at the minute...?

Gotta agree it'd be a bit odd to let us be necros when so much of the main storyline thus far involves kicking the poop out of evil necromancers.

Of course, you kill a lot of vamps and WWs too.

Though truthfully ZOS probably could have done with releasing those skill lines a lot later too, in another expansion or similar... once they got them close to working :p

Pretty much the only place it's out and out illegal is Mournhold. Everywhere else, it's frowned upon. You can still do it, it's just ... not keen.

As a fear based NB, I can tell you where, gathering dust due to broken passives and a fear that has never lasted the tooltip time. It is the closest thing I could make to a necromancer but playing a gimped toon in vr6-7 content is just too much. Not to hijack the thread, just posting from the perspective of a player who has attempted to be as close to a necro as possible.

    Cheers!

I think I'd prefer it this way. As it stands sorcs are the only class that can have pets, and skill lines seem the best way to fix that problem. Necro gives some undead of course, maybe a Druid or Spiritualist type thing for summoning animal companions, that sort of thing.

The problem with necro and summoners is that they are the hardest to balance. I also do not think that anything less than 5 summons at a time is fun as a summoner. Outside off Diablo 2 and Diablo 2 type games it rarely works. The best summoner I made in a game similar to Elder Scrolls games was in Two worlds 2 unfortunately it become insanely overpowered very fast. I don't think they will ever add something like that and I think it's for the better.

If the sorcerer can have 2 pets out I don't see how a necromancer with one of 2 minions would be unbalanced.

A necromancer with only two minions would be a pitiful joke. No necro is a necro without +5 skeletons and zombies.

Balancing is tricky. The -PROBLEM- is trying to balance TOGGLE summons. They are the problem. The only reason I can think of, -why- they broke traditional TES standards and made the summons "toggle" is to appeal to "another" MMO. But that -other- MMO had actual command abilities, and the class was fully fleshed out. The Sorcerer on the other hand is only a half-summoner. But that's besides the point. They went half-way. And that. mixed with balance = useless toggles.

Set-duration is the way-to-go. It's easier to balance a powerful minion, when it has clear limitations, and a short window of threat. (Storm Atronach) Take the Storm Atro, then tone it down, and now you have summoning that is balanced, and true to TES. You have expensive summons that last for 30 seconds (increase to 40 - 60 with passives or whatever) + a high cost and cast time. So, you can't waltz into battle care-free. And you can't just spam them. Thus. their threat and DPS can be justified.

I think it's illegal in the Dominion as well, but not entirely sure. There are a few comments by NPCs during quests that make me think it might actually be against Altmeri Law, but no actual confirmation.

First off, lol, well done. Second of all, vampires are also illegal/plague to be killed but they are allowed so who knows. Personally I love the idea of some necromancers :D let's get other things fixed first though :P

don't count oh having a toggle army. ressing corpses of the fallen to fight for you (till some cap) would probably cut it. But I can see it would get problematic in some dwemer ruins where there is noone to turn :D

    Oh.....necro abilities!!!

    1. Use a filled Black Soul Gem to command the corpse of a fallen ally to rise up and fight for you (This could be toggled from the radial menu instead of rezzing them).
    2. Make it so the Ritual stone does what it used to.....send an army of undead sheep/chickens at someone once per day. (ok ok that's what "I" used it for, you could use it correctly if you wanted to and send other dead things at someone)
    3. Command Undead (Vampires Beware!!!) Target enemy fights for you for X seconds.
    4. Necro Ultimate - Bone Golem rises from the ground (functions like Stormy, but melee)

    More.....more....more!!!!

If you start the sentence with a singular noun (One in this case), you have to finish that sentence with a singular noun.

We is plural, even when the Queen uses it (because she's speaking as the Figurehead of the British Kingdom) (really should be a Queendom when we have a ruling female monarch)

Thus no we can't, because your sentence doesn't make grammatical sense!!

Now if you had asked "We can dream of a functioning game AND playable necromancers, can't we??!!", then the answer would have been yes. Shame you didn't ask that question isn't it?.

    1. It's called using Soulgem on others. Every Vestige get's it.
    2. Looked at high elf late game clothing? thinking about rolling a High Elf Sorc with Electric Focus - just because it looks a lot like a sith throwing lightning There is also a bit of disguises
    3. There is currently no split between white and black soulgems. They work quite well on the living. As every Vestige can tell you. One of the books has some fluff with the mages guild considering to "split" the soul gems and soul trap spells into two areas - the white and black ones we see in later titles. But, "it will take a few generations to be done".

Templer has a moprh to use corpses as part of healing spell.
Only minion/summon class for now is Sorc, but I heard they might add guild skill lines wich include Summons.
Nightblade has a lot of Siphoning Skills (I would put into Nekromancing).

Also, look at the VR Skelleton Disguise. Can't get more undead then this. Or Vampire.
