ESO will shut down if the lag is not fixed

This topic is not to make any fun about the lag we EU players have.
I cannot speak for everyone, but the people i play and played with, real life friends, noobs, pros, all they had lag.

THEY WILL lose alot of players if there is no ETA on the move from the EU server.

I really don't understand how the EU people claim to have all this lag when they are closer to the server than us Oceanics are to the server...and you don't see us all piling up in the forums going on about lag do you.

We're on 250ms-300ms ping to the server, and you guys are what? 150ms? 200ms at most? There's no way you can have more lag than us unless the EU has crappy infrastructure getting over to the server...and it would have to be worse than burrowing under the Pacific Ocean across the Ring of Fire (massive volcanic/earthquake zone which can disrupt things at any time and even break cables) all the way to the US, like we have to do.

    Greetings @onlinegamer1 ,

Could you please provide us with more information about your latency issue?
    • Which server are you playing on? (NA or EU)
    • Is that latency recurrent or punctual?
    • Is there a specific area of the game where you encounter these latencies more than any other?

    Thank you!

I am not sure if anyone realizes but the laag after the last patch has been more and more apparent. Skips in combat, lock ups are occuring more often.

Zone screens take longer, in fact one wonders at times if we were even still online. Even just coming in and out of dungeons can be a daunting task now.

I play on NA servers, this is even on light server playing times it occurs. I have tried rebooting, relogging, router rebooting etc. It seems more apparent after this nice patch we got that was suppose to improve things.

Are you talking about lag, as in the latency of your connection is slow? Or are you talking about the frames per second dropping and making the game choppy? Those two are symptoms of two different issues. One is related to your internet service, and the other to your computer's video capabilities.

Would be nice to know which one you are talking about.

It is good old fashion server lag, and everybody is getting it. Wabbajack is a horrible place to be right now. Molag Bal must have spawned a son called "More Lag Bal" and he is running loose on Wabba.

This game used to be able to handle hundreds of players on the screen without breaking a sweat, but now 50-60 in the same area is enough to make it unplayable.

This absolutely needs to change - and fast.

This is not negotiable, nor is it hyperbole ("omg, eso will shut down if they don't fix NB skills!!1!eleven!")

    This is real.

You will absolutely, positively go out of business if the lag (esp in PvP) is not fixed within the next week or so.

Would appreciate some acknowledgement from ZoS staff on this.

    LOL, what lag? - I give this troll a D. :)

I've got to be honest, I am on the NA server and have a crappy DSL internet connection and I have not experienced lag in weeks. I have on,y seen people complain of lag when they are located in more remote locations. Is this fixable without adding other megaservers in more remote locations? I don't know. Hopefully it is addressed so that everyone can enjoy the game!

It's also happening on Auriel's Bow on the EU server. Last night the entire campaign had a rollback of a few minutes followed by a sizable number disconnecting before being able to get back on (zone chat didn't mention anything, but the dozens of people at the entrance point shrine gave a clue).

I don't think this sort of issue will be fixed by moving the servers to Europe if the entire campaign is hit by it. They need to look at the ability of the system to handle humongous amounts of information and further optimise, if at all possible, what they've already got.

Many times when I'm going from across a bridge, getting off my horse, etc, I get a load screen that pops up. It's frustrating as hell. Didn't start happening until yesterday, it was after the supposed memory leak fix.

    1. Wabbajack
    2. Recurrent
    3. Anywhere in Wabbajack. All players in the entire zone are affected at the same time whether they are involved in a large battle or out soloing. This is extremely common and not in any way sporadic.
    • If there are 100+ players on the screen, ability activation plummets from a minimum of 5-15 seconds to 30 seconds or more. This makes the game unplayable. This is not sporadic and happens quite frequently.
    • It has nothing whatsoever to do with the machines players are using as it affects everyone at the same time. It is without any question whatsoever server side.
    • Sorcerer Bolt Escape (both morphs) quite often (several times an hour) bugs and stops working. This seems to happen more often during periods of severe lag, which is so often it may or may not be related. The animation triggers but the character does not move anywhere. The only solution is to log out and back in.
    • Healers are stuck in combat for extreme periods of time (5+ minutes after a combat has concluded). Please simply remove the requirement to be "out of combat" to mount a horse. It takes several seconds to get on a horse anyway, and if an enemy hits me while I'm doing that, I'm stunned--that's plenty of downside. I don't think you want to hear many of the curse words healers are flinging at ZOS these days. Just let us mount in combat and be done with it. There is no reason not to let us do this. The whole "in combat" and "out of combat" mechanic is pointless and punishes healers in a very, very big way. The frustration level is off the charts because of this terrible, outdated mechanic. Please just get rid of it.
    • Not being able to mount because of the horrible "in combat" mechanic is far and away the most frustrating game mechanic experienced by healers in Cyrodiil.
    • Being "detected" for 5 to 10 minutes after a battle has ended is also exceedingly frustrating. Just eliminate that part of the code and let us get back into steath when we go around a rock or tree.
    • Several stuns cannot be broken even if the player has full stamina and hits his CC break, such as Shield Charge and the Vampire feeding ability. NPC's at resources force an unbreakable long stun as well. Whether this is related to the unplayable server side latency I do not know, but it is outstandingly frustrating not to be able to break a stun.

EU people gotta realize NA is getting the same lag. It's not a latency issue. It is server load.

Yeah, server load delaying a ping request for 200ms.

I guess if its the same latency you wont have a problem with ZOS moving both servers to Germany.

    @ZOS_HugoP‌

As mentioned by several customers in several threads in the alliance war forums (the forums no ZOS dev seems to care about) the lag has dramatically increased since your craglorn patch.

Playing in cyrodiil in EU Dawnbreaker and EU Auriels Bow during prime time has become almost impossible for (according to map chat) almost all players. 2 sec up to 20 sec delay (no exaggeration) even when going solo in not crowded areas renders any attempt to experience pvp hopeless. I had almost no lag (just the 200ms latency which was bad enough) before craglorn patch. Now you just can not play during prime time. Period. 2-20 sec delay, rubberbanding, rolebacks, buttons not responding, people zipping all over the map (no walking animation display, just slideshow) and all the good stuff.

Adjusting setting and/or relogging doesn`t help at all.

Seriously, do you even read the alliance war forums?

Thanks for your attention & best regards.

LOL OP was being slightly sarcastic when he meant the week comment but I like Doom Threads they are fun to watch.

As for the serious note on the OP comment there is a lot of lag both in terms of PvP (I am a competent PvP player but when I can't move or see what shooting me with rubber banding I cannot defend myself or doing anything offensive lol)

Lag exists in large groups too but keeping it capped at like 8 sometimes 12 on a low pop area is ok

I do think this is going to get sorted at some point as people have pointed out its server load. They'll expand their servers and it'll get better :)

    Be Happy :)

Just unsub until it gets fixed. No reason you should be sitting on the sidelines while your subscription time runs out.

    - this wasn't happening before (well, it was, but nothing this BRUTAL) your dirty MEMORY LEAK HOTFIX. Also caused stuttering with which the game now feels like playing on 15 fps.
    - everything from weapon attacks through spells to looting is lagged by 0.5-2 sec. Especially visible on spells like Burning Talons, which now take about 0.5 sec to activate (seem to be "in queue" till then) and another 0.5-1 sec till they emerge from the ground (not to mention they fail to root half enemies - they then drag the talons around with them, not even slowed). It also means that trying to finish off an enemy with a staff attack fails in 3/4 cases, because your clicking will do NOTHING, in 1 sec you realize nothing's gonna happen and have to click AGAIN, which makes you take another hit or two..

I say this very carefully, and I would like not to be called names or a lier for saying what my game experience is.

I play from Sweden, got a very good system, decent ISP and play with no addons.

I do not have any problems with lag. The chat lag, the guild bank lag and before the fix, the lag to get into Cyro. That I had.

Apart from that, I dont even notice any lag. Even since patch, games seams "smoother" and VERY much better graphics!

I did get lag after the last patch, because of the memory leak. But since they fixed that....no lag to speak of.

I don't live in Europe so it doesn't matter to me but if you really don't have lag from the EU, then posting your traceroute could allow other players in the EU to see the routing and maybe could get their isps to optimize theirs.

I had this problem back in beta. Someone came up with a fix to change some things in Usersettings file.

Edit your "c:/Users/[windows_user]/My Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/UserSettings.txt" so that the following line:
    SET RequestedNumThreads "-1"
    reads
    SET RequestedNumThreads "0"

This is no longer in the Usersettings file.

Maybe the difference is that you accept to be screwed with having to experience such a crap delay. Maybe you should start being more vocal if you think thats a problem and stop making false statements like if you had any statistics about average delays for european players.

Either it, or thinking about why there are two servers and one is called "EU".
