Any reason why looting distance reduced?

Having to be on top of something to loot is so ...... ugh! Also I play a small short toon so again making looting tall shelfs now a jumping escapade.

Any explanation for this? Was it intended?

    I think it has to do with allowing multiple players to receive a roll on chests in dungeons. They stated that in the patch notes but apparently it applied to all containers.

    I think someone screwed up and made it for everything when it was meant just for chests.

    I noticed today that I can no longer loot the over head cabinets. I assume it's because of the reduction in loot distance. :S

    That would make sense given their ineptitude at doing a simple xp increase on VR mobs, instead making them VR 15 in difficulty.

    i was very upset when i saw that my reaching distance to activate items or nodes or barrels, ect was reduced by i significant amount. im still upset about it and think it's uneccessary. please put back way it was.
    best in slot: is the armor, weapon, clothing look, pet, or no pet, jewelry, race, class, skill choices, amount of DPS, and skin color best fit to you and the way you wish to play and makes you feel good and performs what YOU think it should be.

    worst in slot: what you read in zone chat, and forum comment, and forum thread, and you tube video, and live streamer advice, and class rep advice, and guild chat advice, and whisper told you to wear, and use for skill, and dress like, and use for weapon and armor.

    Oh for my tall Altmer, that is definitely a case of sidle up to it and hope I get the interaction prompt.

    Is there anyone who can now interact with the rearmost sack on top of low bookcases? Watching people try to do it is entertainment in itself, not so entertaining when you are the one trying to do it though.

    My wood elf is still having issues with looting cupboards, getting ok with jump looting. Fix ?

    You can jump up on top of the low bookcases if you come at them from the side. But not if you come at them from the front.

    Real PITA and an amateur developer move. It's a real shame that Z/B does not test their changes before they shovel them out the door onto players. Not fun, Z/B, not fun at all.

    If this was a way to combat bots, this might be strike 2, since the dungeon boss loot / camp nerf didn't help / work and just hurt regular players more.

    It's getting more annoying to me all the time.
    There are a lot of places that are just stupidhard out of reach overhead or with stuff in the way. I've gotten hung up in scenery a number of times wedged into a tight spot, trying to maneuver around furniture and then getting stuck behind an NPC that just wont move out of the way.

    And then there are the bookcases that are stacked doublehigh. I used to be able to jump/read them for books. I could do a quick read of the upper case at the top of the arc. Now I go into the same locations and I just end up reading the same lower bookcase a 2nd time because I can't reach the upper.

    I got several (many) skill upgrades on my older 'toons that way and it just aint happening anymore on my newer 'toons. I'm not saying that the skills are in the same places, but it's cut way down on my access to the places an RNG can be able to give me a skill.

    Lots of places my small bosmers can't reach anymore to even look for motifs, too, and again, considering the small window on a location you can actually interact with - it's a lot harder to activate that action.
    I know I've given up even trying to loot a lot of areas anymore, and I'm just not actively even trying to play that part anymore, either.

    Add that to not being able to loot NPC kills sometimes without logging out between kills in the last 2 weeks, and I'm just getting more frustration than fun out of this game investment. This isn't 'more challenging'. It's just frustratingly annoying.

    I'll easily play (and subscribe to) a game for years. I can see that I'm really less inclined to spend money on this game much longer if this kind of stuff is the kind of 'fun' I get in return for my sub.

    A small issue? Maybe, but it speaks directly to whether I get a chance at motifs and loot in line with the next guy, and that also determines how successful my 'toons will be in the future.

    My 'toons do poorly with the same investment, I'm disinclined to bother playing.

    Any plan to fix this, it is funny that even the feedback from Dev's via e-mail just agrees to the issues and how annoyed he was but seems unable to know where the issue is from and if there is any admission that this was introduced since the hell patch of 1.1.2

    I can confirm that it seems fixed on the PTS as of right this very minute. Don't know if it will translate to the live version of the game, but if you get a minute, hop on over and test it out for yourself.

    I'm not a dev or a mod. I can't explain their logic, if they even use it. Seems like most of the time, it's not applied. I'm just relaying what I've found.

    I guess it was done to combat bots, when you made the loot distance so short it broke all their scripted pathing.

    Have seen very few bots after probably because they think that all the hard scripting work is not worth the time.

    So they fixed this, but now nothing good to loot, most are either empty or your getting all this un-usable, un-deconstructable, un-sellable items. /sheesh!!
