PVP on screen messages (turn them off!)

deusAZMODAN
Why in Nirn do i have to see PVP Messages in PVE zones? This annoys me to no end, i dislike the PVP content anyway and I for sure do not want to see it spamming stupid messagesin teh middle of my screen. Turn that BS off again, please.
  • Damien_Uvirith
Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this... I'm on the Wabbajack campaign and I constantly get the gigantic messages across my screen about Tweedle1 picking up/dropping an Elder Scroll every 2 minutes (At times literally).
  • deusAZMODAN
Yes! Its stupid spam forced on pure PVE folks like me. Every time I see one of those stupid message I fight the urge to hit alf+f4. And sometimes it even comes with sound!

elderscrolls loves to put stupid messages up in my face

MIDDLE SCXREEN LIKE THIS SO IM OVERWHELMED

it's very easy to put all messages like the quests and all messages in general on the top left or top right of the screen a little bit discreet and not so up in my face middle of the screen. i have hated it and will continue to hate it untill they make it more comfortable. off to the side of the screen and gently note, so much more comfortable.
  • deusAZMODAN
anyone found an addon yet that turns those BS messages off?

The messages are because you viewed the alliance war tab. Just don't click it if you don't want to see the messages (Only thing you can do right now)

I don't know how much time it shows for but it eventually stops and doesn't show up at all if you never click the alliance tab.

Middle of the screen!? Please rethink it guys, there's gotta be a better way, one which doesn't involve blinding me.
Other than that I have no real complaints, really do love this game.

It cant be just the Campaign Window/Alliance War Tab, since I barely ever look at those.
But thanks for the headups, I will see if I notice any windows triggering the pvp messages.

    Wish it was this simple.

I never click the Alliance tab (Since about 4-5 days ago when this began), and the messages STILL occur regardless of what my home campaign is set to. It was originally Bloodthorn, but I switched to Wabbajack, no dice.

I've tried relogging, "full restarts" (And obviously, not viewing the Alliance tab), and the issue persists.

You are seeing it because it is a VERY important message that effects your character. What happens in your Cyrodiil campaign effects you everywhere, your character power, gold income, and exp progression. So when you see the message that an Elder Scroll is being taken or is just vulnerable in the open field its kinda big deal, They want you to know that at the moment something major is happening in Cyrodiil and you should probably come help your side and yourrself. Those Scroll gives your character a big power boost no matter what zone you are in. SO in your case it means it would make you much stronger in PVE. (or weaker if you lose one) If any enemy is taking your scroll you will lose character power and it could be months before you get it back. When these events happen they are really pushing the idea that you should come and help until they are safe.

The messages only pop up for players who actually have selected a home campaign.

And as the poster above correctly stated, it has quite some importance. because buffs from your factions status in Cyrodiil carry over to your PVE gameplay.

If someone was not interested in PVP at all. he would not have selected a campaign in first place - and therefore would never get any of those messages about scrolls being taken or dropped.. or emperors being crowned and dethroned.

I dont know for sure if theres a way to deselect a campaign.. as far as I know you can only switch to another one. maybe you just switch to a campaign that is empty.. Nothing happens there - you dont get any messages.

Just so you know. These are the bonuses you get from your home campaign. And they effect you EVRYWHERE.

Your side has the Emperor = You have alot more hitpoints

Elder Scrolls depending on which ones give you 5% offense or 5% defense for holding.

Controlling all your home keeps gives you 5% exp, gold, and other boost

Each additional enemy keep gives more bonuses, like 5% crit, more exp, more gold.

So yah even if you dont PVP it still important to you since it has big effects on you.

Regardless. When I'm running around gathering materials, RP'ing, or whatever it may be- these messages can be annoying as [snip]. I'm well aware of the bonuses given, the way I see it either stop the messages or make it possible to deselect your home campaign.

Not all players are centered around PvP. 3/4 of the time I have even spent there were gathering skyshards, lorebooks, and completing the quests while occasionally attacking other players I come across.

Aside from this- people in the same campaign (Wabbajack) do not see the messages, so I'm finding it hard to believe they are appearing because they want me to drop everything and go PvP to try and defend a scroll.

I have no interest in PvP, but I went there to get the 2 skill points by doing the tutorial quests.

So I'd like the message not to be plastered on my screen in huge letters while I'm fighting as it gets in the dang way.

Fully agree. Sadly, exactly that "to drop everything and go PvP" is what ZOS wants you to do if you are slapped by that ragbag of rainbow right in your face while trying to have a nice chill time in ESO. Very annoying.

an option to turn off the messages would be great, but if you turn them off you turn off the buffs those "dam pvpers" provided for you.

Then they should allow players to deselect their home and guest campaigns, and remove their buffs. Nobody is demanding people go obtain buffs for them. Some people may hold higher value of them than others. This is a fact, not to say PvP is unenjoyable, just that if players want to know what's going on in Cyrodiil while questing they should have the option and not be forced into viewing annoying messages. I'm quite sure the majority of players aren't relying on their alliance holding all the Offensive and Defensive scrolls and having an Emperor for them to be able to quest.

Or as someone already mentioned, moving the messages in general somewhere aside from the center of your screen...

    - the messages are damn annoying, and it seems to be bugged too, since sometimes I see them and sometimes I do not (though luckily most of the time I do not see them)
    - the buffs could be 10x as strong and yet they would be totally unimportant for my PVE gameplay, because as an individual player I can not influence if I have them at a certain time or not, to me as PVEer they appear totally random and neiter would I leave PVE to go to Cyrodiil because some dude dropped a scroll somewhere
    - pure PVE people HAVE to pick a home campaign to be able to enter Cyrodiil. Cyrodiil is (sadly) not pure PVP, but also has lots of PVE content. "Welcome to cyrodiil" gives a quick skill point, the dailies give some decent xp and cash and then there r tons of skill shards. If there was a pure PVE Cyrodill version, I would love to pick that one as a campaign (and yes, happily forfeit all those random buffs), but there is not

After having just sat here and watched literally 7 different drops/pick ups within the span of 10 minutes- it is incredibly frustrating and COMPLETELY unnecessary.

We get it- you get buffs from Emperorship and having the scrolls. Lots of people do not care in the slightest, does that mean people who don't enjoy PvP as much as PvE should have to deal with this extreme annoyance?

The fact that it seems to be such a minor thing to change but hasn't been addressed makes it more frustrating.

Well it would be a good idea if you (the gamer) felt invested in what was being attacked/taken. What incentive do I have to go into Cyrodiil and help? What is benefiting the realm other than the small offensive and defensive buffs?

Aside from those things that I've listed, what about the technical issues that have revolved around Cyrodiil since launch. Those problems have ultimately turned so many away from pvp in this game up to this point. Not to mention class balance.

I am not arguing that displaying the message is a bad idea. I am just arguing that right now, its not a good one.

Really I beg for a fix for this, im glad I didn't on early levels started to register for a campaign. When you're doing PVE like the mainquest etc is almost gamebreaking having that pop up middle in the screen, I get really mad with it.

In a proper MMORPG you have the ability to turn such msg:s off or on. Im a big fan of Pvp and will doing it hardcore when I reach endgame but NO,NO,NO i don't want this annoying msg disturb my cousy PVE experience, it ruins the whole atmosphere.

I see there is a long time since the discussion started and there is still no fix. Im sure there are tons of concerns but this one shouldn't be too hard to fix, make it an option to show those campaign msges or not.

I regret while I'm still not finished with the pve part that I registred and can't get away from this sin manifesting infront of me on regular basis while im doing story mode in heaven, fix not tomorow, fix it now , thanks in advance:)

Yeah we need to be able to turn these off. For a start they should never display when not in Cyrodiil.

And what ever happened to the minimal UI thing they were trying to go for, where information is not to be displayed on the screen? These big words every few minutes kind of destroy that vibe.

agreed. I think its a glitch, it disappeared for quite a long while then came back recently. I hope it will be fixed as the text and font is very big on my screen blocking my view, which at times can be vexing if in the middle of combat or reading quest dialogue
