For those with log in issues - Which Issue are you having?

Have been having log in issues since patch came out and there seems to be confusion about the log in issues , so taking a pole of which ones you have. These answers are from "log in issues that were answered in the boards"

I can log in but gets stuck on loading screen before character select.

I started this pole just to see what issues people are having. I think it's odd that I have read so many different log in issues on threads that some of them just didn't make sence. So I put them here. I'd like to know the majority of the issues and maybe what could be done about it.

I have no log in issue

After I used the repair function, my game experience in log in problems disappeared, so when ever a new patch is installed, I press repair just in case

Some of us with issues have done numerous repairs and re-installs, nothing seems to be working.

I get a 301 error.

I tried repairing and following this link. No results though. Submitted a ticket to see what they say. Haven't played in a few days because of this.

Granted that my loading screens are longer since patch but I don't consider that an issue cos I can get in anyways, just takes a bit longer.

Two things to try and I will not go into a lengthy reason as to why either would fix this issue unless someone posts that either fixes their 301 issues. If they do I will post what I suspect the issue is.

1. Change your DNS servers to Google's temporarily. Those are:

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

If you are unsure how or what I am talking about, Google - Manual DNS settings

2. Please note this one is strictly for testing and you should revert this change regardless of whether it works or not right after trying to log into the game.

Uninstall your Anti-Virus or 3rd Party Firewall programs, reboot and try and patch/login.


Why would either of these help and what possibly could have changed with just an ESO patch? #1 has to do with the way Zenimax(and really any modern online game, not just MMOs) sends out patching and shared hosted services. #2 is similar and some AV clients, particularly like Kaspersky that have Web Filtering have been noted to interfere with game logons from time to time because their Web protection notes a difference in the addressing or communication, like after a patch and blocks it.

Might not help at all but I find it very interesting only some people are having the issue and a total uninstall and reinstall doesn't fix it which suggests some other "in the middle" app or service (like DNS including your ISP) is knocking your down your client communications with Zen's servers. Error 301 in HTTP terms generally means the old address is gone and please update your URL (URI) information to the client. If for some reason (like AV or other Windows settings) your system is blocking the automatic update...you get a 301.

This could also be internal to Zen as they try and transfer you around their internal login servers (clustered servers for example).

My client doesn't start there for I can not log in.

My friend can open the launcher, but after clicking PLAY the screen goes black for 30 min until windows send an error message of app not responding. He can not even see the splash logos.

I get a 301 error.

Sorry for not posting this sooner but after running repair though the problem persisted it was not there the next day so I'm guessing a reboot after repairing helps.
