Cannot defend Zenimax any longer : (

Sorry but I have to agree and speak up about all the problems with Eso aswell ,
I have been defending Zenimax for a while and feel I have lost all grounds for doing so,

1. There Grouping / Instancing is terrible, I level with my Friend and at least 15% of the quests have caused us problems (v6&v7 atm ) *eg: we both go to turn in the items we collected, my friend hands in quest and they run off together to the next part while i am standing there. Its the first mmo that i cannot properly quest together with my friends. I can not see what quests my friends are on and help them if i have done it already. And the first person who hands it in quite often messes the second one up.

2. Veteran leveling is terrible. The Immersion for the game seems to be completely lost after you hit veteran ranks. you go from saving the world to mundane gather and kill trash mob quests..

3. Veteran Trash mob difficulty. I see some people defending this and its crazy , I am used to playing games like Dark Souls 2 and end game raiding on mmo's. I am used to grinding for hours on bosses and enjoy it . This i possible because it either feels rewarding for killing it and/or the drops and exp are worth it . all these are missing from the mobs in the veteran ranks. 2-3 gold and crappy xp for fighting for your life at level v7 is not rewarding! ...I did mention we have saved the world and defeated a Daedric prince apparently...

I am personally keeping my sub for another month or two in hope they make some changes. I am a fan of thier sound track, I think they have some amazing and creative ideas at work here they just do not work properly.

I really, really hope they don't reduce the difficulty of the veteran versions of the standard regions. It's the one thing that makes the whole idea interesting to me. I don't care about how "immersive" it is. After all, it's just an option for those that want to experience all the content with one character/combine all the achievements/want a bit of a solo PvE challenge, what with levels 1-50 being so easy.

I mean, I agree with those that want the other ways of increasing their veteran level to be as efficient (and the new patch apparently addresses that, what with increasing the Cyrodiil XP), but that's a different issue.

Introduce some kind of easy mode, for all I care. But don't change the one feature that distinguishes the veteran regions from the rest of the game.

    Welcome to the boards! :)
"You've probably figured that out by now. Let's hope so. Or we're in real trouble... and out come the intestines. And I skip rope with them!"

I can totally understand this and partially agree with you. I would not mind if the difficulty stayed the same if they rewarded us for the kills properly, I would grind on mud crabs for an hour if i knew I could get a green usefull set bonus top like the ones that drop randomly,(of the red mountain ets) that only drops from those mobs , however they basically seem to be in the way of completing quests instead of part of your progression.

The way I see it, having the option to play through all three campaigns with the same character is gimmicky anyway. Wasn't it even something that was added late in development, after some people complained?

Sure, they came up with a spurious way to tie it into the storyline, but looking at it with the story, sense of progression, immersion or whatever in mind, it all doesn't fit.

The difficulty level is the one thing that makes it worthwhile for me. Again: If, as many claim, you're more or less forced to do it if you wanna stay ahead of the leveling curve then that strikes me as bad game design, but then that's also a different issue that should be adressed by providing the players with additional means of progression to keep up.

(Responding to the part of your quote that I have highlighted with bold text) - apart from the fact that Craglorn is Veteran Rank content, and takes you up to VR12. Sure it is an option not to level Veteran Ranks, but it's an option that cuts you off from content. It also cuts you off from PvP - members of our group were getting one-shotted by VR12s (already!) last night, and as a lower level character I died frequently - there is little I can do in PvP at the moment, especially now NPCs are scaled up to VR5 - a large part of the game requires me to be Veteran Rank before I have a hope of fully participating. So it's not really that optional.

Its Matt Firor DAOC:TOA redux the guy doesn't have a f'ing clue and why he was ever giving reins to make an mmo out of TES boggles the mind.

I think the current problem is that ZOS messed up the latest patch so that VR mobs have gone from being much harder but doable with some skill to one hit kill monsters even for those with good health & appropriate skills/equipment.
