Patch- Crossfire/SLI Graphics Optimization.

glassunits_ESO
I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to whomever at Zeni worked on improving performance for Crossfire setups. My FPS jumped from an average of 28fps to 90fps. That's a huge jump! And not only that, but I'm now able to play with all my settings on ultra... I was sorely disappointed with the graphical performance of the game... Or more so my rig's performance (which made no sense) . I'll now be able to finish out my VR levels with graphic fluidity and clarity!

How do you display your fps in this game?

Yeah, I play with an Eyefinity setup with dual Asus R9 290X DC2s. Was only getting 45fps @5760x1080 with drops as low as 29 in cities and PVP. Now with both going and the optimisations I am humming along at 75-80fps in most places with drops no lower than 60fps and raises up over 120fps. BUTTER. SMOOTH!
How do you display your fps in this game?

/fps if I am not mistaken. I use MSI Afterburner to track all that though.

    HI,

My rig has 2x AMD Radeon R9 270x cards on a MSI Z87-G45-Gaming with an Intel i5-4670k (@4.00 GHz) and 16GB Corsair Vengence (1600Mhz (LP)) memory. Yeah! It's not the best.

Any way, TESO played in besel adjusted eyefinity (6144x1080) with Crossfire (and latest drivers) has gone from around about 25-30 fps to 60-70fps. I have game on highest settings except water reflection (Medium) with 70 as my view distance.

For me, this update has meant a large fps gain and that makes me quite happy. :)

For fps, I sometimes use chat: /fps or sometimes use FRAPS.

I was already PLAYING with all setting s on ultra using my 2 ati's in xfire on 1920x1080 resolution with no issues whatsoever. Since the patch, my graphics are uglier, after a few mins of play, everything starts turning pink(haven't seen that since my last peyote button) and I'm constantly crashing when playing, not to desktop even, my entire HD is crashing wtf?

Sounds like a driver problem if anything. I'd try doing a full wipe and install of the latest catalyst drivers. I usually download the most recent modded drivers as I have the best luck with those.

How can it be a driver problem? It was running fine, patch, runs like crap. If the tweaks were major tweaks, then it's up to zeni to inform the card manufacturers of any major changes, so they can, in turn tweak their drivers to match. No such process has occurred as there is no new driver and when a game runs great on max settings like I said and a tweak actually makes things worse, that isn't a driver problem.

Cannot say why you are having problems @gilgalahad. But, before patch, the game was playing in windowed fullscreen but is now in 'true' fullscreen with some optimization.

In windowed fullscreen Crossfire is not used by the game in 'true' fullscreen Crossfire is fully used. On the dektop toolbar you should be able to pick (right click' the AMD / CCC icon from 'show hidden icons' then choose a card from the list that has crossfire on a 'sub' list. Choosing the AMD crossfire item should allow you to show 'AMD status icon'. With this option turned on, any game using Crossfire should have the status icon shown (top right). This confirms when Crossfire is in use. No icon means no crossfire.

I hope you can resolve the issue on your side or get help through customer services to fix this as the game looks wonderful when in Crossfire and even better in eyefinity (as I use).

    EDIT: Tidy up.

I wish I had the same gains... I'm running two 7870 Ghz editions and I was waiting for this patch, and even though I wasn't expecting too much until there's a driver update or ESO profile I saw all these posts like OP... my performance stayed the exact same. In fact, changing any settings in CCC and even disabling CF seems to make 0 difference in game, which I don't understand.

I made sure CF is indeed working and I have my CCC profile tagged to the right Exe, and spent a number of hours over the past few days trying to figure my problem out, but I still sit anywhere from mid 20's fps in town and cap out at 70 in the LEAST demanding areas I can find. Roughly 35-50 out fighting in the world. The only difference is when I drastically reduce in game video settings, but I'm still not seeing the performance I'm positive I should have...

    FX-8350 oc'd to 4.4 on stock voltage
    16gigs mem
    twin 7870 ghz editions

One card runs at 99% other card barely ever hits around 30% no matter what I change, using barely any memory and even with a number of things running in the background my cpu hits maybe 60-70% max, if that, ever. So I guess I'm just waiting for a new driver or something.

PS: Also did a clean reinstall of the latest ATI drivers\CCC

Does anyone know of any articles on tweaking this game for ATI and\or Xfire?

Try this for those with persisting SLI issues. Worked for me!

    SLI Fix.

    1. Go to C:\Users\Name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live
    2. Select "User Settings"
    3. SET VSYNC "0"
    4. SET GPUSmoothingFrames "0"
    5. Save Document

Be sure SLI is set through Nvidia Control Panel as well.
