WHERE TO FARM MOTIFS?? [ANSWER INSIDE]

Instanced areas are the best place to farm motifs, oppose to public areas (i.e. banks public houses etc)

These include,

1) the first area when completing the save Lyris quest
2) the manor on the Island of Silatar, for AD
3) Figure out yourself.

So just farm your usual trunks, cupboards, drawers etc, then relog, simples.

P.S. This is a secret i've known for quiet sometime, but since prices of motifs are going too high, its time to balance things out.

I found 3 motifs in the area leading up to where you freed the guy in main quest who switched side.
This was before the nerf.

It looks like urns are less affected than the nerf than cupboards, trunks and cabinets.

I wish I had the same luck as the ones getting 3 motifs in like one day. I've seen motifs (the regular ones) go for 400g.

But the 4 epic ones are going for an 'They got to be smoking crack' prices of 60k, 90k, 100k+.

That's way way too much to try to sale for. I mean come on.

if something is rare, and someone wants it, people WILL pay 150k+ (I've seen daedrics go for that much). I wouldn't pay it, and I don't think I'm going to try to sell one if I get it, but it's not something to get upset about.

Fortunately it seems (not tested, as I haven't found one yet) that these motifs have had their drop rate re-upped, or some sort of variable increased, because I'm seeing them in /z every hour, instead of once a day or two. I think ZOS might use the drop rate tuning to 'correct' for economy flunks by cheaters/dupers from before. If you control the supply, you fix the price and outplay the bots. The lesson is: don't buy the motif, just wait for it to drop (in most cases), or buy for what you would consider 'cheap'.

I successfully sell motifs for 800g-1k. Seeing the rare ones go that high is unsetteling but realistic.

Should they have left drops as they were at launch, everyone would be happy. Instead, they chose to support farmers in their quest to get impossibly rich, and gradually decreased drop rates in most (if not all) patches since early access, which only means that those farmers who got to VR via exploiting and farmed dozens of them, are now happily selling them for 10x more than they were asking a month ago..

You might try Wayrest Bank and Inn. I know it is good for the rares, Daedric and Ancient Elves in VRzone, but not sure about the 1-50 zone though. I would think it would be just as good.

I look everywhere for motifs--out-of-way locales and crowded bank lobbies, alike.

And from my experience, there's no difference in how frequently they turn up. (I even found a motif in a backpack, the other day--still haven't figured that one out.)

Despite having found some 50, or so, overall, though, I've yet to stumble across one of the four rare motifs, and I'm wondering if location and/or player level plays a role, here. I'm running 8 alts, ranging from Level 3 to Level 28. The top dog (cat, in this case) has extensively explored the Rift, Eastmarch, and all the lesser Ebonheart areas, but he has yet to find one. Would he have better luck in Cyrodil or Coldharbor, or is it hopeless until he's a vet?

City of Mournhold as my first VR faction has dumped 2 Barbaric and an Imperial on me. A desk, a trunk and a wardrobe.

As far as the original 9 books, just loot as has been said in your first faction… trunks, cabinets, nightstands, dressers, wardrobes, urns and desks… oh and backpacks, they do drop from packs.

I found three motifs in Cyrodiil this weekend. One at each of my faction's two gates and another in one of the towns. Motifs can be found almost anywhere it seems.

Relogging to farm motif's should be removed from the game. It's not playing the game logging in and out, it's called being so bored you don't know what else to do.

I don't do it out of boredom but of desire. I want the Motifs but am not willing to farm gold for the purposes of inflating the economy to get a crafting skill.

ZOS could solve this easily if they wanted to.
