What was the goal with this implementation?

In effect all it has done is promote zerg mentality was this the intended effect? Is this the vision the game developers have for pvp in ESO? Small group engagements are basically completely eliminated from cyrodil, those small groups cannot compete against these zerg balls who roam around like a swarm of angry locust. Prior to its implementation my group could easily engage significantly higher numbers and cleave a path through the swarm.

    That's why.

AOE caps don't even make sense. Oh ok..so i see a group of ppl and my first inclination is to run amongst them to cause damage...oh but this spell..this spell right here?.... this shoots fire from my fingertips..only hits six ppl..so..bring a friend..join the aoe lottery...oh and this spell...this "ultimate" where I burn the ground and bring hell upon earth?...only hits six ppl..better hope you're number 7!

It's just one of those things that don't make much sense, but have to be implemented for balance and game mechanics purposes. Like being able to carry a hundred steel battleaxes in your pocket.

what makes sense is..if you're dumb enough to stand in a small close knit group..you deserve to die..not the other way around. o.O

People ball up because they "win" that way. It's also safer since you won't make as many individual misstakes that gets you killed. It can't be very fun though and it looks silly as hell.

There are a couple of ironies here

    1) Uncapping AoE would force people to spread out, making AoE LESS useful.
    2) Spreading out is easier than having to have your thumb up the leaders butt while doing your other stuff.

Honestly, whenever I see one of these zerg balls, I just laugh and walk away.

My guild on Waba (Einherjar - DC) routinely takes whole sides of the map from the enemy factions with usually as little as 8 people; all the while defeating the biggest groups that the other factions have roaming at the time. After you cut off a factions ability to transitus anywhere they ALL come for you. So - I dont understand how small group play has been eliminated. Don't run from the zerg, outsmart it!

What kind of balance? Numbers win?
