Quick Slot Items Help

Maybe my quick slot items are bugged, not sure. I have just one item in there right now trying to figure out why it doesn't work. I have health potions in my quick slot. I should be able to just hit Q, make sure I am on the health potion and that should cause the item to be used correct? I hit Q, verify health potion is active then release Q. Am I missing a step? I have even tried clicking while it is active and my character won't use it and I am at the proper level for what I have in the quick slot.

You use the word "hit" a couple of times, but it sounds like when you say that, you're referring to holding down the button. When you actually want to use whatever is in your quick bar slot, you just tap the button once. If you hold it too long, the game will assume you're trying to access the quickslot wheel in order to select what goes in that slot.

As to why it may not work when you click it for testing: I believe (it's been a while since I did this) that resource potions don't work if you're at cap already. So if you're already at full health, I think the game won't let you waste a potion. But like I said, I may be misremembering.

I did exactly the same thing in beta till I realised what I was doing.

Just tap the key (Q) don't hold it.

Tap Key = use selected Quickslot
Hold Key = bring up the Quick Slot wheel to change the selected item. This part can be done by Addons.

Note that some Trophy items are buggy and cannot be used.

Thanks getting ready to play so I will try it. I think I may have hit the Q key to bring up the wheel, highlight what potion I want then I hit Q again so that may be the issue.

The quick slot system is really badly designed. It is made that way because of the consoles.

We should have 3 buttons all on the same timer instead of that stupid circle.

Agreed, they have clearly designed the interface with a port to console in mind.
Bad decision, hopefully they will give use more slots and allow us to assign potions properly.

esoui.com/downloads/info258-GreymindQuickSlotBar.html is a VAST improvement over the clunky Q wheel.

An eight-slot hotbar which is visible on the screen, where you set a hotkey for each slot. You tap the hotkey for the item you want to use, tap Q to use it. Job done.
