In a Closed Market system, you have a wall that prevents direct buyer to seller commerce. Buyers and Sellers alike have to Join Clubs (trade guilds) and go through barriers to finally buy or sell items. This creates a System where the prices are always high when buying and low when selling. Most of the offers are Garbage Offers that can become your only option.

Your only option is jumping in and out of Trade Guilds, wasting time spamming Zone. But there is a price: every trade guild joined prevents you from instead joining an endgame, fun, roleplaying, hunting, pvp, -focused guild.

Person One has a large abundance of Materials but no customers and 8/10 of the offers received are garbage offers. Person 2 has total scarcity and 8/10 of the offers received are garbage offers.

These 2 people cannot come together: Either they are in different zones, are online at different times, in different guilds, et al. The ideal solution is these 2 will find one another and strike a deal. But, we have a Closed Market!

Open Markets supported with Public Auction Houses would solve this problem by allowing any person to attempt to sell an item to every potential buyer instead of fighting through barriers and garbage offers.

    +1 to all the above.

Also think that the guild are simply access to smaller auction houses where the only choice is buyout.

Guilds should be much more than a guild bank.
There is a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat. And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures.

And the guild auction houses usually get flooded driving the same "race to the bottom" that Open Market causes. This is its own problem, and Open Market allows a fluctuation of continuity of prices as well as access.

How many ways can we make a metaphor for "we need an auction house?" Instead of posting in one of the many other threads?

How many of those threads are either too toxic to post in, or have too many pages of crap to sort through?

There reaches a point where instead of just making a comment in a thread that has no further importance, that you want to make a new thread.

The people who are spamming the chat channels are, often, the very bot-farmers that we hate with a passion....

"Selling Kuta, Drugh wax, Resin, Tempering alloy 1000 G each bulk order discount for orders of 100 or more"
"Selling Barbaric, daedric, ancient-elven motifs -15 K each 40 K for all 3. Lots of stock"

Now where do you think these items came from? I've taken to contacting some of these sellers in chat and asking them to sent me some obscene amount of these items COD -- when I see the items I send them back and quietly report that account to customer support advising them of how many of the items this person had and that they may want to look at the account as a aggregate for a botter.

Closed market -- makes it even more difficult for the botters to sell their wares.
Round peg? Square hole? Not a problem with a big enough hammer.

Lol, you're a briefer, someone has more than you so they need a csr investigation??? Pathetic.

As far as the thread, repost x a million. Closed vs a wide open global ah is pathetic, the closed is far superior. Closed vs a campaign per faction ah with therefore reasonably different scope is different but not one better than the other, for example though. A fully global one with only one server is a cluster of garbage and may as well be a vendor then since there is no arbitrage or rarity.

This issue needs serious attention, and remains one of the strongest arguments to have an auction house.
