Skill Morphs

I'm surprised there isn't more talk about how lackluster the morph system is. Considering we only have 5 skills I feel like those 5 skills should be a bit more customizable. I have not read any plans on increasing the amount of morphs a skill could have. Personally I would really to be able to drop more points into the few skills I actually care about and morph them 3 or so times so I have a skill tailored to do the job I want it to do.

    Well, that would be dragon-age.

Seriously, there are so many skills, its confusing, unless they allow cheaper respect and no-skill-points-cost morph, I would not want the system to be even more complex and costly.

The Morph system is probably the only "Hard" choice you have to make in this game. And while respeccing is an option, doing so because you want to change the other morph instead, kinda sucks. But i guess this means you have to do your research, but even so, you can still be hit by the "flavor of the week" many of the skills face.

A Roman walks into a bar and hold up two fingers and says, "I'll have five beers please."

much of the choice would be easier if they actually provide informative tooltips. e.g., tell people how increased rank will affect the morph, tell people what does "larger cone" means, tell people what does "increase damage" means.

The tooltips are atrocious to the point that only good way to morph is internet research it. It shouldn't be that way.

Agree with @crislevin I just morphed a nice Templar skill that was like a 512 hit grenade to a 5m aoe.... Bleh.... My goal is as a light armor wearer is to not let the mobs get close. I would love to revert back. the description was not as descriptive as my little mind would have liked.

I'm fine with researching it, if the answers are here on this site. Relying on the opinion of other players rather than facts stated by the devs is one part of the issue.

I have a general feeling that devs are not being transparent.

    skill tooltips are vague,
    patch notes are vague
    patch notes are incomplete

Are they trying on purpose to create a "mysterious" feeling or something?

Many skills? You mean in ESO?

No it's not. It only feels like that because your restricted to console setup.
If you had free amount of bars you'd know versitility is very limited.
    Death Recap for Templars
Have you tried rerolling to a Sorcerer or Dragonknight?
Templars do more dps than DK's.

well, I already have to choose up to 12 skills out of 30+, we don't need to turn the game into a research project, especially when a single wrong morph cost my entire bank account to respec.

Oh I do not disagree with things like, tooltips are freaking horrible, the cost of respeccing ( it's RESPEC NOT RESPECT that bothers me) for a simple morph change is way to severe but it should be severe enough so that you don't just change it on an hourly basis but the more complex the system the more fun it is. I enjoy making my character the way I want to play him. Considering I'm in medium armor and I try to use melee skills as a NB shows I'm not the same freaking flavor the of the month mage build.

There will always be "the best build for this" you can't get around that no matter what you do. I mean look at a game like Path of Exile (i know ones an ARPG vs a MMO) the amount of builds you can make per character is huge. Is it horribly overwhelming for a new player? Hell yeah it is. Are their FOTM builds? Ofcourse there are but at the same time you can create your own too which is what I feel like more morphs would allow.

I could see them giving us a pool of morphs to choose from 1 by 1 or hell do it mass effect 3 style where you choose between 2 at each level. You should also show us the morphs when we click on a skill to see what are options are. I hated leveling up and not knowing what a skill was going to turn into and I still don't have them all memorized. Like I have no clue what the morphs of Entropy or Inner Fire do.

One does not simply morph a skill.
    Savvy?
