Why i actually kind of like Veteran Content.

I like the stability.

The mobs of a entire zone is the same across it, no worrys about running into a mob that is vastly above your level if you take a wrong turn. No worrys that a quest might be too high or too low generally.

the levels are slow enough to make it meaningful enough to upgrade gear each level. you can make 1 type of crafting material work for alot more content and the people in it.

yes there is basically no "leveling" at that point, but i like having lots of content without having to worry at all about the constant upgrading.

several Levels per day in normal content means lots of new gear, to the point it wasnt worth it each craftable level.. and often meant i was too high for XP and item rewards due to how much i pick through every quest i can find before going to the next zone.

i do think that veteran ranks should have some progression in them tho beyond gear. a few attrib and skill points would be nice. Some more of those core stats..

but i like their length a lot more than i expected too. maybe its because i enjoy games beyond RPGs... Even if every now and then you find a mob that hits you for 2.5k damage in one hit =P (trampled by a Anchor Ogrim lol)
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

I like the veteran content because it feels far more like Elder Scrolls then 1-50 did. Sure it is more of a challenge, but I can go anywhere and have the mobs feel more consistent. I can run across the map to pick up a quest there, and not have to worry if it is close to my level. Much more Elder Scrollsy.

I really think most of the objections are coming from people who want to see a constant numerical representation of their progression in the game. It's not like you gain skills more slowly at VR or that you don't get access to fun content. You just don't get a swirly, shiny special effect every few hours to remind you how awesome you are.

I think I would have LOVED veteran ranks, except for the one fact that you aren't doing any new content.

I figure I will just keep rotating my characters for now. Maybe by the time I get my other character to rank VR1, I am hoping I feel like starting the content ALL over again to get the first one to VR5.

YAY I GOT BETTER NUMBERS! MY NUMBERS CAN BEAT YOUR NUMBERS!!! SCREW STORY AND ADVENTURE!

While I really enjoy leveling (I'm a 2h/bw v12 Nightblade. I PvP and PvE) I really like how the vet zones felt more (to me at least) like a test of skill, and a challenge to my playstyle. Sure it's a bit long to be a pure test of skill, but it's not entirely stagnant. There are skyshards to fill my need to advance skills, and achievements to fill part of my sense of accomplishment. The rest is filled by quests and finally reaching that next V rank.

I know it's not for everyone, my friend went out of his way to avoid any quests he could because he found them boring. To each his own.

That's certainly not everyone. If I was to describe it as a grind, I wouldn't be referring to the number of quests, but just how tedious fighting through OP trash mobs is and the fact that reaching this level doesn't feel like it has opened up more possibilities for how you build your character but actually feels like it has reduced it.

Or maybe it's because we don't like fighting bandit no-lives that show more combat experience then elite Dremora units straight from coldharbour... Or the bears that hit harder than Daedric Titans. Or pretty much everything else that is completely unimmersive about VR statistics and pacing.

We can also throw fake difficulty in there too, with mobs using identical PC-applicable powers that hit for 6x the amount we can dish out.

never ran into this going from 1-50 either, where heck are people running off too that they met such higher level mobs they couldn't kill them?

ha, I never got that too, i always had the oppsite problem where most mobs were so much lower they didnt even give XP most of the time... the quests i was doing usually gray or green when i got them.

Never grinded levels... but i pick a zone clean before moving to the next.

Veteran content itself isnt the problem.

Its the brick wall that 80% of builds in the game run into while attempting to do run vet content.

It makes for a very frustrated player when the build and abilities armor type and weapons you used most of the game become wholly ineffective.

If you were lucky enough to pick the right build through most of the game and continue on to VR content its not as bad, but I would wager most of the players who enjoyed swinging around their two-handed swords or using sub-par abilities like say Entropy get extremely irritated and simply give up claiming the content is unplayable.

I never found it either, but I didn't want to over-level and have quests going grey

I totally agree with OP. And while I never had a problem in the 1-50 of running into more powerful mobs, I was usually overpowered compared to them as spending some time looting chests at low levels ends up spiking you a few levels ahead later on.

All the reasons OP stated though have made me love vet content so far. If I was playing one of the older mmo's where I ddin't really care about the story really, you just next next next'd to get the quest, then it would feel very grindy with minimal reward to me, but in TESO the voice acting and the quality they did the questing really strikes home a proper RPG and thats the enjoyment I get. Now with the way vet levels are currently staged the rewards are def not at the same level they were early on, but this is how I remember MMO's being years ago anyway, where it took a long long time to get to max level and you spent many many months just to finish most of the normal game fair with some end game stuff.

So I personally love it. Yes it does need some work and yes it does need some changes but not a lot. The 1-50 game was sooooo easy I could have been asleep and beat it. I think I died about 15 times total in the entire 1-50, 10 of which was at molag bal in the last week dealing with that stupid bug they just fixed, so those dont really count as challenge deaths. I'm looking forward to actually getting a little frustrated with some fights and dying to some trash mobs so I have to think and try harder, as the reward is greater to me.

Strong, the sarcasm is with this one.
    Or,

    Troll, this one is,

    Or,

    A masochist.

Seriously, not everyone is wire for intrinsic rewards satisfaction.

EDIT: I was trying to use dry wit, and may been a little over the line. I am happy that you have found enjoyment in this, just a lot of us haven't.

I apologize again, don't mean to pee on your parade.

The veteran content would have been a GOOD idea, IF and only IF; it was just an OPTION. Yes you can say it is that now already, but the problem is Zenimax nerf any good options the players find (Craglorn farm is getting nerfed next week).

The veteran content is super for hardcore PvEers, but it is a long hard grind for PvPers. A grind that kills the fun of the game.

I have a real life friend I play with in TS, and I am seriously concerned about his health, due to how much he rages from playing the the veteran content. The difficulty scales up way too quit, and almost only the light armor+staff boring cookie cutter builds work. For the rest that wants to play how the class should have been played, is hitting a brick wall and get angry (and some /cancel and moves on to the next game).
