The Road Ahead - Vet Itemization

"Itemization – we’ll add gear that’s harder to acquire but more worthwhile. We're looking at gear that will make others envious when you’re wearing or wielding it—both in appearance and in stat boosts. To do this, we’ll adjust soft caps so that they don't kick in quite as quickly. We have to be very careful about how much we adjust numbers, because the greater the variance, the more people can hurt their intended builds." The Road Ahead

I realize some folks will rejoice that you now have a gear grind to get after. Two groups that I can see having an issue with this are 1) crafters, who were told from the beginning that the best gear would be craftable, and 2) dedicated PvP players that will now have to go back to PvE, yet again, to enter a gear grind-fest. I, unfortunately, fall into both categories.

Crafters shouldn't be able to craft items better then deities and etc.

    Forgive me...what is a deity?

    Like the Aeedra/Daedra/Sithis/Void.

But no I think what they meant by this, rare items with unique models and uncraftable sets will drop.

It appears crafting is for the leveling grind now, and we may as well respec out of crafting once we get our trial sets.

You may be right, but they may also find some way to integrate crafting into the mix. It seems, given your points, what might be perfect would be item drops that are needed in crafting. For an example using Enchanting, imagine a really rare Aspect rune that's a reward. This would actually solve both problems. It would make crafters more valuable, while still rewarding the folks who put the time in to find these great items.

Another desperate attempt to keep the game going. But yet again 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

I guess I'm trying to understand the relationship between this yet-to-be-seen gear & deities. That's what threw me off.

Crafting Item Drops, New Item traits, new special crafting locations might all be good.

I think power creep and gear grinds are off putting, always having to worry about the next new set of top tier gear. I really hope this doesn't go that way.
  • cortechsnub18_ESO
Yes, I wasn't happy to see this. More power gap in PvP, and more PvE grinding. This really has me debating if it is worth sticking with this game. I hate raiding.

As a raider in other games, no.

Adding things crafters need but raiders acquire is one of the things other games do that pisses me off.

If I put the time into crafting I shouldnt have to buy an overpriced raid drop to make gear.

Raiders dont like having to find crafters either.

More likely, they'll make all of these 'uber' drops of purple quality, so that crafters can still feel useful when they dump tempers into upgrading them to legendary.

Easy fix. instead of new rare sets, make, new rare set item, which u when in a crafters hands can be made into the next coolest thing/set/armor by a CRAFTER

Crafting should be equal to the best, otherwise what is the point of crafting?

Have your gear grinds for the best gear, but don't take away from the crafters either.

Players can have the choice to grind crafting for best gear, or grind content for best gear.
Who has time? But if we never take time how can we ever have time?

I'm all for crafting guys, and I have BS, clothing, Ench all maxed.

But right now, I can literally log in once per day for about 2 minutes, and in a month I'll be able to craft the best gear in the game. Someone could run AA Trials for 5 hours a day, clear the bosess every week, and would have worse gear.

8 Trait sets are the only things that should be better then PvE dropped stuff. The point of PvE progression is to slowly get better gear and learn fights to progress.

If you could have all the best gear before even entering a Trial...how will PvE gear progression work?

All that being said, I am more of a PvPer and they NEED to buff the PvP sets. 625K takes alot longer to achieve than any PvE piece or crafted piece.

I really hope they make the new items actually interesting. So far the best staff I have found was simple higher DMG/magicka. No cool specs, no cool unique attributes. Gimme something that increases all fire DMG 20%, or something that increases specific skills usability. Dagger with %20 DMG returned as health? Eff yeah.

Also I dont think this should be an issue for crafter's, as long as crafter's can create items of EQUAL usefulness. Have specific items that can be crafted, and specific items that can only be found. Then you can mix and match to your own preferences.

I personally don't want to be stuck doing one or the other, leave that up to the player.
