PTS Feedback: What type of feedback are you looking for?

It would be nice to have some guidelines on what feedback you would like to obtain. As you can clearly see on the PTS forums a wide variety of subjects are already being thrown around even though everyone is still downloading the PTS server patch.

Like the others we have read the starter PTS release notes however it is unclear what role you would like the players to fill in these tests.

Example are we limited to providing feedback to the release note changes. Or are we allowed to provide suggestions to existing problems within the game outside the patch notes. Would these suggestions be useful and/or warranted?

Try different builds. See if there's any crazy behavior. Do the changes work as advertised? Skills / passives that would boost the changed abilities - do they work properly, or are things out of the world?

As long as you treat it as a suggestion, or make a constructive case for why something should/should not be, rather than just a wish list of demands, you can generally feedback almost anything. Yes, even stuff not related to the patch notes.

If this is all confirmed by Admin,

Then this would initiate the next question are to where do they want us to submit this feedback? Should we place it all within the PTS forums or submit them in game or divide the information based upon content?

I would hope they would like to streamline the information in some aspect.

At the top of this forum page you should have a tab for sending the feedback and bug reports.

My answer comes from almost a year of being a Beta tester including being a PTS tester. They will let you know if there's an area that doesn't need feedback. On that rare occasion it will be something like the robotic placeholder voices some NPCs had while they were in the process of replacing them with voice actors.

They generally prefer you use the /feedback and /bug in the game. However, PTS does have a Feedback subforum. If you have something that might benefit from the discussion and attention of more testers, go ahead and post it there.

Do they want us to test with popular addons (thinking of wikeds frames here but all the most popular ones listed in the most used section of the ESO head site and its zam addon loader

They want you to test as if you were playing the game. If you plan on using addons in live, than test those in PTS. It is also beneficial to the addon developers as they can see if a new ESO build might require changes to the addon.

You can use AddOns but they're not interested in feedback about AddOns. ZOS doesn't really care what AddOns you use.

Use the in-game /feedback and /bug chat commands to submit reports.
Also noteworthy, the "Attach Screenshot" option in the reports will send a screenshot of what you saw on screen the moment you hit ENTER after typing /bug or /feedback.

So don't worry about missing something you want to show while typing a longer report. As long as you were looking at it when you typed the chat command, you're good.

I usually /bug *ANYTHING* that i find, including low res or misaligned textures, floating rocks and objects and any other anomalies in the world. It's not just about game mechanics.

    Welcome to the PTS!

K thanks I will do so I was once in QA for software and hardware so I make a pretty good and through tester. And I enjoy the detective work nature of it.

But I am still waiting for my "changed IP address " code now for almost an hour... This never takes this long on the NA server... Though it does pop up from time to time when I have not in fact had a new IP address assigned by my ISP just an new internal network IP address from my router)

Also someone once told me that screenshots send location data to the devs with the bug report. I hope that is true, else I've been sending lots of mundane looking screenshots in the effort to report bot locations :/

Yes, any report automatically sends a bunch of info with it, like your stats and position etc.

No need to try to explain exactly where you are ...

Is that a list somewhere that tells all the data that ZOS gets from a /bug report? I been wondering that for a year now. I know that they get location form it, but I am hoping for a detail list somewhere. That will help to nail down what type of data I should included in a better report.

@k9mouse - I asked the same question back in closed PTS days and @SirAndy summarized the response from ZOS that I got. Since then I've reported bugs with only some basic info.

    Floating Rock <screenshot>
Text does not match voice, NPC name <screenshot>
Voice over in wrong language, NPC name <screenshot>
Bard hand projects through instrument, NPC name <screenshot>
Bad <matt type> node, no response to action key <screenshot>

    And so on...

The hardest to report are bugged quests. Those you should give as much detail on as possible. Stage of Quest, NPC, what happened etc. Often you have to abandon and restart just to get that info correct.

Trust that you alone are not the only one reporting an issue, there will be thousands(?) of others doing so also. ZOS should be able to figure things out from all of the reports. What you miss adding, someone else will.
