How is your Nightblade healing coming?

So, I'm always the healer... always. And I love the Nightblade. So, I'm a Nightblade healer. A=B, and B=C, so B=C...

Solo healing? Yawn... let's not even talk about how ridiculously easy that is...

However, I'm finding group healing... very interesting. When things are going well, they are going really well. Everyone is at or very near to 100% and the mobs are dropping quite nicely. Yet, on the few occasions where things go downhill, they get really bad, really quickly. I don't really have much of an "Oh s**t" button, so large spikes can turn things ugly. As somewhat of an answer to this, I generally leave it up to my group members to click my Blood Altar. This does the job most of the time, but I have had a tank or dps die on me, so I'm forced to question my healing capabilities as any good healer would...

How about you other NB healers? Same issue? Maybe you've found an interesting way around that? Or maybe you just want to talk NB healing for awhile... I'm all ears.

Not sure I get what you mean by that.

I agree that healing in general isn't at all an issue for a NB, but my issue was with damage spikes. Or were you just commenting on your experience?

i dont have problem with damage spiking unless the whole team gets downed to 10% hp wich is unlikely if the team didnt actualy all jump into a 1 shot aoe (even then ill use Healing springs if that happens). When someone get spiked i activate Healing ward and start to regen it up

I feel like we do have a decent "oh ***" button with Soul Siphon(siphoning ultimate morph) and also Bolstering Darkness (the shadow ultimate morph). Although Shadow requires the synergy activation I believe. At level 43, my tool tip for Soul Siphon is healing 3 nearby allies for 162 every .5 seconds for 3 seconds. That's 972 health for the whole party in 3 seconds.....combined with funnel health at 35 a second....plus any resto staff heals you have up. Bolstering Darkness heals for 1071 currently with a 30% damage reduction and 70% AoE enemy snare. Keep funnel health up as much as possible to build the ultimate points. Healing Ward is very nice as well for those moments where the tank takes some spike damage. The only time I've noticed any issues were when the pulls are just too big and unnecessary or people stand in things they shouldn't. Ya know, like those big red circles on the ground. I'm very much enjoying my choice of NB healer so far.

Yeah, I tried really hard to roll Templar for my healer, but just couldn't make it past level 6. Nightblade on the other hand is much more my style. The only problem is, Nightblade is also my style for my tank and my damager. I feel awful about it, but I just can't roll a Templar or Dragonknight to save my life.

Oh man, I'm so embarrassed... I forgot to mention the Siphoning ultimate. I do have that one slotted, but me forgetting to mention it above should show how often I'm used to hitting it. I'm such an "ultimate" hoarder... I'll have to work it in more often when my group time goes up.

So wait, do you have two different ultimates slotted right now? I'm seeing that Soul Siphon is 150 ultimate, and Consuming Darkness (I think that's what you meant, or my link has the wrong name of the power...) is 200 ultimate. Why even bother with the first when the latter grants the resistance and invisibility as well? Just curious. Maybe you don't use both and were just mentioning them?

Yea, I have one on each bar. It's kind of situational on which I would use. I do find myself using Soul Siphon more often.....because with with Bolstering Darkness, everyone has to activate the Synergy to get the heal.....which leaves your healing in someone else's hands....and we all know how that can go >.> Plus, you kind of have to run up into the fray to use Bolstering Darkness with it's 10 meter AoE. That one seems best when the whole group is taking a beating in a tight area, and when everyone knows to use the synergy.

I'm trying to level up my Alliance war skills as well to get access to the Shield ultimate in the support line. That one has a nice morph that restores Magika every time an ally's shield is destroyed or expires, or it can be morphed to heal while the shield is up.

The morph for drain power(sap essence) is really nice for trash mobs in groups also. I'm getting heals for about 170 on the group with that when hitting the full 6 mobs with it. I haven't been able to test if this one increases your healing power or not, but since it increases weapon damage by 6% per enemy hit, and resto healing goes up with staff damage......it should increase healing output during the 20 second buff.

I'm liking Siphon Spirit for long boss fights also......Morph for Force Siphon in resto staff.

I'm like Anzer with the Templar thing.....I tried really hard to like it and rolled one in beta, but I just kept coming back to the NB and I'm not regretting it at all.

Here's what I'm going for as an end game build.....of course it'll be tweaked and tuned until it's perfected.....but this is my base idea for full build. The second bar would be mostly situational. Could swap out CC, damage reductions, shields, damage, etc. So many options!

I just picked up a restore staff on my NB at lvl 24, I am 28 now. I have healed every dungeon for my level. We ultimately have to keep in mind that as healers our job is not health bar baby sitting like most other games, this is active combat so the rest of the group needs to pay attention and not think oh I have a healer I can stand in red aoe all day. When I first started healing I noticed tanks not using block are the defensive buffs and just face tanking everything expecting me to keep them alive. That's not how this game was designed. Lately though I find healing very enjoyable and besides the occasional missed dodge by the tank or dps its fairly fun and simple.

Dont remember the name of the Ultimate but its under the Syphon skill line, if you morph that you can heal up to 3 allies 150 or so health every 0.5 seconds. This can be used as your oh **** heal. Works for me ;D

The Ult from the shadow tree is pretty nice too, its an 30% aoe dmg reduction/ slow, plus they can use slip away to drop aggro for a moment and let your heals do their thing. I personally have the morph that makes it do damage, simply because it can shred a boss by a significant amount on its own over its duration, or put down a spawn of mobs. Its a decent oh *** button, and has been serving me pretty well so far.

But i'm still only mid 20's, but I like it so far better then I did the siphoning ult from beta, plus its useful on its own even with out anyone being required to use the synergy.
    =================================
But like i said above i'm still mid 20's, but I like my NB healer, figured i'd be a bit more rare then I am though. She's tankier then the tank some times lol, maybe it has to do with my moronic choice of heavy armor.

Healing Springs is a very good choice of the morph on grand healing, the mana refund makes a big difference.

As for if you can heal good enough, I found that question on my mind for the first dungeon BC, but after doing the dungeon in graht wood I began to ask, was it my fault or the tanks? At bc level it was defiantly not enough to keep them alive, but then again when they stand in fire, don't block, or dodge anything, they are assuming too much about their ability to tank and your ability to heal. But the run of EH, as well as a few pick groups at world bosses, I was starting to feel a lot more confident of my healing, either because I had more mana to back them up, or other players starting to realize the game mechanics on their end.

Hell i could be completely wrong and I'm woefully un ready for higher lvl healing when i get there, but we'll see when i get there, hearing good things and a certain level of popularity with NB healers so i'm not too worried about it becoming unviable.

Yeah my "Oh sh**" button is also Ward Ally. I took the morph that also shields myself for in PVP and also because I've often found that in high damage fights, the shield is quickly eaten through, so I personally don't know how much use you'd get out of the heal morph. Plus with a shield on myself I can worry about other people more - not to mention that I am a magnet for aggro.
For heavy group damage I use Mutagen, stack a few Healing Springs, Soul Siphon ulti if it's up (which it often is due to the Transfer passive coupled with use of Funnel Health). I also have Ring of Preservation and Blood Alter for high damage, stacked phases. I am, however, having trouble with high damage while the party is unstacked. Though, so far, the situation hasn't been that the party CAN'T stack so much as they don't think to stack. I don't yet have Sap Essence though, so that could make the difference.

One burning question I have - does anyone know if the heal effect of Funnel Health stacks? Currently I try to throw a Funnel Health on every target in the hopes that the HoT effect is stacking but I am unsure. Or does it even stack if spammed on the one target? That effect stacking + Mutagen HoTs would make for some powerful regen.

Unfortunately the HoT from Funnel Health does not stack. If you cast it multiple times before the initial duration wears off, it will only refresh the duration of the HoT back up to 10 seconds. I can't confirm if a Funnel Health from multiple different casters stack, however.

I am seeing that my frame add-on is saying things like Funnel Health X2 or X3 when cast by me multiple times and when another caster does it as well. The numbers don't seem to increase though, so I'm thinking that it's just the refreshed time like Anzer said.

I think (but I'm not certain) the health funnel x2 or x3 numbers are if it triggers on other players as healing done is attributed to you for the combat text even if it isnt affecting you. Not certain though

That is correct. It is showing all of the ticks for the number of people it is currently healing. If you have Mutagen or Rapid Regen from the healing staff line, try casting that multiple times, you should see the heals (x2, x4, x6) on each person the HoT is rolling on.
Because Zenimax limits what addons can do, TFC and the like can only read numbers that either affect you or you put out. Hence you'll see a multi-target HoT with the (x#) to signify how many people it's affecting. Maybe someday in the future they'll open up the availability a bit more, but hopefully only after they resolve the issues with botting, etc...

No class besides Templar has burst healing for allies. Nightblades only have a few class abilities and their staffs to heal with. Funnel Health, Soul Siphon, and Bolstering Darkness, and Siphon Essence are their only healing class abilities.

Templars are better at the veteran ranks due to their skill line dedicated to healing for dungeons. However, for trials and 12 player dungeons you will need diversity and that is precisely what Nightblade healers offer. Running with 3 Templar healers wouldn't be very wise imo. NB healers will most likely be stuck in with your melee groups to get the most out of their AoE healing abilities like Siphon Essence and Funnel Health.

They also have the added bonus of having infinite mana with Siphoning Strikes, and not to be underestimated in raid type content.

Some things to overcome burst damage are precasting healing rings and stacking them. Take Mutagen, as a Nightblade you really have to as it is your only burst heal and is passively activated or you can spam >20% for the instant heal. Save your UItimates for large incoming damage phases e.g Bolstering Darkness for the dmg reduction, Slip Away, and heal.

In the end anyone can heal in this game, but I feel other than Templars Nightblades are a better choice than Sorcerers because of their synergy with the healing style through Siphoning and their Ultimates. As a Nightblade healer I would expect to be the one doing more damage and focusing on keeping HoTs rolling across the raid.

I'm only lvl 27, but I found healing to be a blast and a challenge in dungeons. I am definitely on my toes, and so far almost every group told me my heals were boss. Good tanks and healers can always carry groups =P.

Yeah it's basically the opposing style to what I imagine a Templar is like (I haven't really played one yet), preemptive as opposed to reactive. All about keeping your HoTs and damage reduction rolling out to tick back damage as it happens, with the added bonus of doing some damage. I would theorise that in a Trial/12p situation NB healers would be able to use their endless mana pool to constantly top up the group so that when the ridiculous heavy damage phases come, the Templars will have practically a full bar of mana to emergency spam huge heals. I think they could synergise really well with good players behind them. To use a yucky WoW reference - we are basically a Druid/Disc priest rolled into one where Templars are the Paladin/Shaman type healers.
So far I've met a bit of resistance to this build. I've even joined a guild where the guildleader (a Templar) decided that only Templars would be allowed to heal in the guilds 12p dungons and Trials, as they are "the best and only healer" (this is before he's seen any of the end content or played any other class mind you). I agree with you that it would be limiting to take three Templar healers, but it's pretty hard to convince other people that I'm actually a healer sometimes until they actually see me in action |D

Yeah, everyone's a Templar healer fan until they actually play with a NB or Sorc healer that knows what he's/she's doing. Let them hate for now. They'll learn...

I'm not too shocked that there are still folks out there that think Templars are the healers just because they have a healing tree built into their class skills. Yet, it's not a strong showing for that guild with their leader being so misinformed. I'd probably have quit them on the spot for a guild that actually understands the game.

So how are people looking now? I'm at VR12, doing Trial content and I'd love to see what other people are doing with their builds, attribute points, gear sets etc.
One challenge I've found in Trials is that my awesome "oh sh$%" NB ultimate, Soul Siphon, becomes almost useless. Where Templars have an ultimate that will heal the entire 12p party, ours only reaches 3 people. I've been working on unlocking the PVP ultimate Barrier to cover this. So far that's the only problem I've really had though.

Took a break from my NB actually. The solo play was still just fine all the way through V2, but with the known issues, I wanted to give another class a try in order to compare group and self-healing output properly.

From 1-50, the Sorc self healing falls a little short on my particular build, but its group healing is phenomenally better. Might be just me growing as an ESO healer though. Also, even though ZOS says they fixed Sap Essence, I'm seeing evidence of the opposite. If I make it to 50 on the Sorc healer before more NB fixes are done, I may have a new main. Or maybe I'll continue to level them both for a better comparison. Still on the fence between the two though.
