[Nightblade] Cripple doesn't work on multiple mobs simultaneously?

Hello all,

yesterday I started tinkering with the skill "cripple" (Siphoning) and its morph "crippling grasp", because I thought the DoT doesn't sound too bad.

After engaging a group of mobs and casting crippling grasp on each enemy consecutively, I noticed only ONE monster actually receiving damage. Further tests confirmed this: Whenever I casted crippling grasp on two enemies, the DoT on the first enemy vanished as soon as the one on the second started.

Is this a bug or intentional? It sais nothing like this in the skills description...

I guess its a terrible way to balance the "transfer" passive, to prevent u to generate Ultimate very fast.

They should find a better way to balance this, since having this "DoT" vanish is really counter intuitive to the skill description and general idea of a DoT.

atleast sharing this info the dev's will hopefully look at it.

You should be able to apply the dot to multiple targets, but the return speed buff should not be stackable but maybe reset the timer.

Cripplying grasp is always on my hotbar.

If they wanted to balance the ult gain on it they could easily place a cap on it to only X amount of Ultimate gain per X seconds. Depending on the number they choose it could be a nerf to those using multiple siphon abilities back to back though.

I haven't found a DOT in this game that I could apply on more than one mob at a time yet. Seems silly but its whatever. It would be nice and give us a few different options on builds. NB by the way not sure if it matters I kind of just assumed the dots worked the same for all classes.

I use maleficent wreath when there is two mobs, unless I am desperate. Also, any damage from any source breaks, only good for solo.

Man, I give anything for DK talons type skill. Multiple mobs, causes damage.

Edit: wreath is not really a DoT is more like a CC, but it does damage at the end of 12secs. It is excellent for 2 mobs, but it requires separating the mobs.

    Burning talons? Multiple targets?

you don't get it lol. If it is a single target dot why cant I recast it on multiple mobs without it being removed from the first?

soul swallow, degeneration, soul trap, cripple, and wrath seem to only be able to be active on one mob only at a time. Or so it seems that way I could be wrong but I tried this to get multiple hots rolling as a nightblade so I could take on bigger packs and it didn't work. Maybe the damage works but you only receive the healing from one affect which just seems wonky.

with a pack of three mobs I cast soul swallow on each of them yet only receive one HoT. It is almost as if it just refreshes the ability on a new target. This is the same for all of the other DoTs mentions above. Like I said I am not sure about the other classes

I hate refreshing my HoT or my Sap Essence with one that gives me a lower heal/dmg. I shouldn't refresh the buff if the last one was stronger.

All I was looking for was if I could get three hots rolling from soul swallow on three different mobs by casting it on each. When I tried this I was just left with one rolling hot and a beating. I am not sure if all three were taking damage or not but the Hot just refreshed itself. I can stack the hots from different abilities though onto one mob though. So I can get a hot from entropy/degeneration and soul swallow at the same time and they don't conflict. Just seems odd I cant have those abilities running on more than one mob at a time.

would be nice to hot all three use power drain, sparks and blades spam. Then again who was I, thinking that anything but a dress and staff would be useful.

yup I do agree but I guess it would them be to powerful.

Degeneration HOT is not very good either. I keep having to use mutagen when I need extra healing.

no but the passive you gain from casting a mages guild ability is nice its like 20% to sp boost or something like that. I was very sad at the increase in damage and healing buff it got but it is uber cheap now.

No single target abilities work on multiple targets, it seems so.

If I recall, xnemesis, the soul tap dot is castable on multiple targets.

doesn't mean it's worthy as a dps ability tho.

didn't test that one due to the poor returns compared to swallow and degeneration but I will check it out when I get home. I also think the returns are given when the mob dies IIRC

Soul trap dmg is average at best. And yes the morphs both affect whether we get 2 souls OR the regen if the mob dies with dot left on it.

but the return speed buff should not be stackable but maybe reset the timer.

Is the snare and return speed buff even working nowadays? For a while it wasn't, the DoT worked, but the snare did not work on the monster, and the player got no speed buff. Last I tried it, still saw no speed transfer (though that was a while ago).

used it yesterday as I also was tinkering around with it and it's a hit and miss thing sometimes it applies the speed portion sometimes it doesnt and like the OP said putting it on a second mob is a waste of magika and like every other bot placed by the character, the shadow skill is a RNG if you get into invis with a DOT on a MOB

tried last night agony + cripple combo and it worked very well. With 1 funnel health the mob is pretty much dead as it reached me, just in time for a impale to finish off.
