Wait you mean that in an rpg, there's some skills that are better than others? SHOCKING!

It's almost like in skyrim where you could play your way, but using destruction or conjuration magic was completely pointless because a single heavy attack with a fully forged & enchanted sword heavy attack did more damage than any spell in the game....

Slow Time + Impact in destruction was MILES more OP'd than even Dual Wield Daedrics fully specced out for flurry fully enchanted and legendary.......

I modded for legendary and AI upgrades and nothing got close to that because Chain Impact dual casting with slow time didn't one-shot but Legendary scaled with you anyway. It simply turned everything into a dummy you just chain cast stunning Incinerates of death into. And once you got the +fire damage mask in Dragonborn you were close to one-shotting anyway...........

Gotta disagree, this is more of the same.

Funny, I tank in heavy armor and 1-2 pieces of medium for the stamina regen, and when I do instanced MY level, I manage to do my tanking job. =)

If your modding included any changes to magic, then yeah...you can mod anything to be OP. If not:

Lets see how your playstyle stacks up against a sneaky archer with enchanting & smithing (which btw, is one of the most powerful character you can make in the game, without modding and/or exploiting fortify enchant potions & my personal favorite archetype in TES games):

Incinerate: 60 damage, with augmented flames, 60*(1+0.5) = 90 damage. With aspect of terror, the spell does an extra 10 damage, putting it at 100 damage.

dual casting does 2.2 times the damage of two spells, so 200*(2.2) = 440 damage per attack.

Incinerate also sets target on flame for 10% damage over the next second, therefore each cast deals 440*(1.1) = 484 per cast

    oh, the mask you are talking about...+25% fire damage, so 440 * (1.25) = 550, with set on flame, that's 550 * (0.1) = 55 fire damage * (1.25 from the mask) = 68, giving you 68 + 550 = 618 per cast, skyrim always rounds down

    Vs:

Dragonbone bow base damage is 20, with max smithing you can increase that by 46 to 66. Plus dragonbone arrow's 25 damage = 91 damage before perks/skill/enchant

With 100 skill, overdraw & four +archery enchants: 91*(1+0.5*100/100)*(1+1)*(1+1.6) = 709 displayed damage in inventory

Actual damage dealt for a power attack: 709*(1+1)=1418 damage

    For a sneak attack, the base damage of the bow & arrow are multiplied by 3 but smithing increases aren't, so 20 bow + 25 arrow = 45 * 3 = 135 + the 46 smithing = 181 damage
with 100 skill & overdraw & full enchants: 181* (1+0.5*100/100)*(1+1)*(1+1.6) = 1411 effective displayed damage in inventory (if you could see your inventory while performing a sneak attack).

    Actual sneak attack: 1411 *(1+1)= 2822 damage

with critical shot: 20% chance at 150% damage, means on average:
    Power attack deals: 1418*.8 + 1418*1.5*.2 = 1559
    Sneak attack deals: 2822*.8 + 2822*1.5*.2 = 3104

With enchanting perks & destruction magic perks you can enchant that bow to deal 78 fire & 78 cold damage as well...but at this point, that damage isn't really needed & you can instead enchant for paralysis or absorb stamina or whatever floats your boat.

With sneak perk shadow warrior, you can crouch in the middle of combat & gain sneak attacks whenever you want. Meaning that unless you are odd, you'll never use anything other than sneak attacks...so effectively your attacks will deal on average 3104 + whatever enchants you want per attack....

Yes, your great incinerate spam is nice, but you deal 618 damage per cast.

A legendary dragon has over 4k health, and a fully skilled/perked/enchanted archer can kill them with on average 2 shots (actual crit damage is 4233, which means it is possible to one shot some of the types of legendary dragons)....hell, if rng is with him he can one shot most enemies in the game that aren't quest/named, with max sneak he's only very rarely even detected & if he is, all he has to do is press crouch twice (to leave & then enter shadow warrior invis) to get a sneak attack off.

Lets pretend that there are groups in skyrim, which of these two characters would you invite to DPS with you...the caster who deals 618 per attack, or the archer who is dealing 500% of the casters damage....

*edited because I realized I applied augmented flames twice resulting in higher damage for the incinerate, but I forgot you mentioned the mask, so fixed both. Also, because I wasn't thinking and multiplied the enchant damage as 1.6 instead of (1+1.6) which is wrong, i.e. if you only had +20% damage the damage would be multiplied by (1+0.2) not just 0.2

Reloaded and remodded mine recently to get occasional RP fix. Currently, a hunter / bounty hunter. Not even doing quests.
