Why do my stats count for nothing?

I went into cyrodiil last night on a new character at level 18ish. That character has 16 points in magicka, 0 in health, 0 in stamina, yet while in cyrodiil both my magicka and stamina values were identical.

This tells me there is something very wrong with the way stat scaling works for lower level characters i cyrodiil - I had initially assumed that your 'boosted' artificial level 50 stats were derived at least in some part from the points you had placed, but apparently that assumption is wrong. When you go into cyrodiil at pre-50, your stats are just some generic number that doesnt take anything about your build or character or gear into account.

I'm sure it's obvious to everyone at this point that the scaling system sucks, if you're under 50 in pvp you're going to be nigh useless. Even a vet 2 will have a significant statistical advantage over you, despite technically only being one level above what you're supposed to be 'scaled' to.

If you dont want players entering cyrodiil before vet rank, then dont allow them to - but it seems like a very poor design decision, to me, to allow characters to venture into the zone when their stat scaling is so poorly done that they'll have zero effect against anyone in the veteran ranks.

If I've got 100% of my points in magicka, even at level 18, the extroplated values should tell the game that, when in cyrodiil, my stats should reflect a level 50 character who has put 49 points into magicka, 0 into health, and 0 into stamina.
If I have a level 15 magicka enchant on my chest piece, the game should assume that I would have the equivalent of a level 50 enchant on that item instead.
Rings and amulets that give stats should be boosted to their level 50 equivalents for magicka regeneration, reduced magicka cost, so on and so forth (and this all goes for stamina or health as well).

Then, MAYBE you'd be giving those sub-50 players stats that are 'equivalent' to an actual level 50/vet1 character. Perhaps then they wouldnt be useless in cyrodiil pvp, eh?

Well.....it doesn't and it's even worse stats for characters in the lvl 40 range but I believe you should now have an option to turn that buff off so if you really don't like it you could just go without it :)

    Your stats aren't scaled ...

They are replaced with the stats of a basic level 50 character.

Go ahead and turn it off at lvl 18 and see what happens! >:)

none VR players can still help out in the war effort.... just not much 1v1.

Meaning if you lean towards a stamina or magicka heavy build, the stats you actually need or want arent being taken into consideration.

How do they expect someone focused heavily on a specific stat or build type to compete in a pvp zone when their stats are being screwed over by the system?

They are replaced but any PvE player that can level outside of Cyrodiil will destroy you...game is the most PvP un-friendly MMO ever to come out.

The game was trying to help you. That's a terrible stat distribution.
You get 15 points in health for each attribute point but only 10 in Magicka (stamina too).
You will just hit the soft-cap in magicka and be gimped on health at the same time.

If you put all your points in health and use enchantments to bring up magikca to the cap you will still have as much magicka but also gain a massive health pool.
'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.

At vet rank, that's a better path, but pvp doesnt scale up your enchants (or even take them into account), so there's no way to use enchantments to make up for the lack of stamina or magicka attributes.

Well your stats dont really matter period because if you play your character effectively or intelligently, lets say dropping points in your mana pool they freaking soft cap you so your crap is over charged anyways.

Their scaling system is pathetic and it shows how ignorant they are when it comes to PvP.

I understand your frustration, but would you really be happier if you were literally not allowed to do any sort of PvP (not to mention the PvE parts of Cyrodiil) until you hit VR1? I think that would be just as frustrating.

The suggestion that usually follows is that there should be lower level PvP areas as well. Maybe, but that creates its own set of problems when people decide they want to stick to those levels while the goal is to try to fill up Cyrodiil.

Essentially, what we have with the boosted stats is a compromise. It's not perfect. Any PvP game that's not wholly focused on BGs/arenas will have this issue. But you're not useless, you're just not powerful. It's mostly just a disadvantage in small scale fighting.
