Nightblade question.

So after seeing a few discussions regarding Nightblades being underpowered, I have a question to any NBs out there who have reached the Vet zones.
I'm a Bow/Siphoning/Medium Armor Nightblade. I just got into Eastmarch. So far, I have had no problems at all in PvE, I don't think I've even died once. I've found it much easier than with my DPS DK.

My question to any NBs out there whose build matches my own somewhat is this: does it really become "nigh impossible", as NBs are claiming, to do any PvE solo once I reach the Vet zones?

No. Your play style will need to be modified though. I use bow less often and mainly use Vamp/Siphon dual wield. AoE is non existent now and everything is kill one at a time. Bow is used a lot on mobs that resist stuns or hit harder than normal vet mobs. I have very little difficulty using the build I am using although very monotonous and boring. I can still one shot some clothes from stealth.
Its all about adjusting to the environment and trying different builds. The one I found, was really good and helped save me from wasting skill points early on.

I am a VR8 NB, DW/Bow Vamp. I have had little issue with leveling. The only issue I have is the occasional end of quest line boss fight.

Oh and do not forget the overpowered, Volcanic Rune.

Well I'm not a Vamp nor do I plan on becoming one, I also do not use AoE. None of the abilites in my rotation are, except the Siphoning Ultimate.

Unless that starts happening at the higher veteran ranks, this is completely false.

At least up through a good chunk of VR2, I regularly take on groups of 3 without issue and I'm still using the same exact build I leveled with. (Edit: Maybe I should point out that I'm DW/bow, in case that's what you're leveling as.) I even spent some time at VR1 wearing full unleveled cloth and a bunch of random skills that I just wanted to level a bit. That as hard when fighting groups, but given the deliberate gimping, that's not surprising.

The only difference I've noticed is you have to be more active about your defense because some mobs will actually do damage. That just means you should dodge/block when one of those melee mobs throws a dagger at you, basically. Not very hard.

I will say that group dungeons jump considerably in difficulty, though. I attempted to do Fungal Grotto with a group of VR1s and VR2s and we got destroyed. I think the issue was mostly just poor gear, though. I'm using nothing higher than green at the moment.

The higher veteran ranks is exactly where it starts happening. You will start to have a bit more difficulty in Vet-3 zones, then once you are in the Vet-4 and 5 zones it becomes absolutely necessary to have a lot of CC, namely AOE CC, which means Volcanic rune, which means magicka based builds instantly become king. It is a problem that the devs really need to rectify because as it stands, this game is nothing but a bunch of casters and tanks.

Vampire is not a must, but invigorated drain is a very good "oh crap" button and the ultimate is really good (for soloing public dungeons, I'd say it is a must).

You'll need volcanic rune though, I recommend you start leveling it as soon as possible.

People keep saying they heard of a friend of friend of friend of their neighbors that plays a NB and can catch up with dks and sorcs and this guy just never shows up. He would be a rock star if he existed.

V3 bow/DW/Vamp nb here with equal total in magicka and stamina (remember its your total not ranks that give damage). No volcanic rune.

I can take out up to 4 V5 mobs atm but if I hadn't been a vamp the cap would have been 3 x V4.

Seriously I don't think it is viable to play a classic assassin type NB in veteran areas without being a vampire.

    Vet5 NB 2hder/bow

I've yet to have an issue with content, yes I have to be careful and pay attention but I'm still finding it easy to do.

I do fairly well with a 1hand shield technique.

There is a downside though, I have problems if I miss a stealth attack or my dot does not critical. Timing is everything.

I eat stam pots like they going out of style tho, without my rings and armor sets lowering the times I wouldnt even try it.

Also group dependent for certain dungeons

Without medium armor I would not be able to regen fast enough.

Most people dont have a setup like that though so I could understand the frustration, I found it takes a lil dedication and patience to run it smoothly. Even then things pop out of the woodwork that make it much more interesting.
