On www.broadsword.com you will find a message from Broadsword president: Rob Denton about the recent events regarding EA Mythic. I am reaching out to you today to provide you with my personal assurance that the team here at Broadsword remains committed to our investment in Dark Age of Camelot.

Ah well that's good. Still shame Warhammer is gone since public quest and RvR in every zone was enjoyable honestly Warhammer is probably in my top five MMO

WAR was my TOP MMO ever...
    • PC EU. Ebonheart Pact. CP 1k+
    • YouTube: All ESO disguises (2014)
    • EU players are humans too! We want our maintenances in the least pop time (at deep night) and not lasted for several hours!
    • Animation canceR - is true PvP cancer! When you can't see which actions your opponent do - you can't react properly on them!

"Its last release was the poorly-received free-to-play iOS title Dungeon Keeper, which came out in October 2013 and currently boasts a Metacritic rating of just 42/100. It's not a great note to go out on, but EA did say that the game will "continue to be serviced" under the guidance of a new team."

Actually it has a Metacritic user score of 0.3, and IMO that's being generous. They took a fantastic title and well loved classic and absolutely trashed it, turning into nothing more than another "free to play but not really" money sucking wallet vampire. If that's the type of thing they were going to be churning out from here on, I'd say EA did gamers a favor by shutting them down.

Warhammer was a huge disapointment. Avoid everyone in PVP and take undefended keeps. if your side wasnt winning you would just wait for a reset. DAOC is still going strong

Yeah, that wasn't the "real" Mythic though. It was Bioware-Mythic that developed the awful game that used the Dungeon Keeper name and is really nothing more then a game kind of like the real Dungeon Keeper, but w/ horrendous roadblocks that limit gameplay until you shell out a couple more bucks. However, as we all know, Bioware-Mythic (now just Bioware again I guess) is really nothing more then a studio that is capitalizing on the names and legacies of two legendary developers, when really there are very few developers left from before either joined EA.

It's a shame, EA was doing pretty well for awhile there w/ their EA-labels (or w/e it was called) that helped fund smaller scale and indie devs, and all the AAA quality studios it purchased. But then they reverted to their old shenanigans, changing the direction of WAR development to what it eventually turned out to be (and I know this b/c I was in the very first phase of closed beta after friends and family, before the blackout) which eventually led to pushing out Mark Jacobs. Then they did almost the same thing w/ Bioware, imho one of the best PC-centric developers in history. Seriously, Bioware and Blizzard used to be on the same level...but then they were each bought by the mega-publishers, which of course only stifled creativity and originality.

I still mourn WAR, for the HUGE potential that was there when I first entered the game. I mean all they had to do was make DAoC 2 set in the Warhammer universe. I mean, can you imagine if that's what WAR turned out to be? It would have been the most amazing MMO ever made, and I believe that's what they set out to create. The problem came when WoW came out w/ it's Battlefields, and Mythic turned in that direction instead of the Keep capturing and frontier that they had in DAoC...

It's sad to read about Mythic's passing, but the writing was on the wall once they pushed Mark Jacobs out, and even more so once they were melded into Bioware. Well, hopefully Marc Jacobs can finally make the DAoC 2-esque game he's been wanting to w/ Camelot Unchained. I contributed to the Kickstarter, and it's finally starting to shape up, got a long way to go, but so far so good.
