Zenimax Hates New Subscribers?

I purchased the game about a week ago, and went through some issues with pre-authorizations to my bank account. I went through some hoops with support and ethics regarding pre-authorization charges for a game company... But settled down and played the game - because it's awesome. I kept my subscription because I had some friends coming over from other games.

This isn't about my issue.

Yesterday one of said friends purchases the game and like me, enjoyed the game. Today they attempted to log in, and was told the account was invalid. They checked their account settings on this site, and it said they canceled their subscription.

They have been sitting on support hold for over four hours, submitted a call back request and a email ticket.

This is nuts.

Sorry to hear this, ZoS has had some trouble with subscriptions and stuff, but dont give up, the game is awesome as you said

That is one strange thing that they say is common in other games - you need to setup subscription plan (register you credit card) or your access is blocked even if you just purchased the game and still have 30 days of play.

Did your friend provide payment information? If they haven't setup a payment method or buy a game card it won't work.

Authorizing your credit card is not unethical and is quite common. I do dev work on our money system and we do it too. It's sole purpose is to make sure your card is valid and, depending on how much money the authorization is for, to check to make sure your card can be charged for whatever amount the authorization was for. Nothing unethical or conspiratorial.

Yes. Like I said they were able to play after buying the delux version of them game. Played it that day. Now - cannot.

Little update. They found out their account has been banned. Support is "escalating" the issue to the "top of the list for unban requests"... 48-72 hours eta for response.

Pretty much my experience regarding time frame for hearing back about the pre-authorization charge sitting on my account for a week after the original purchase amount went through.

Holding the amount for over a week past the original amount left my bank account doesn't feel right.

Its not just new players. Hasn't happened to me, but I've seen lots of posts about it. I think their billing system has a lot of issues.

Actually, this helps out a ton with botters and gold-spammers. They are hackers who also steal credit cards, so pre-authorization makes their bans actually cost them money now.
