Elder Scrolls Online PVP Concerns.

First off I want to start out by saying the reason I am making these post is because for the most part I enjoy the game and I can see the potential. Its
definitely in its Vanilla stage but if you want people around years down the road to even refer to a Vanilla ESO then you have to keep progressing the game.

I am going to shoot straight with you, pvp sucks! Yea so the big open world pvp zone is neat but there is nothing that is pulling me in, making me want to go there which is a shame because in every other MMO i have played I spent hours pvping in battlegrounds. I want more smale scale battles and 1 vs 1 encounters so that I can test my skill as a player, not huge zerg feast pvp that had nothing at all to do with skill and everything to do with who has the highest numbers and better ground composition.

You need battlegrounds!! That is just a fact. I would do what World of Warcraft did and make level cap BGs as well as low level BGs and not follow Star Wars: The Old Republic's stupid one where all levels were together with a buff. Why, I will tell you why because people like to build their characters towards player versus player and when you add low level to the mix it dumbs down the experience for the high levels and is unfair for the low levels.

I know you don't want to balance the game around small scale pvp or 1 vs 1 pvp and to that I have to say tough titty! You don't get to decide what is fun and what is not fun, we the players decide that and if you want to keep us around you need to make this game more fun by adding more pvp content. another suggestion is do what rift did and make skills and talents designed exclusively for pvp.I know their are currently ability's that are pvp oriented but none of them seem to justify replacing any of my current ones on my hotbar. Makes something that someone could not turn down!

Come on Zenimax I am counting on you to deliver! I have been waiting for an MMO for years to draw me back in since WOW burnt me out and this one has potential. However Star Wars had it as well until I got to level 50 and had nothing to do. The game pretty much made me quit because I really didn't want to. I love Star Wars but when you make an MMO as cluelessly as Bioware did then it forces me out! With that said I am still holding strong with ESO so far but just thought I should point out the obvious before its to late.

If only the devs gave a *** about PvP....
    Cyrodiil Issues as of 6/3/2014
    - Massive Lag since Craglorn patch.(Still bad lag on "Laggajack" NA and some other campaigns.)
    - Forward Camps and other Siege bugging out frequently
    - Caltrops granting Immunity to Siege Weapon Damage
    - Massive Faction Imbalances in Most Campaigns / Several Dead Campaigns
    - Mercenary Mage Spam (sometimes causing them to go invulnerable)
    - Players exploiting Keeps/Scrolls through DK Chain Pulls to go around defenses

    Yay Zenimax is doing things.

Well if they don't start to then they are going to alienate probably a majority of the people who play MMOs. That is why I am posting this. I want this game to work but they are going to have to start seeing eye to eye with the players on this.

As long as they are getting their monthly subs paid by each, individual caltrop that is littering Cyrodiil right now, Zenimax is just fine.

For perspective, I feel the exact opposite of the OP. The game was pretty clear before release of what PvP was. Some like the large scale warfare, some don't. The part that continues to baffle me is people who came to this game where the end game PvP was large scale warfare, looking for small scale, 1v1, battlegrounds etc. that is offered is so many other games. As a fan of this games type of PvP I would like to see them keep developing the game around it, and not to waste development on a completely different PvP that is offered in so many other games

My biggest PvP concern is the blatantly ignorant client/server code that even allows you to enter godmode, besides the usual, speed, fly, clipping, radaring etc.

I legitimately like the PVP warfare of Cyrodiil. But it is so broken, so bugged, that it's literally detrimental to my ability to have fun in this game to go into Cyrodiil.

And then there is the lack of response from Zenimax about every single issue that goes wrong in pvp. Taking over 3 weeks to fix the Caltrops issue is insane.

How can you leave an exploit in that makes SIEGE WEAPONS (YOU KNOW? THAT THING YOU PUT IN THE GAME TO SIEGE WITH) useless for 3 weeks?

Also to the OP there is a LOT more opportunities for small scale PVP in this game than you realize.

The zergs MAINLY go after keeps as that's the MOST efficient use of their strength.

For say a 6 man group you have resources and elder scrolls.

The best thing you can do to help the campaign is figure out where the big battles are and assist by cutting off the transit lines pushing the respawn point for the opposing zerg further away. Doing this requires all 3 resources to a keep.

You can also take a 6 man group and go for the Elder Scrolls as this also assists the zerg by buffing them and in a sense debuffing the opposing zerg.

But this requires a well thought out group and strong communication where for most people joining the zerg is quick and easy to jump in and out of and easy to feel like you are contributing.

The Faction that will win is the Faction that will use several 6 man group to turn the tides of in their favor.

Defending keeps is VERY important as well as you want to claim all keeps to crown an emperor for as long as possible.

Happend to a friend and I yesterday. So we decided to investigate. Only to discover plenty of tools and videos with radaring capabilities.

Yet another example of Zenimax offloading everything they can to the client so the "megaservers" dont die in a lagfest.

The most brilliant part tho is the health. It also explains why you can sometimes experience to survive things you absolutely shouldnt when everything lags badly. Its entirely up to your client. Also if you level up while dead, you also respawn because you then have a positive health.

Yep. This is very true. Those tools are out there and there have been cases of people using them, but it's always a bit hard to tell.

When players pinpoint random located stealthed players without even as much as deviate from the direct path to all of them. Then you know they cheat with radar.

Stopped reading when you started talking about small group PvP. This game never promoted having any kind of battlegrounds or small scale Pvp. From day one it was advertised as a war, 3 factions, large battlefield type game. The devs have been asked this on many AMA's on reddit and they have said there is no plans for any small scale PvP as they feel it will draw away from Cyrodil. they need to get Cyrodil sorted and all the plans they have for it sorted before anything else. We are beating a dead horse here.

This is large scale seige warfare, and that is what it is promoted as. Now with that being said you can still find your 1v1 and small skirmishes everything. That is actually what i enjoying fighting in. You can find these happening on teh outskirts of the keep seiges or hotspots, you can also camp the route from where the enemies port to and run out to the hot spots. There are endless skirmishes and ambushes here. Remember every class can stealth so you can easiliy avoid the zergs and groups. Look at your map and see what is being seiged, then look at what keep the enemies port to, now wait between those points on the map.

This game does not set up matches and hold your hand. You have to go find them but it is very easy. The unknown of what is out there or coming makes it so much better than a set match, BG or arena. and also with this system you are contributing to the war, not a BG match that has no importance after it is over.

    1. Too much walking. DAoC had the size about right for RvR.
    2. Skill lag

I agree there should be multiple tier PvP areas, again like DAoC. It was about perfect. The lvl 19 pvp was some of the most fun in the game.

    I agree100%.

I love this pvp and I would hate arena style. Everyone I pvp with, also love it.

It will always be weird to me how people come to online rpg games mainly to pvp and then later boast of uber skills, and take great effort to establish what is right and wrong in pvp.

Ever heard of battlefield? 14k knife kills, thats real. Real pvp.
