Dodge Rating vs Dodge % - Dev's please help

In short, my question is this; What on Earth does 200 dodge rating do?

It's obvious that it increases your chance to dodge, but what attacks? And by how much? How are we supposed to build our gear around stats that we don't understand? I'm in the process of crafting v12 legendary gear (full set of both medium and heavy) yet I have to take a gamble on what sets to actually use.

Hist bark = 200 dodge rating
Spectre's Eye = %20 dodge chance

How do they compare? And why hasn't any dev's replied to any of the posts concerning the ambiguity of stats? It has been long enough to have some of these questions answered, please help.

further more, is it even worth making crafted sets? The sets that drop in dungeons and trials seem to be far superior anyway. So much for "crafted gear will be the best gear in the game"...

Crafted shouldn't be the best but it should be on par. I agree though that the crafted sets aren't up to snuff and need to me made more competitive with dropped sets. There's a lot of unique dropped set bonuses that have no crafted equivalent

As I understand it, the dropped gear is supposed to be better at the same level to make it worth keeping. At <50 I don't care as it doesn't level with me and therefore it isn't worth keeping no matter what they think. I turn into materials or hand it to alts, mostly materials now.

On the OP though, I've wondered that myself. Is "Dodge Rating" a measure of Damage Reduction and "Dodge Chance" a measure of increased chance?

200 dodge rating is equal to 20% to dodge.

Exact opposite. Crafted is supposed to be better than dropped.

I agree that dropped sets are superior, and that the crafted sets just aren't on par... even with the new patch. As far as whether or not crafted gear should be better though, I only say that because it was announced pre-release that crafted gear would in fact be the best gear in the game. Crafted gear being better or worse than dropped gear is purely dependent on each players individual opinion (which is fine either way to me). The issue I have (and many others on the forums) is that a lot of time and resources have been spent on crafting due to being told "the best gear in the game will come from crafters"... which is simply just not true.

200 dodge rating is equal to 20% to dodge.

First off, I am not saying you are wrong by any means, as a matter of fact I would like to believe that. However; where is the proof or what is your logic behind that? Or even, where is a post that shows this?

Show me one crafted set that is even on par with Warlock.. Although, if you get a full jewelry warlock, you pay for that by overcharged Magicka regen and being unable to use enchants, since set items have locked enchants :s

For 20% to be equal to 200, then you must have 1000 dodge rating already. Is there a way to get that info?

@ArRashid‌ my crafted gear is better then warlock, for me :)

It is specified in the API, I made an add-on for personal use that tells me the ratings and the percentages.

    @Yakidafi‌

I don't understand your meaning, if you had 1000 dodge rating, you would dodge every attack against you.

So 1000 armour make you immortal too?

Is there any public addons which tell a player this info?

Is the 'chance' and 'rating' two different systems to dodging, or do they add to the same pool?

Maybe this helps. There's even a parry stat in the game? Go figure...

If it is in fact 20% chance to dodge, why would they not use 20% chance to dodge like they do on the Spectre's Eye set? Seems like something is either off, or this is just one more poorly designed stat/mechanic by the devs.

Still waiting on a Dev to make a single comment in reference to dodge

Games these days are made with toolkits, which are pieces of software full of hand-holdy drag and drop features, dropdown menus, scripting languages, etc. This allows non-technical people to make content. When non-technical people make content, often times the rules and regulations technical people would impose and follow are not imposed and followed. Add more and more non-technical people to the mix and suddenly you have a nonstandardized mess.

In short, Johnny chose "Dodge Rating" from a drop down list when filling out the form to create that item when Billy, Susie, Jerry, Tom, Steve, and Harry all chose "Dodge Chance" in the dropdown when creating literally everything else.

And "Dodge Rating" is only in the list in the first place because Danny didn't see "Dodge Chance" when making a new item one day, and asked one of the tools developers to add it to the drop down three years ago. Danny no longer works on the project so there was no one to clean "Dodge Rating" from the list.

Things like this happened hundreds of times, and they'll spent the next few years fixing it. This is the amazing time-saving power of toolkits.

Well then I guess its a good thing that the players can clarify things for each other since Zenimax clearly has more important things to do.
