And he failed.. We was standing there at the ritual stone looking stupid.
Apparently the others who came by couldn't get it working either.

So is it bugged or are we doing something wrong?

I had same problem when biting my friend. Just as @Urmi said, you need to press it many many times in hopes it happens before the time runs out. Good luck!
