Ok, so at first, I was really keen on the idea of an account-wide bank system. The idea all my characters can share items, gold and draw crafting items from the bank was innovative and seemed to be a first tht other games may copy. I was blinded by the reality of this poorly-thought out system.

First, it is true that you get 60 slots in the bank and in your personal bag, and yes, many fanboi's pointed out that it was way larger than other mmo's gave you to start with. The issue initially is that amount of space is simply not enough. If you play only one single character, then its more than enough, its huge. One character can only do one crafting skill, if you try to do two or more then your space is not going to allow collection of the items you need. The issue is structure of crafting; its different than other games. For example, in alchemy you need every weed type you find from level 1 to level 50, the weeds do not become outleveled and thus you need to collect every type for your entire career on ESO. That's a lot of bank space held up by herbs.
If you do any kind of smithy skills, or clothing, you will need to collect not only style ingredients, but trait stones as well. Again, a huge amount of space to commit to your bank.

Now the real issue; You cant keep your collected crafting materials on your person, its too much to carry and leaves you with a very small amount of space to go adventuring with. You can put your crafting items in the bank, which should solve the problem, but alas, your bank is already full because you don't play a single character, you play a few different ones. I have 3 playable characters, a NB, a SORC and a TEMP. I want to do a DK, but I cannot; I have no character slots left.

Why do I have no character slots left, you ask? Seems I have 3 characters and 8 slots, yet I am full... Yes, my other characters slots are taken up with bank holding characters. I have two bank characters dedicated to just holding food items I find. One more to holding Misc crafting items, Another to holding Trait gems, styles items. And yes, there is more.

I only need to have these worthless characters because each of my three playable characters have a different crafting skill and the shared account bank can only hold a single skill's worth of items. I am quite sure it was not intended to have only one crafting skill per account.

Since my wife and I play together on separate accounts, we also have the luxury of mail bouncing. I send my wife 6 items I want to store in a mail and she just returns to sender. I let them sit in my inbox, nice and stored. I also think this is a horrible way of bypassing the storage system, but I have to do it.

Now the suggestion of how to fix this issue:

GET RID OF THE ACCOUNT WIDE BANK.
Each character has their own bank. Problem solved. I can now do a different crafting skill with each character I have and not hold up 5 slots with worthless banking characters. I can empty my mail in game and use it for actual mail.

    I disagree.
I have several characters that I play, they all have their own professions, and the shared bank system works well.
I upgrade my bank and bags as often as I can, and clean out my inventory at least once or twice a night.

I guess I have learned to manage my inventory according to available space, the system is designed to keep you travelling light. I melt everything to mats that wont be used for research in the next couple of days. Research items are stored on the alt that will be researching it. I only store base mats in the bank. I never let mats pile up, I use them regularly. I sell anything that cant be melted and wont be used. I only use my gold income to repair, feed mounts and expand on bagspace, I don't buy stuff from other players.
Across my characters, each profession is represented twice, I craft on one, pop the items in the bank to be picked up by the alt with the same craft, he melts, crafts something else and returns until it's burned down.

Currently my bank has 30 free slots, and most of my alts carry around 20 items after a bag cleanout. Just don't try to stockpile stuff and the system works fine :)

Have to agree that it's the desire to stockpile that will get you. As soon as I realized that most mats rain from the sky in this game and that I really didn't need to be stockpiling, I stopped having so many issues.

That's not to say that things couldn't be better. IMO, if we're going to have shared bank space, then they need to either lower the cost of upgrades or give us more slots per upgrade.

    I completely disagree.

The bank idea system is GREAT! It adds even more flavour to YOU being the one who chooses what is most worth for you.

And I say this being a pack rat myself. I pick up everything and every time I play I have to choose what to carry or get rid of, what the most important things are to keep.

    I LOVE the idea.

I do want the lag while trying to access the guild bank fixed, but I hope such a ´minor bug is very low on their fix list. Also, you just need to exit bank mode and try again. It always works at one point

Features that DO needs to be fixed in the bank is primarly about the guild bank and guild store.

    1. Fix the history, so you CLEARLY can see who used the bank, in or out, in the log for AT LEAST a few days.

    2. Zenimax has confirmed they are working on this but be able to group items in the bank. The reason its not possible atm is to completely make the "getting doubble items" exploit impossible. I am a guildmaster myself and I spend a good hour fixing the guild bank every day.

This bug however I hope is "medium" on the list. Or wouldnt you people with serious problems like not be able to play rather they fix that first then figure out this exploit. It works....its just takes time. I MUCH rather wait for a fix then bring in exploits who seams to be something people LIKE to do????

BUT, the account wide bank is I THINK a new feature for an MMO and fits PERFECTLY in what ESO is about. The saga about you and what YOU decide is the best.

I dont even use "banking character", it would be a bit like cheating.

Yes, I cant store everything. But guess what, this feature increases you choices impact for the game on YOU and the evolving world. Why? Because if something that most people didnt even think about what use it could be....would REALLY want it and very few have it since most sold it/didnt pick up etc......simply adds more to your game.

Every character can purchase more bank space. On one character that is now VR2 Ive been able to purchase enough bank space that I now have 100 slots. If you split that up across your three to four characters you should have plenty of room.

    Just buy the slots.

More seriously then an huge faction of the player base is packrats and you have restrictive storage in banks who can be much easier with 2-300K gold / 20-30$ you pretty much have an goldsellers paradise.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

You can get the bank up to at least 220 slots, that I know of. It's expensive, but you only have to do it once, and then you have access to it on all your characters. Worth it IMO. I do agree that the earlier bank upgrades need to be cheaper though.

While I agree that the costs for the first few expansions may need to be tuned down a little, I think the banking system as a whole is okay when combined with the frequency that you get said items.

The issue is less that the bank isn't big enough (it's huge after expansions) but that the expansions scale up very quickly with limited slot expansions.. and lower level folks don't typically have the gold for them. The gold isn't so much a problem when you get into higher level and vet content, especially if you're selling some of the stuff you get (honing stones, pitch, and hemming I have always had a -ton- of, and they sell pretty quick).

On my main account I've got my bank at 120 slots, and 8 characters - each with 80 slots of bag space, except for my main, who has 100 slots plus 49 from his horse. I do every craft except for alchemy. I don't have a problem with the bank system.
