Horse Animations

So, sitting on my horse next to someone else in Velyn Harbour today, I noticed that his horse and my horse moved in exactly the same way at exactly the same time. I dismounted and mounted - same. I reared - same. I moved around a bit and came back - same.

So, all horse animations follow the same pattern and are on the same global timer?

You lazy sods, ZoS. Lazy, lazy, lazy.

    My guess, Yes and no.
I've seen this with flocks of birds etc.

They seem to have the same animation sequences but they seem to start the animation on some sort of pulsed trigger with a fixed probability.

Assume the trigger pulses once per second and the probability of a proc is say 1 in 2 then the chances are 1 in 4 that your horse and another will synchronise the animation exactly.
Raising the frequency of the trigger and dropping the probability will make it look more random.
This is all client based - what you see and what the other person sees are different for these non-interacting, unimportant details

They ain't being lazy, they are trying to keep bandwidth and processor/GPU use as low as possible.
'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.
