I am beginning to lose faith in my build. I built my sorcerer around having awesome CC, and a HUGE amount of survivability. In addition, in party's I always have a Massive reserve of mana on hand as a backup healer.

However, whenever I try to group up for a dungeon they ask my my dos (hovers just above 300-350 depending on how lucky I am) and then I get dropped. (Vet1 character)

This is my current build

Magic 14point
Health 21point
Stam 14point

Heavy Armor, all aspects unlocked with skill points. Because of my play style I pull aggro. Heavy Armor gives me some more survivability.

DPS setup
1. Crystal Blast (Used as an opener to knockdown healer and modest AoE)
2. Lightning Flood (Used as Followup AoE)
3. Restraining Prison (AoE CC, used to lockdown all mobs to reduce damage taken by group.
4. Rapid Strikes (Stam ability that is used throughout fight to preserve mana pool in case healer falls behind.
5. Twilight Matriarch (Used to increase survivability, if healer lets me drop to low health this little buddy saves me some serious repair costs.

Healing Setup.
Not much to say here, All 5 skills equipped. And always have mana to heal if the healer starts dropping the ball. just a weapon swap and peoples assess are covered.

When I built the character I thought he would be pretty damned handy in a group, but it appears not. I am debating going to a pure classic Mage build.

Out of curiosity, how much damage do you other sorc's do? I mean.. If I am less than half, I don't care how sweet I think my character is. gotta rebuild him.

most players should avg 500ish dps on a sorc, the really good sorc would be closer to 850+ dps.
your downfall is probably from the fact you've spread your class to thin trying to run its dps off both magicka and stamina.
Your magicka/Stamina pools also determine your dps output because they increase the effects of your skills just like weapon power and spell power.
If you wish to keep your current setup then try focus on either stamina or magicka for your rotation and see if that helps and respec your attributes accordingly.
though most people would tell you to put all your attributes into health and then enchant your gear to magicka
you could also drop heavy armour for light if you want even more dps for your magicka based skills

That's a tad low, but nothing to kick you for, especially if you off heal. I'd say crystal blast is not even viable, crystal shards is much better. Lighting flood is alright, and the real kicker to your dps is the matriarch and restraining prison. I'd invest in either the mages guild aoe or your weapon aoe. Also, if you want armor I'd run bound armor with light armor equipped, since you get light armor benefits with the armor ranking of heavy armor.

Righton, Good to know thanks guys. Yea definitely gonna have to respec. If not at least to get all the dungeons done.

then respec back to my current build when I want to screw around haha. Honestly this build is so fun to play, even if it is a little bunk.

Something else too point out is, your amour is stoping your damage switch too light amour 5/2 medium if you got bound amarments which adds amour and damage you would probly be better off, something else too look at which I think is right up your alley is synergize your build, drop lighting flood get the one that does more damage, then drop the lighting on them do some other intern attacks and go in there with your worlwind AoE and slap them which it while they are in the CC, so that would be additional crit chance while CC (passives) damage from light, now when they hit 25% health CC them again so now you have a huge amount of crit v the mobs now you have a finisher. Also drop points outa health get your magic up too 2k put rest into stamina and then into health which will increase both parts of your damage.
