Goodbye provisioning

Looks like I'm speccing out of this garbage.

It was already IMPOSSIBLE to find recipes.

I'm a level 29, almost 30. I have provisioning of rank 50. I can build a total of four blue recipes and one purple drink recipe. They're all level 22 or lower

I haven't had a new recipe in EIGHT *** LEVELS. in the ENTIRETY of Shadowfen I haven't found a single new recipe.

And now, what's this? Oh, nerfing the recipe drop rates EVER FURTHER?

Are you all high?

It was damn near impossible to get blue recipes before and now it's just going to stupidly, ridiculously hard. And to think I wanted to find a purple food recipe!

Say goodbye to THAT dream!

Yeah I haven't had any in what over a week, note even a green one. Last night 2 blues, 1 purple and a couple of greens. Shame as I had them all anyway.

But what I want to know is how often people think rare items should be dropping. For many they feel its every other drop.

If we are comparing drop rates, I get about 1/3 as many recipe drops as green gear drops. I get 0-1 blue gear drops per day, and 0-1 blue recipe drops a week. I have seen a grand total of 1 purple recipe drop.

As far as motifs go, I haven't noticed much of a change, but I've never been one of those "farming six an hour" type people. I find another motif every week or two.

I have never seen anyone selling a purple recipe in vet areas (and lots of people selling rare motifs there) I have only seen 2 people in zone chat able to make purple vet 5 food. So seriously, increase the recipe drop rate. Or the prices for purple recipes will be higher than any rare motif. And for a provisioner recipes are ESSENTIAL. A woodworker can live without the rare motifs...

What if I told you that your expectations of what a "rare" and "epic" drop are have been unfairly influenced by games that hold your hand?

The word epic in and of itself is so broken now
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

I think the point is that recipes, necessary for the effective use of provisioning, need to drop more, otherwise the crafting line is virtually useless. With no vet level drops of food/beverage bases, no vet level food at all in vet level areas, the impossibility of getting certain items such as tomatoes and oats, and the incredible scarcity of recipes of blue and purple, it is far less useful than any other line, and the second hardest (in spite of the ease of levelling) to get max use out of, only nudged out by enchanting. Motifs are visual fluff...nobody refuses a Vet 10 gold armor because it isn't the right racial motif, so they don't compare, and everything else in the weapon/armor lines is far easier to get than the rare items in provisioning. Also provisions get used up, so must be renewed. Once you have a V10 chestpiece, you can keep it forever if you like. Alchemy water for vet levels is widely available from V1 areas on, and the other reagents are literally everywhere. And it raises quickly. Enchanting is the only one that is harder to deal with, and even it doesn't have the sheer volume of items requiring bank space that provisioning does if you want to provide a wide range of goods for your guild or friends.

Why do people feel they should have everything....the game is a month old. Guess what in Real MMO's people do not get some stuff for years.

Bit like life but using that on people is a wasted statement.

To be honest the argument is mute, once you hit the higher recipes you will need very little storage as the items needed are pretty small. So what if there is 3 different faction versions of the same recipe. they do the same thing.

Am I glad they are hard to find, hell yeah. Am I worried they will be harder, nope it keeps me playing.

The recipe and motif drop rate nerf is not new information. The nerf actually happened a few weeks ago this is jut the verification of the nerf not an additional one.

Why does this MMO need to behave like other MMOs? Why can't it chart its own course? What is wrong with pleasing the game's customer base -the players?

Can't find recipes? Isn't that what guilds and zone chat are for?

To talk to people who may have better luck than you at getting these drops to sell them.

There is not another nerf to the drop rate. There was an official response in another thread that the nerf was implemented in 1.05 or 1.06 and they forgot to include it in those patch notes. There was not another change to the drop with this patch.

When were we supposed to start finding veteran level provisioning items inside containers in veteran level zones? I just found some level 22 drinks inside one of the desks in the VR2 version of Wayrest.

I have a V3 Templar, 45 Soc and 38 DK and have never seen a purple recipe and between them all maybe a dozen blues. So I say you are full of shi*!

I check every damn bag, barrel, backpack, and back pocket in every zone.

the implication is that this is not a game that holds your hand. i have never seen a game that holds your hand more than this one.

Because if you give the players of any game access to all of the content/items immediately then you end up with people shouting for more content comparatively quickly.

However, if you arrange for the content/items to become available at a slow but steady pace then the player base runs into a situation where they have seen/done/collected it all far later... giving you time to have already developed the next lot of areas/abilities/items.

The only thing about reducing drop rates that I don't like is that gold and item farmers then make more real money from doing that.

Here we have Zenimax saying they are actively seeking out gold and item farmers and bots and then they reduce drop rates which makes gold and item farmers more viable...

So if the dev team can't come up with more creative ways to keep people wanting to pay to play then reducing drop rates then why should I bother to report gold sellers/famers? I get at least 2 to 3 in game mails a day advertising gold and item sellers, I have been getting those emails since launch and I reported them repeatedly but with the poor way the dev team tackles these problems I feel it is a waste of my time to even report them any longer....

Hey.... so if they reduce the drop rate, how much more farming do they have to do just to sell these things?
