Yes it's an mmo and it should feel like an mmo but I do know many people including the devs wanted to capture the single player feel. My opinion they did pretty damn good but some don't think so. I have come up with a solution to this.

Later with an expansion have it be more of a single player map, like the normal zones for leveling. It would be for end game. So we would have an entire map that would level you from VR 12 to VR 13. You can go anywhere you'd like to explore and quest. It would not be like a zone now where you can't go anywhere you want because you'd be killed instantly from higher levels enemies. Just one big massive zone for vr12 players. Pretty much craiglorn but it won't require a min of 4 players to go through it.

Um, the whole zone is there to explore for everyone. They just suggest you dont go alone or just as Veteran lvl

The zone is NOT just a 12 man raid, heh. Read up kiddow.

Which is what the OP said: ESO has become a 1990s group-or-die game as Craglorn is the only viable PVE way to level beyond VR10 and ZOS have made it perfectly clear it's set up for GROUPS even just to do over-world quests.

And the problem here is? They are creating a zone for high levers? I am pretty sure in due time, there will be high levelers. Maybe not next week...but in time.

    Where is the problem?

I see ESO the same way as swtor. A single player online game with multiplayer elements. And you know what? I'm ok with that.

I love how suddenly the whole feel of every ES game is captured by exploring zones.

Yes. Please let me explore the other 2 alliance zones I didn't start in. I can't wait to find all those...oh. Ingredients in barrels. As if it wasn't already being implemented.

It'll be lovely. Just like every ES game evar.

    Classless? Overrated.

Nice huge treasure chests at the end of dungeons (that you can actually open for loot)? Fah!

    Small scale pvp? Who cares?

    Non-quest-based exploration? Piffle!

Let's explore zones that can already be explored. It truly is the answer!

Sorry, but I think single-player content is the last thing that Zenimax needs to focus on. More areas & game mechanics that reinforce socializing would be much better appreciated. There are single player Elder Scrolls games that scratch that itch.

Right there, the problem that runs like a San Andreas faultline through every MMO -the widely-held and nonetheless baffling POV that players in an MMO MUST socialize because it's an MMO and that the game mechanics should push in that direction, and those that hold with that view not being able to see how counter-productive it is.

The mix in ESO is actually better than in any other MMO I've ever played. I group here far more often than I ever did playing WoW (not if I couldhelp it), Champions Online (never), or Age of Conan (rarely) . And the reason for it is that most of the time I'm allowed to feel that grouping is my choice. Yeah, there are exceptions to this, but compared with other MMOs the lack of pressure to group aids immersion and significantly adds to my enjoyment and in consequence makes me more open to donating my playtime to other people.

You know what I loved about SWTOR... the fact that I could actually play it from beginning to end all by myself. Its also what I love best about ESO.

I love Massive games of scope and don't mind paying a subscription price to get them. That doesn't mean I need or want lots of people around.

People complaining that the game doesn't feel like an MMO, maybe should stop telling others what kind of game they should be playing.

Grouping should be a CHOICE, not a mandatory experience. For that ESO gets my full praise.
