Mannimarco

jamesgiordaneb17_ESO
Looking for hints, tips, anything, I thought Doisha and Balreth were hard as solo's (before they were nerfed) - I spent time working on lyris' doppelganger and now can beat her, but as a high elf vampire nightblade I am having serious problems with mannimarco on the main quest

I find that I cannot block his attacks fast enough, I have once managed to get it so he has opened the 2nd portal

please could someone give me a pointer or two as I have run out of patience that I already have a vamp DK alt close to meeting him, which I'm pretty sure will trounch him, but what to do him first with my NB first
  • jamesgiordaneb17_ESO
I have no idea what the hell I am doing wrong on this fight, he kills me so quickly that it isn't fun in anyway shape or form, as far as I know its him and molag bal that are all that are stopping me from getting any XP as I'm already VR1

Please if any one has any ideas, NB builds, or just a good way of dealing with him I would really appreicate it, as he is becoming a deal breaker for me on how to progress in this game

If this is where you go with Lyriss to get AT then it's the skeleton casters that are frying your ass.

Start stealthed, so they do not target you and let em' spawn, It's unusually slow, then identify the casters and just go nuts on them. The other guys are barely dangerous and Lyriss is almost useless.
  • jamesgiordaneb17_ESO
Thanks, but no its after that, I have Lyris, AT and Sai Sahan with me for this fight, which you would think would help - but for me its not :(

Run up the stairs and hide in the little cubbyhole (leave Sai and Lyris with him). Kill all the ghosts that chase you to your hiding spot until he doesn't send any more..........then go kill him!

You need to do this a few times......and if I recall the little cave is only at the top of one set of stairs (It's been a while.....sorry).

After you kill all his ghost mobs and go after him..........If I recall, he jumps around a lot....drop you ultimate on him when you get him low.

  • jamesgiordaneb17_ESO
Well almost an hour trying to find the cubby hole and he is still managing to send his spells after me, I last longer but cannot keep my health up, have found some bugs though where he has managed to blast me through a door and the ward is back up even though the door to the room is still open... one day I might work out how to do damage to him rather than spending my time blocking and hoping the others do enough damage to him that I can go in for the kill
  • jamesgiordaneb17_ESO
Oh should have mentioned can't drop my ultimate on him, as I am already VR1 and so cannot use it against it as I can't build it up

I thought I recalled that the stairs you walked down before the fight where the stairs I ran back up........and then turned right......a little hole (cave) at the end where his spell can't reach?
  • jamesgiordaneb17_ESO
Think I found the cubby hole, unfortunately he apparently gave up and the fight reset so he was back to full health.... having checked various videos it looks like health is the key so using 2 restro staff abilities is helping me... but then I run into lag and die which is really frustrating, but at least I've at last managed to get him down to half health now, only a few more weeks of trying, getting frustrated and leaving it for another time and I might, just might get him
  • jamesgiordaneb17_ESO
YES!!!!!! I have killed him, in the end it was just a case of severe DPS required with siphoning and lots of healing in between
  • jamesgiordaneb17_ESO
Hmm... so I got to VR1 with the NB after doing mannimarco but found that getting to molag bal was a tad annoying so started a DK... killed mannimarco first time... not sure if this is because of the pain I went through as a NB or because DK just makes it easier... being vamp on both definately helped thanks to sucking the unlife out of the addons he summons but I'm on the side that doing anything NB is designed to be harder that doing it DK

That particular fight is definitely soloable, I did it with my Templar using bow and a self heal first try at equal level. My setup at the time was medium armor stamina build for general combat and magicka reserved for healing.

You probably know this, but it never hurts to check: see if your gear is in working condition. Eat food that benefits your setup most. Interrupt and block. Use potions.

Mannimarco uses one damaging ability, that drain beam attack, which you should interrupt immediately (so bow comes in handy with the Poison Arrow morph). His little balls of magic don't hit that hard, I just powered through them. And as usual, his ads are more annoying and dangerous than he is.

That said, DK seems more suited for sustained fights than NB. Templar too, not sure about sorc, don't have one. So with NB it's all about burning them down quickly before they kill you... thus soloing boss fights can get annoying.

I just have serious problems with this tread. Either this is not the quest I remember or you are describing some problems I cannot identify. You mean the main quest where you normally go with around 20 or 21? Where you free Sai Sahan out of his prison?
Mannimarco will spawn 2 or 3 rounds of 4 skeletons, 2 fighters 2 mages?
I did this with my templar last night on level 21 or 22, needed 3 attempts due to my own stupidity, destro staff and 1 healing skill. I am using a lot the throwback from the weapon line as it serves vs. all mobs without cc immunity.
Let Lyris take care of the fighters, concentrate on the mages first. With my NB I did this in 2 or 3 attempts too (took that long to figure out the mechanics).
Take your time after the skeleton waves end to fully restore be4 attacking Mannimarco. I dont remeber him being that hard. Was harder with the skeleton waves due to stamina/magick management.

Seems I just learned, that there is a Mannimarco fight later in the game - so please forget my comment.

If you're dual wield and got good stamina; keep out of his inner AoE circle when he does that attack, kill adds when they come, and do DPS with the Blood Craze attack (morph of Twin Slashes which in addition to do damage and bleed also lets you recover health, so basically when you stab him to death you heal yourself up to be ready for adds).

I play a bow NB with siphoning line. I have yet ran into any issues with killing bosses. Currently vr2 so it is not the nightbalde.

    Just saying

I'm a 'classic' DW/Bow NB and frankly went to 46 before I came back to beat this guy:

The key here is timing, survivability, and DPS.

    1) Health Pots - have 20. Seriously. You're going to want do this a few times.
    2) Spell resist is key - spells are this guy's trick so resist them as much as possible.
    3) Stay on him like white on rice; he teleports so stay on him until the other portal opens and then back-walk the edge of the circle and kill the mobs until you're back to Mannamarco again. Turn back to him, rinse, repeat, chase.

Oddly enough, after I had killed him I was faced with a giant mob of 20+ ghosts that swarmed me. After the rez, I was able to get the Amulet and go onwards.

There's no shame in backing of of a fight since, IMO, many of the ESO bosses are OP for their level and classic NBs seem to be at some weird bell curve disadvantage both very early and at late game.

I just finished the Mannimarco quest(higher level quest). My guy is a nord, dragonkinight standard which I used right in the beginning to him hard. I followed him whenever he moved, all focus on damaging him. I had great armor protection, so I used magic potions to keep all my weapon damage available. Killed him on the first attempt with only going to the magic potions once. Used alot of the dragon standard fire damage on him during the fight.

    For the Level 40 quest

    1. This strongly seems to favour classes with a self heal. I got by almost entirely on the Entropy mage's guild skill, but obviously if you've got more options in the bag, even better.

    2. In melee, his autoattacks are feeble and can't overcome my health regen/H.o.T. tick from Entropy. His ranged autoshots may be more damaging.

    3. Mannimarco has a lot of health so the fight will last a long time. However, given 2) above, this is irrelevant. You are in no rush to burn him down, if anything you can use this time between add waves to recover health, magicka and stamina. Therefore, there is no need to waste anything other than autoattack on him.

    4. You will see him start to cast every so often, which is simple to interrupt in melee. I believe this is his health drain skill - white lines going from you to him. You don't want him healing up and you don't want to be drained yourself - so bash him.

    5. Every so often, concentric red circles will appear on the floor at your feet. After a second or two he'll lob a crystal shard in there for a BOOM and splash damage. It hurts quite a lot if you're still inside the inner circle, the outer circle is hard to avoid but the damage is hardly anything. Don't make the same mistake as me and walk backwards with the sprint button held down, you cannot move quickly backwards whether you are pressing sprint or not. Go forwards , it should be easy to avoid, and don't worry about this putting him behind you, the guy can't melee to save his life.

    6. Three times in the fight, he will float up in the air with his arms outstretched and summon adds. I'd been told that the adds are the most dangerous component of the fight, so I purchased the Fighter's guild skill Silver Bolts, and morphed that to an AoE. These ghosts have low health and are undead so take massive damage from Silver Bolts, so I think I took them out before they hit me. If you're already a class with good range dps of course, this is not something you need to worry about. I cannot verify if these ghosts hit hard or not because I don't think any got to me. However, I did take more damage at this point of the fight than any other because while I was dealing with the ghosts, Mannimarco was able to get some range and start his health drain going. As soon as the ghost are down, run up to him, right click/left click bash in the face, cut it out sunshine.

    7. Every so often he teleports, the white trails giving you a clue as to where he's going to rematerialize. Take this as a sign that he really does NOT want to be in melee, and that he's afraid of you. Close him down as fast as you can so he can't summon up any of that health drain nonsense or start using his marginally less feeble ranged autoattack.

For me, it was a fight like any other.. but I had bow..

Funnel Health to keep HoT on me
Evil Hunter for bonus damage to adds (2-3 bombards into adds usually procs it AT LEAST once, plus brutal stamina regen from killing blows to undead/daedra)
Shadowy Disguise to dodge his occasional nuke (block is enough for his light attacks)
Siphoning Strikes to keep up stamina and magicka
    Soul ulti when up

    dead
