Warden Class Refresh: More Beasts, More Ice, More Identity
Suggestions for the ESO Development Team
First of all, I would like to thank the ESO development team for the work being done on the Warden class refresh. After watching the videos showcasing some of the upcoming changes, I was genuinely excited to see the direction being taken with the class.
I particularly love the effort being made to refresh the Warden’s abilities and strengthen its visual identity. The Warden has always had a unique connection to nature, animals and frost, and I believe there is an opportunity to take that fantasy even further.
With that in mind, I would like to suggest a few additional ideas that could complement the changes already being introduced.
Rather than replacing the current abilities, many of these ideas could potentially be implemented through morphs, skill styles or alternative visual effects, giving players more freedom to personalize how their Warden looks and feels.

🐺 EXPANDING THE WARDEN’S ANIMAL COMPANIONS
One of the things I would love to see in the Warden refresh is a greater variety of animals.
The Warden’s animal abilities are one of the class’s defining characteristics, so expanding the available creatures could make the class feel even more like a true master of nature.
Some possible additions could include:
* White wolves
* Black wolves
* Siberian lions
* Siberian tigers
* Gryphons
* Eagles
* Ravens/crows
* Large bats
These could be introduced as alternative appearances through morphs or skill styles, allowing players to choose the creatures that best fit their particular Warden fantasy.
This would also give players significantly more visual customization without necessarily changing the underlying combat mechanics of the abilities.

🦅 SUGGESTIONS FOR EXISTING WARDEN ABILITIES
Feral Guardian
The Feral Guardian is one of the most iconic Warden abilities, and I think it could become even more exciting by allowing players to choose different animal companions.
Possible alternatives:
* White Wolf
* Black Wolf
* Siberian Lion
* Siberian Tiger
Different animal styles could allow players to create very different Warden identities while preserving the same underlying ability.
Dive
For Dive, I would love to see more aerial creatures become available.
Possible alternatives:
* Gryphon
* Eagle
* Large Bat
* Dragon
A gryphon or eagle-themed Dive, for example, would fit beautifully with the Warden’s nature-based aesthetic while giving the ability a completely different visual personality.
Scorch
Scorch could also benefit from alternative animal appearances.
Possible options:
* White Wolf
* Black Wolf
* Siberian Lion
* Siberian Tiger
Swarm
The Swarm ability seems particularly well suited to different creature variations.
Instead of being limited to one type of swarm, players could potentially choose between:
* Bat Swarm
* Crow/Raven Swarm
* Insect Swarm
This would make the ability feel much more customizable while reinforcing the Warden’s connection to the natural world.
Betty Netch
Betty Netch is another ability where alternative creature styles could be extremely interesting.
Possible alternatives could include:
* Gryphon
* Eagle
* Large Bat
* Dragon
Even if some of these creatures would require significant visual adaptation, having them available as alternative skill styles would provide an exciting way for players to personalize their Wardens.

❄️ EXPANDING THE WARDEN’S ICE IDENTITY
I would also love to see the Warden’s Ice abilities receive more attention.
The Warden is not only a beastmaster—it is also ESO’s class most strongly associated with frost and ice magic. I think there is room to make that side of the class feel even more powerful and distinctive.
Here are a few possible concepts.
Icy Piercing Javelin
A powerful ranged ability where the Warden forms a spear of ice and throws it directly at an enemy.
The visual could be something along the lines of a large, dense ice spear being created in the Warden’s hand before being launched at the target.
This could provide the Warden with another visually distinctive Ice-based attack while reinforcing the class’s frost identity.
Icy Shield
The Warden creates a powerful shield surrounded by swirling icy winds.
When the shield is struck, it could react by forming and launching several sharp ice shards or spears toward the attacking enemy.
The idea would be to make the shield feel more active and aggressive rather than simply functioning as a defensive visual effect.
Sub-Zero Destruction
A powerful frost ability that projects an intense ray or beam of concentrated ice toward an enemy.
The attack could deal damage over time while progressively freezing the target.
At the culmination of the effect, the enemy could become temporarily encased or petrified in ice.
This could provide a spectacular “ultimate frost” visual while giving the Warden another ability that feels uniquely connected to its Ice Mage identity.
⸻
🪽 FALCON’S SWIFTNESS — MORE WING OPTIONS
Finally, I think Falcon’s Swiftness presents an amazing opportunity for additional visual customization.
Instead of having only one wing appearance, players could potentially choose different types of wings through skill styles.
For example:
* Dove/angel wings
* Icy wings
* Flame wings
* Dragon wings
* Bat wings
This could be one of the most visually exciting customization opportunities available to the Warden.
Imagine a frost-themed Warden flying with enormous crystalline ice wings, while another player chooses dragon wings or dark bat wings.
The underlying ability would remain unchanged, but the visual customization would allow players to create a much stronger personal identity for their character.

🌲 THE GOAL: MORE WARDEN IDENTITY
Ultimately, I believe these suggestions could help push the Warden even further toward what makes the class unique:
Nature. Beasts. Ice. Freedom.
The Warden already has an incredible foundation. The class refresh is a fantastic opportunity to expand that identity rather than simply adjusting numbers or changing individual abilities.
Giving players more animal companions, alternative creature appearances, additional Ice-themed abilities and customizable visual styles could make the Warden feel considerably more alive and personalized.
Most importantly, many of these ideas could potentially be implemented as skill styles or visual alternatives, meaning players who prefer the existing appearances could continue using them, while players who want more variety would have additional choices.
I hope the development team will consider some of these ideas as the Warden refresh continues to evolve.
Thank you for continuing to invest time and effort into the Warden. I am genuinely excited to see where you take the class next.
