Maintenance for the week of September 7:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – September 7

I know 5,000 is small compared to many others, but how many hours have you logged and why? :)

First off I really cannot quantify or begin to guess how many hours I have poured into ESO as a whole, like I have spent an ungodly amount of hours OUTSIDE the game on tons of things like forums, spreadsheets, data collection and parsing, player Q/A, content creation, consuming ESO players content, helping people in discord etc.

And then in game, I have done so many things over my 5,000 or so hours that do not meet up with many "standard goals". But that's one of the best parts about ESO, it has SO MANY different ways you can play and enjoy it... Making none of the options, the "wrong" way to play if you are having fun.

So whether you are in 1 day, or in 50,000 hours. I wanted to have a discussion about those ways in which you spend that time. And especially the ones in the 10's of thousands, to see what fun opportunities someone else might not be aware of and missing out on.
I would say the majority of my time online these days goes into helping random players, my guildies, managing guild duties, making gold/economy play, playing with my mom, completing current time gated events, or building a new home.

Other things get sprinkled in all the time, but those are the most consistent things I can say occur frequently.

There is always something which feels like it "needs doing." It doesn't actually need doing most of the time, but it feels that way. Yesterday, for example, one character knocked out the Wing of the Gryphon because it had been waiting for a very long time, another tried (and partially succeeded) in reducing the number of unscried antiquities in the journal, another did a quick round of Freerunner boards and called it a day, ... and not one of those things actually needed to be done right then. The Wing of the Gryphon wasn't necessary because another character had unlocked those script drops (no one is missing any scripts anyway), the antiquities had months left to run on their timers, the Freerunner missions aren't time-limited and there is nothing in the rewards that anyone needed (kind of like the Wing of the Gryphon)... so nothing practically accomplished other than being able to mentally scratch stuff off the to-do list. Still, there was that small sense of accomplishment that the to-do list was at least a little bit shorter than it was the day before.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

i havent gone through all of my toons and done a /played to actually count the time, but i last i checked my main is at around 330ish days of logged in time

makes sense since he is my oldest character and the one i do all of the story and quest/exploration content on

other characters range from a few weeks to few months of logged in time
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the home tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, aetherial well, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Last time I added everything up and did the math, it was Nov 2020 - 9000 hours. I'd guess about twice that now.

After 4000 hours in Oblivion, my elf 'outgrew' it. Same after 4000 hours in Skyrim. So she learned time travel and moved to ESO. The mass and scale helps ensure that she's never felt like she's outgrowing it so she makes her home there - for now.

My main character is reaching 997 days logged in and probably all my logged in hours is around 1219 days across all characters i have. This is of course even more if you consider the test server play time and of course game does not count the hours i spend on various communities on Discord servers and such.

Why i did this? Why i continued to play this game? There is many reasons to tell, but i can say i am glad i did play.

Ok so on my main account I just checked the four characters I play most.....

My original main and now my crafter and house decorator
My two go to character's for gameplay such as WB's, Dungeons etc and
    My PVP lady

Obviously my original main has the most hours due to many nights of happy decorating(currently at 653 days/15,672hrs)
The two I play for content(377days/9048hrs)
My PVP Lady, not used much these days(231days/5,054hrs)

I'm not even going to look at the other two accounts but each of those has a main character and then just a load of daily crafters.

I started playing in Beta, I've only ever taken short breaks and even then likely logged in every day.

I'm disabled and have other health issues, ESO has frequently been a lifeline to maintain some level of interaction with the world and the many friends I've made over the years! <3
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Hard to say for certain how many hours, but playing since launch on PC. Also spent a good deal of time playing on console when it launched a year later.

Would be easier if the ESO launcher kept track like Steam does. There's also no way to go back and add up all the time spent playing on the PTS, since that's wiped each time there's a new patch or character copy. Then there's time played on both NA and EU servers.

Once upon a time, there was an add-on the would aggregate the time played from across all my PC characters. It stopped working years ago. Never looked for a replacement.

That said, one character alone has over 15,000 hours of play time on PC/NA.

Agree with @MidnightDuel - Base game should have a /played command that gives total time played IN HOURS for that character. There should also be a /playedserver that gives total server time played for all characters IN HOURS.

    About 11k hours here.

Why? because the game was fun.

Theses days I log on not that often. Seasons are not fun to me, there is no more reward to fight for.

I was in closed beta, which doesn't count, but since early access, March 31, 2014, I have logged between 14.5 and 15k hours. (Maybe more. Haven't checked in a while). Have only taken time off for hospital, work and health, but it's not much in the grand scheme of things.. Lmao! I do it because I love The Elder Scrolls. Started with TES 3 in 2003, played most of all the games and LOVE the lore. I even have my Lore Master Certificate from Imperial Knowledge, (YT creator). I'll admit I have had my Love/Hate relationship with ZoS, (looking at you AwA!!), but still love and support ESO. Subbed every month since launch.
Am still very concerned and very sad at the loss of so many at ZoS. Some I have run dungeons and stuff with early on. Best wishes to all effected. But look forward to another 10, 20 or more years of the best MMORPG out there!
That's my 2 Drakes. 1,000 Huzzahs to the devs and team, who give us this beautiful part of our life!

There is an add-on called Played All, which will give total hours of all toons or just certain ones. It's what I use. It does total in "Days Played" so a little math is needed. Lol..

14594 hours, on PCNA (or 86 weeks 6 days 2 hours 18 minutes 46 seconds, or so the addon tells me).

My time played on EU is negligible.

I appreciate the addon sugggestions. Looked at Played All but could only find it on ESOUI - not via Minion. Found HowLong via Minion however; looked into it, installed it, logged in once on all characters and it works great! Current total played is 15,800 hours.

    40,795 hours total on PC/NA

Enlightening, to say the least.Perhaps I was better off not knowing. ;)

I have roughly 10,000 hours on PS4 and 8,000 on PS5. Total is about 18,100 hours total.

I used to play for many hours each day, but the slowing down of new content has led me to fill some of those hours with other games

I have no idea how many hours I've logged between all my toons, and I'm not sure I want to know. Suffice to say I was a beta tester, and I'm still here, albeit having taken a few breaks on the way and I may be about to take another.

The ONLY reason I am still here after all this time--and in fact, probably the only reason the majority of players are still here--is because I love the intangible factors of ESO. The game world, the races, the story, the characters. Just as Star Trek Online (STO) is sustained by the Star Trek franchise, the strength of the Elder Scrolls world is what sustains ESO. If ESO was newly released today in its present state of what passes for development, it would get review bombed on Steam and shut down within a month. But we are here for our characters and their stories, so we put up with the clunky combat, predatory financial model, and the whole et al of other problems for their sake, until we simply can't anymore.

between 27k and 30k hours. the first 700 days was spent on xbox between 2016 and 2020. The rest on pc since. Tbh ive put a few thousand hours into a lot of mmos that also have pvp, and there is just nothing like eso. Not the combat, and certainly not the pvp. Not even gw2, although similar.

Ive just played less over the last few years because of constant disagreements with how zos handles things. Nothing exciting, bad combat changes, subclassing, constant unfixable cyrodiil issues. They certainly have gotten much better this last year, but so much damage was done. Regardless, i still play and am always hopeful they can make eso great and pull in a bunch of players. Time will tell.
