Where are you farming Decorative Wax at?

Greetings, all Housing enjoyers and sellers!

Currently, on PC NA server, the price of Decorative Wax has been rising at an unprecedented rate, and it seems to me that it’s appearing in guild traders a little less frequently than before.

Where do you usually go to get it efficiently? I usually farm it from Broken Light Temple, but it runs out right away when I craft furniture.

Mine drops from container farming and bugs. Find Beetles and Mudcrabs.

That little segregated Argonian area in Ebonheart is probably one of the best places to farm Mudcrabs.

The public dungeon in Alik'r is also a good place to farm beetles.

You can also try areas with a lot of lootable barrels, like the area right by the ladder in the Vile Manse or the entry area to Sanguine's Demesne. Barrels are where I seem to get the most.

I find them in barrel and crates. But very rarely in anything else. Thieving drops them fairly often.

I farm my decorative wax from various guild traders.

Containers, urns, insects and mudcrabs. If I'm farming for plans, I'll make sure to pick up the waxes from the containers. If I'm in Craglorn, the wasps/scorpions frequently drop waxes, ditto with mudcrabs and thunderbugs/hoarvors in other zones.

I found that the drop rates from bugs were quite similar to those from urns, which means that having lots of urns in one spot might be more efficient farming. I like Necrom for urns, but unlike Broken Light, the urns there are owned.

Fetcherflies in Vavardenfell are a good source of Decorative Wax, just taking them as I go in and out of Vivec City for writs, bank, battleground etc., I get several every day.

Thank you all for your answers! I usually farm the wax (+furnishing plans) from urns at Broken Light Temple but I’ve started to wonder if that’s actually the most efficient way.
I also don’t understand why the price has gone up on NA so much, since the price on EU server hasn’t changed much.

Until recently, the prices were about the same. 350-500 around? Could it be that prices went up because there was a surge in demand for new furnishings to create?

As far as looting urns, Dwarven delves and public dungeons usually contain a lot of urns. Old Orsinium (which Isn't a Dwarven ruin AFAIK) is loaded with urns and other containers, and besides dropping the usual loot there's a chance to get motif pages for the Ancient Orc style from them. A lot of players seem to focus on killing the bosses for those, and pretty much ignore the urns and other containers, but you can definitely get motif pages, recipes, furnishing pkans, and other nice loot from them.

I now understand why Ancestral Orc motifs are relatively affordable.

In a way, that's true for most public dungeons - they all have a ton of containers that most players rush past. It's why I like to do those solo: I can take my time and stock up on all kinds of goodies for crafting, trade, or sale. The big difference as you mention is really which motif styles are in the loot pool for the containers.
