Instead of gold as the reward for excess tome points it would be great if we could choose the currency we receive. I've already received all of the Tome rewards (ignoring the potions I don't want). I have plenty of gold. What I don't have is an abundance of the other currencies that the game uses. If I could choose archival fortunes or tel-var I'd have a real incentive to keep at the weekly Tomes.

If they want a points sink, they can add some cool stuff that costs more, or allow players to unlock a second set of bonus pages.
I honestly love that it has a hard finish with just gold for over achievers.
I've said before, this game was at its lowest for me when I returned from a break into a event with event tickets, a golden pursuit for the event, then heroes return, which at the time came with two pursuit checklists, with endeavours on top. I felt like I'd logged into "Checklist Simulator: The movie, the book, the video game tie in". I lasted a couple of days before logging out and not returning for another year.
I understand the desire for endless pages, I get that some folk always want something to grind for, but I can not stress how much I like that these things have hard ends, not endless grinds.
I'm certain I'm not the only one that feels this way.
Or am I?

You could just choose not to grind for it? I wouldn't be grinding it either, but the challenges complete passively anyway and it would be nice to get something I care about from it.

I don’t min max these things, I take a quick look at the challenges, weed out the ones I am definitely not going to do with rerolls until I see something I might do or was planning on doing anyway, and then just play the game. There are ones that never get done but I always have enough tome points to buy everything whether I want it or not.
I have to admit though, that today I was wishing I could just opt out of the whole tome thing completely. I had the “Kill X Dangerous Foes” and every time I was in a group that took a keep in Cyrodiil today, I had the words come up saying I had to claim the points and wouldn’t go away until I stopped what I was doing and played the UI minigame there. This is so intrusive. I do crafting surveys and the same thing happens. Why can’t I just play the game and not be constantly notified of these tome points?

I don't know what your stance on addons is but I use this one:

To get rid of that... irk. (thanks Code)
Not saying that ZOS should not do anything about it in the vanilla UI, just that if you are not opposed to using addons this one will alleviate that irritation until they do.
I checked and the addon seems to be available on consoles:
