How strong was DK before Class rework?

Rather than allowing the chaos in PvP to continue whilst the class rework takes over two years, wouldn’t it be better for the DK to revert to its previous state?

I haven’t been playing the game for very long, but I don’t think the DK before the rework was any weaker than the currently underperforming classes—NB, Plar, Nec and Arc.

I think this might be a way to stabilize class balancing quickly.

I would recommend rolling out the update for all classes simultaneously after the all classes reworks are fully complete.

I believe that the balance up to that time can be maintained through fine-tuning of the pure Class mastery.

Before the rework DKs were in a pretty good spot I´d say, very balanced. They had similar tools for damage although less output in general but very good damage spikes to go offensive. The main difference, which made them very well balanced compared to now is that they didn´t have literal infinite sustain. You had to play well and consider when to block. You had to alternate pots and ultimate to stay on top of your resources. With the rework they got more damage on everything and infinite sustain. Ah, and also an incredibly stacked skill for speed and snare removal, which was a pretty weak skill before the rework.
And they will not revert the rework, don´t think that´s even a consideration.

In U45 it was very strong and decent. Good duelist and good for group play. Just didn't have burst damage or range.

Pure dk in subclass era was in a better spot than the other pure classes but that didn’t mean it was actually good. You could be tanky and steal kills, that was about it. Is why I subclassed for aedric spear and animal companion and went wretched vitality with mech acuity, and it was drastically better

That’s why we can’t revert dk to before. You wanna revert dk, revert subclassing first. Gutted and gone.

I was Happy(ish) with my DK, it was a healer & a Tank, did both well - at the same time quite often. But i Never really used it as a DPS , and overall for my play style, the Templar was far better.

After the Update, Yes its more survivable, does a shed load more damage, but compared to the old DK you have to work a lot harder to use it as a healer in dungeons etc

Since I do not PVP, it took a bit of getting used to a 10 year + play style change. But I am still very happy with it. I like it, but still head towards the Templar for the Tank+Heal role.

I did not have any real issues on DK and failed to see why it was reworked first over:

    0. Necromancer when a "fix" essentially nerfed them hard, corpse mechanic needed adjusting years ago
    1. NB which has been complained about for ages in PvP and PvE for different reasons
    2. Arcanist which was complained about, esp. being too "beam-focused"

It made no sense, but what also made no sense were some of the changes that were a nerf in PvE and just overbuffed DK in PvP. I still fail to understand the reasoning behind a lot of the changes. But hey, they know best...
