Like others have said, you needn't worry about gaining too much too fast. You want to get to 160cp comfortably fast so you can start making actual builds. After that you want to fill your constellation perks for passives and the most used actives. Then it doesn't really matter power wise. It only brings QOL if you can have most of the slottables your char would use, unlocked, so you can change them on the fly without using gold.

Don't worry it can take a while to reach 3600cp: Reaching the maximum cap requires approximately 2.2 billion experience points (specifically around 2.206.446.183 XP)

Total EXP needed to reach 600 Champion Points is 61.507.666
Total EXP needed to reach 1200 Champion Points is 206.420.816
Total EXP needed to reach 1800 Champion Points is 434.389.074
Total EXP needed to reach 2400 Champion Points is 900.924.274
Total EXP needed to reach 3600 Champion Points is 2.206.446.183

Note: CP soft cap at 1800. That means, before 1800 Points you will earn CP faster than after 1800 points. Therefore you will see a jump in EXP needed at 1800 CP.

You really need to hit CP160 before you invest in any gear so that you can do harder content.

But you won't hit 3600 any time soon. Let me put it this way, I've been playing since 2018, I have an ungodly amount of hours put into this game, and I only just recently hit 2850. (There was also a shift in how CP was handled back then) If you just play normally and do what you enjoy without excessive grinding, you aren't going to hit cap that fast.

And even if you do grind some in order to hit a decent CP level where you have the perks you really want/need to do harder content, it's not going to effect your feeling of progression later. I did a lot of heavy grinding early on in order to reach a point where I was comfortable with the amount of CP I had/could get the perks I really needed. Believe me, that honeymoon stage where you think you want to progress slowly will wear out eventually, and you'll eventually get tired of not having the perks that make the game fun/allow you to do higher tier content.

But once you hit 1,800, LVL gains will slow down significantly.

Levels aren't the only way to feel like you're progressing either. We also have a few other leveling systems, such as the PVP alliance war ranks, and now the PVP veterancy system. And plenty of achievements to pursue.

Eventually you'll end up ignoring that leveling bar entirely in favor of other things the game has to offer, honestly. I'd say most of us barely look at it after a certain point.

Although personally, I wouldn't mind if they raised the cosmetic level cap to go beyond 3600, without awarding CP. Just for the simple satisfaction of gaining exp and "Making the big number get bigger", lol.

You probably won't hit 3600 unless you sell experience runs, and if you do hit it, it would be a much better solution to individually work past letting a number hamper your enjoyment of the game than to have enlightenment turned off.

Yeah so for this I did do a google search lol. Apparently what this means is that I earn 4x more champion point experience. Which is really dumb because Champion Points have a cap and I don't want to hit it super fast or something.

Don't worry about hitting the cap 'super fast' or even any time soon.

I've been playing daily for about 10 years (with two very short breaks for some health issues) and I'm just topping 2800 CP, last time I looked.

    At my age (68), I expect I'll die before I hit 3600.

The cap is 3600. I've been playing every day for 12 years and still only 3008cp. You're not hitting max cp in a year 😂

You only get a small amount of enlightenment per day, it is not for the entire time you are playing.

I do writs on 9 characters and 3 master writs on my main character and it’s gone. Then I go do other stuff.

Enlightenment is not going to get you too far. It'll help you to reach the "minimum" where you can start building something more permanent. Ie, CP160 which is the gear cap. But it'll have diminishing returns the higher your CP is.

For CP3600 you need to gain 2.2 Billion XP.

In comparison, for CP160 (gear level cap) you'll need 8,024,157 XP.
About CP1300 and you'll have comfortably enough CP for a full build. This requires 238,647,810 XP.

Half-way to CP3600 is not CP1800 if you count XP. The XP needed for the next CP grows each time you earn CP. In the beginning you'll earn CPs really fast, but it slows down dramatically.

XP-wise, the half way is 1,103,223,092. This corresponds to CP2620, which is the "real" half-way. I have been playing this game pretty much daily for the past 5 years and I am about CP2500.

To be fair the content has dropped off the last few years so I've been playing less plus it doesn't factor the CP from my other 3 accounts 😆

Like listen lol, I'm already CP 100 (just hit 100 yesterday) and I've done hardly anything on that character. Like some daily crafting writs for 2 or 3 months, and questing every now and then. And I'm ALREADY at level 100? Technically 150 if you count the base game levels.

And the cap is only what, like, what was it, 3000? It's only going to take a year for me to get to the max at this rate.

And then after that all the "feeling" of progression on my account will be over, or a significant part of it.

There will be a time not long from now, if you're still playing ESO, when you realize how naive this thinking is. You should put some more time in game before coming on the forums and asking for so many fundamental changes to the game you just started playing recently.

Ironically, once you hit CP3600 the Enlightenment XP buff is permant because the XP you earn are not consumed into champion points.

I have 23k hours in the game and only CP 2800. I promise you wont hit 3600 in several years. Been playing 10. You have to grind HARD to get to 3600. It levels you fast early on, but at my level, you need over a million experience to get to the next CP roughly, and enlightenment only covers a few hundred thousand.

Yeah, absolutely no threat of leveling too quick.
If you start becoming a sweatlord, you will start to get annoyed how slow you level, you might end up in Blackrose prison round 2 farm like most of us have to get an extra 1000 for trials or what not.

My friend had to do Blackrose for a month straight to get from 3000 to 3600 and now I am pretty sure they want to spend time in a mental asylum XD

There are XP scrolls for that, and they're pretty plentiful. I'd prefer if fast levelling was optional instead of standard.

I'd prefer if there weren't so many CP in the first place. I only apply my points when I get about 5 to 10 in each tree because none of them even matter now. I only apply them at all to stop seeing that I have some to place.

Why? After 1500-1600 (and for some builds like healer even 1300-1400) is enough to unlock every single worthwhile slottable you will use or that will benefit you really apart from misc green passives which are not buffing you really like a chance to get 2 furniture plans instead of 1 or fishing faster passive.

Only thing that cp after that gives ya is ability to not to have to spend 3k gold for changes mid trial/dungeon/pvp zones.
