Infinite Archive dragon Laatvulon

Today we wiped 4 times at this particular boss (which ended our run) and there're a lot of issues with it:

- when it lifts off for flight phase you receive random damage out of nowhere
- there are no telegraphs for the outer ring (true for all dragons)
- you receive damage from the outer ring even if you're in the middle of the arena
- there's no telegraph for the dragon breath during flight phase (true for all dragons)

This battle is pure luck to survive, please have a look at it. Thanks.

Yeah, the damage range for this is very off. The damage circle is ridiculous. I'm standing and I still get hit with the stupid outer ring damage.

You have to keep an eye on him in the sky at all times to see what direction he's coming from and dodge out of is path. Which is fine, right? I mean, It's not like you're fighting a bunch of adds and avoiding ground AoE at that moment.

I don't know about Laatvulon, but I think Yolnahkriin, at least, has the same flight path every time. But you definitely need to watch them the entire time, which is hard with the adds spawning.
If I'm running with a companion, I always switch to a distance DPS or a healer companion for dragon fights. There's a slightly lower chance they'll not run into the center AoE and die instantly.

The dragons still routinely wipe out my low-CP accounts. I agree, they, along with a few others (Thorn and Belain, The Warrior, Yandir, Baron Zaudrus, who ignores all companion taunts) are way over-tuned, especially on low arcs. Getting one of them means an end to low CP account runs, 95% of the time.

Agreed. The long range of damage of the outer ring turns fighting this certain dragon into a lottery, this is not just right. :(

I'm surprised this has not been adjusted yet. We were in a duo run arc 12 today, with no boss or marauder really doing all that much damage to us. Got to this fight in arc 12 with 4 threads and lost every thread to it even after making out builds significantly more sturdy after the first death. This boss is WAY overtuned compared to everything else in IA. The largest factor by far in getting beyond arc 12-15ish is if THIS boss spawns. If it does, youre done no matter what. ZOS please adjust it. Sure people here are mentioning to watch the flight path. You take loads of aoe dmg even when NOT in the flight path at all.

It seems like the issue is persistent high aoe dmg taken no matter what, you seem to take as much if not close to as much damage as if you are standing in the outer circle even when not standing in it. The damage he does when taking flight also must not be able to be reduced with major/minor cowardice and weakening because that damage seems way higher than anything else he does.

Same mechanics as they are in the Elsweyr areas, ice dragon has that aoe of damage around the outside, lift off damage if your to close, breath blast and the one I cannot stand is the lingering one on your soul. From the way I take it, ESO/ZOS has gave this particular dragon all the effects of the Elsweyr dragons.

It’s fine for all the effects to be present but it’s WAY over tuned. Progressing deep into IA shouldn’t be RNG of bosses. I mean to a degree sure some are harder than others but this one is a gate you can’t get through. It’s is like… what 10x+ harder than anything else we run into once you get to arc 10 or so. At 12 it’s near impossible but we did almost get it. 15+ I’m sure it is pretty much impossible. Part of the reason is probably that you can’t keep the dragon debuffed while it’s in the air. Most players keep major and minor cowardice and weakening on IA bosses when going far. When it’s in the air you can’t. But that alone I don’t think accounts for everything.

This boss just needs a balance pass with its damage probably halved.
