Add More Currencies in game...

Hi,
Great news, everyone, ESO is finally addressing its biggest problem: the tragic shortage of currencies.

Seems like the new Solo Dungeons are going to introduce a new type of currency? One more!
And honestly, I completely understand it. We clearly have far too few different currencies in the game already. Only 16 different currencies in a game the size and age of ESO? That’s practically unacceptable. Truly unacceptable!! We obviously need more then;
  • Alliance Points PvP - Battlegrounds, Alliance War activities and PvP quests.
  • Archival Fortunes - Muniment Chests, Marauders and certain Infinite Archive quests.
  • Caches of Tome Points you receive 1 Cache per month of ESO Plus; each contains 2,000 Tome Points.
  • Crowns - Purchased with real money / received through ESO Plus. Used in the Crown Store.
  • Crown Gems - duplicate collectibles can become Gems, and eligible unwanted Crown Crate items can be extracted into Gems.
  • Gold - quests, selling items, loot, trading with players, daily activities, etc.
  • Imperial Fragments - earned from activities/enemies there. They replaced Imperial Keys and Key Fragments.
  • Outfit Change Tokens - used to change your Outfit.
  • Premium Tome Tokens - 1 token per month. 12 tokens unlock a Premium + Bonuses Tamriel Tome.
  • Seals - earned through the current Tome system and used for Crown Crate items.
  • Tel Var Stones - monsters, enemy players and chests. Can be lost when killed in Imperial City.
  • Tome Points - earned by completing Tome Challenges / seasonal progression.
  • Trade Bars - Tamriel Tomes + Events/Vengeance Campaigns.
  • Transmute Crystals - commonly from daily dungeon quests, Undaunted Pledges, Arenas and reward containers/geodes.
  • Undaunted Keys - earned by completing the daily Undaunted dungeon pledges; spent at the three Undaunted pledge masters.
  • Writ Vouchers - complete Master Writs from crafting and receive Vouchers, which can be spent at Rolis Hlaalu.
  • Rumors - ?!?!

So let’s help ZoS out a little. Why stop at 16 when we could have 20? 30? 50? Maybe one currency for every piece of content in the game. Why have one universal currency when we can have a completely different one for every dungeon, trial, zone, event, activity, NPC and probably every individual quest giver?
Think about the possibilities.
A currency that you can only earn from killing a specific boss on Tuesdays during a full moon. Another one that drops exclusively from the final chest of a dungeon, but only if you have exactly 17 inventory slots available. And, of course, a currency that is completely useless until the next major update, when suddenly it becomes essential.
The possibilities are endless.
So, let’s give Zenimax some ideas. If it were up to you, what new currency would you add to ESO? How would you earn it, what would you use it for, and, most importantly, what completely unnecessary new currency would it replace?
Because clearly, 16 currencies just aren't enough.

BTW, if you get bored reading all this, believe me, it's not my fault at all.

Player note: Seems like the ESO Team are giving up on the 400K DPS requirement for endgame content just to skip mechanics, and replacing it with currency management instead?
Because, let’s be serious. At this rate, managing all these currencies might actually become more engaging than weaving. Now that would be a real endgame.

    COMPLETELY AGREE!!!

We need to top destiny 2 - which had about 30 currencies at its prime.

I think we need one curriency for each zone.

A currency you gain one unit of whenever you have gained at least one of each of the others. You can spend it on unlocking new achievements. Once you unlock the achievements, you gain access to a merchant who will let you spend the currency on access to otherwise inaccessible achievements.

As any new currency is added to the game, previous progress is reverted.

    Hmm..

Shrine Tokens? Travel in the wild to a known shrine now costs Shrine Tokens instead of gold (because why use gold when you can have another currency dedicated to just this task?).

For every KM travelled on foot/mount in-game, receive 1 Shrine Token. With enough you can afford a free transport to the Shrine of your choice, or save up even more for mount upgrades to make mounted travel faster, with all the associated achievements (longlegs, longstrider, the long walk, riding simulator...)

    Sounds sensible to me.. :D

    You know what is weird?
Among all these only gold has almost no inherit value.
We use it to trade between each other but other than that can you tell me what is it good for in game?
Using wayshrines from far away and some furnishing merchants in overland but that's it really.
It truly feels like fake money at this point.

Khajiit wants various body part currencies, as part of a Bounty Hunter system. Get missions to collect some number of mob or npc body parts ( ears, teeth, fingers, toes, noses, eyeballs, the list goes on and on!).

Have certain body parts require more skill/luck to extract intact than others, so that, perhaps, it takes a certain number of fingers to equate to a tooth, a mouthful of teeth to equal one eyeball, that kind of thing.

If they were further subdivided by race/monster type, that'd be a gajillion delightful currencies to lug around!

    what about:

Queue Patience Tokens - earned by waiting in Group Finder for more than 30 minutes as a DD. Once you have 10 of them, you can trade them for a Group Finder Skip Token, which immediately removes you from the queue.

This is all so funny…and having so many currencies is so sad. I rolled my eyes when I read in the PTS notes that solo dungeons are going to have their own currency. 😒

I don't understand the point of all this. Is there some logic to why there needs to be all these tokens, currencies, etc? It simply doesn't make sense to me and why would someone make more complexity and state management in a game for this? I assume somewhere along the line it's expected pots of gold will be delivered for it but I can't imagine how.

ZOS could give you the accurate answer, but my personal (and admittedly not-in-the-loop) take is that different currencies are used to chase different rewards. Crowns, Seals, and Gems can be kind of lumped in together, but they're mostly FOMO cosmetic stuff. The others are stuff which is specific to certain in-game activities. There are occasional work-arounds like the Luxury Goods vendor and The Golden on weekends, but it's mostly "earn this currency if you want this kind of reward."

To the OP's question: Rumors generate no specific currency. There is a guaranteed drop of one of Phynaster's gems for the Prowler's Talisman and a few Nowhere Keys also drop, but it's otherwise generic stuff and achievement chasing. I'm not sure whether to call Nowhere Keys "currency" or "admission tickets," but "admission tickets" probably comes closer.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.
