The Cyrodiil Mystery!

I feel like they might be a little jaded from the lackluster response to Vengeance, and their approach to GH might basically be, "the sweatiest players are going to rule, and if you're not one of them, sucks to suck. Get good."

Casuals make up something like 75-80% of the player base in most live service games/MMOs.

There is a pretty obvious problem in GH right now. You have 3-4 groups, ranging from 2-12 players, that are basically near impossible to kill without 30-40 people, endless siege, negates, and 20+ minutes of fighting.

Then you have a couple players who almost never die and can nearly one-shot anyone who comes near them, so they'll take on 20+ people at once and delete almost everyone who tries to fight them (should one person be able to take on 20+ people and win.. if its a heavy fight yes.. but they cast one skill and people just fall over.. and I'm not talking about bombers that is different.. these are tanks that also have the oneshot bomb dps.. that isn't okay).

The general reaction in ZC when these people enter a keep is, "I'm logging for the night," or "There's no point taking that keep, they're here."

I'm completely fine with min-maxed builds, specialized groups, comms, etc. 12 coordinated players should absolutely be better than 12 randoms (I know you're reading this Zos and saying "so what is the problem then which one is it".. that ius your problem.. your this or that mindset).

But that doesn't automatically mean it's good for the game.

PvPers spend money too. A lot of it. If the average player feels like there's no point fighting because they're going to get steamrolled, eventually they just stop playing (raises hand x5).

I don't think the answer should be "go to Vengeance if you don't like it." There has to be a middle ground.

U51 seems like a good step, and I'm curious to see how it plays out, but there needs to be some kind of reasonable limit on DPS, shields, healing, or diminishing returns.

The top 1% should be able to dominate. Ball groups should be strong. But casuals and smaller organized groups should still be able to participate and have fun.

It doesn't have to be black and white. There is absolutely a middle ground where everyone can have a place.

I challenge some of the devs to log into each faction.. not just EP (where most of these problem groups are) and see first hand what the sentiment/player experience is during prime time.

Whilst I agree with most of what you say, I’ve reservations about this bit. I don’t think the 1% should ‘dominate’; do well yes, but not to the detriment of all others. And personally I’d stop ball groups as they are just ruin the game.

An organised group is not the same as a ‘ball group’. The ball groups we see at the moment only appear to delight in trolling other players & ruining the concept of a good battle.

I disagree. The top 1% who have spent years mastering the game should absolutely be rewarded for that. But again, this isn't a black and white issue, so don't take that statement completely literally. I can already hear the response: "Well, you just said the top 1% should dominate, so what's the problem?" Sigh... ZOS, I can practically hear you saying it already. 😂

There's a lot of gray area here, especially when it comes to deciding how much is too much.

I'd say 1-2 people being able to endlessly kill 20+ people attacking them at once is probably past that line. When an entire faction sees two people at a keep and decides to just leave, we're no longer talking about a reasonable skill gap.. that's a balance problem.

And I know people like to frame ball groups as just wanting to grief or troll. I'm sure some do, but generally ball groups want an outnumbered fight. Picking off 3-4 random people is by no means exciting, so naturally they're going to look for the biggest fight on the map. You're inconvinecne is a by product of them looking for a larger fight.

It's also not the ball group's fault that ZOS has allowed shields, Sorcs, barriers, and stacked healing to get to where they are. ZOS controls those numbers and how they interact with groups. If they refuse to balance PvE and PvP separately, that's on ZOS, not the players taking advantage of the systems.

You're never going to get rid of ball groups, and you shouldn't. You're not going to get rid of zergs either, nor should you. Zergs aren't the problem.

The problem is when 1-2 players become nearly impossible to kill while simultaneously being capable of one shotting player after player. That's the part that needs to be addressed.

(Yes I'm having a generalized conversation about two specific groups of people.. the 1-2 near unkillables and the 12 person near unkillable ball groups)

I did report a AD player who self ressed. A whole group of us DC all saw it. We thought maybe he got ressed by a nightblade, but it happened on more than one occasion for it not be a bug or a visual glitch.

Someone in the Vengeance NA chat, did point out that being in skeleton form seems to make you run faster. Not sure if it is intentional or a bug, that has just been discovered. Maybe ZOS will need to look into that one.

Soul Summons passive skill: "Allows you to revive once every 1 hour without spending a Soul Gem"

This lets you self rez in PVP once every hour.

if it does that's a bug. It's not intended to bypass 'pvp death' mechanics which force resurrection at a respawn point.

Yes it works if you die to fall/environmental damage or NPC.

No it does not work if you die to other players.
