When did you start getting into Housing?

Housing is like creating a map for your D&D campaign. The point for me is to create a roleplay setting.

I absolutely loathe gameplay added to housing. WoW did this with garrisons, and it was a huge flop.

Gameplay/combat buffs/etc in housing leads to less interactions between players. It leads to isolation in times when people are logging into an MMO to experience multiplayer combat.

BDO has combat buffs tied to housing. It's easily one of the most tedious hated things in the game. Players complain about the annoyance of having to make a pit stop before engaging in combat. Almost ready for that boss pull? Nope. Billy over there forgot his home buffs. Now everyone has to wait. I hope ESO never does BDO's mistakes.

Housing as a cosmetic-only option with minor things like crafting stations is perfection.
ESO's design for housing being cosmetic is perfection.

I know and I see your point because I played in Warlords of Draenor and garrisons were SO dumb. It doesn't have to be "real" buffs, or "real" usefulness.

An idea. Just make it so that my character CAN sleep in the bed so that when I log off in the evening, they get in bed, and when I log back on, they wake up. That'd be cool. Or maybe have some houses be in the open world and not instanced (only you can change it, nobody else, they can just see) and NPC's can come in an rent a bed for the night because you are selling rooms and it is an inn - it wouldn't be any useful amount of gold generated, it would just be fun lol

Love housing and have won several contests, but not nearly as creative as so many out there! I have several houses that I haven't even touched yet.

But I do get what you're saying as far as a house really isn't necessary as far as a boost or gameplay, but owning a bunch of places all over is also good for fast traveling. But yeah, it is expensive and it's not something you can get into right away but work at like being a grand master crafter. I've been playing for over 6 years and still don't have every plan. I don't do trials and vet dungeons, so I've lost out on some of those furnishings. But it's something to work towards.
