Challenge Difficulty Should Be Simplified

I think Challenge Difficulty should be modified to a simpler 3 level format:

Vestige* Mode (Normal) - Accessible to all players

Adventurer Mode (Intermediate/Hard) - designed for intermediate-level players looking to push their limits in harder content

Master Mode (Advanced) - Most challenging hard mode for the most skilled players with emphasis on strategy over stats. (Leaderboard level)

*Vestige is the first name of all beginner players given by the Prophet. It makes sense to use this as the starter/normal level title.

And here I thought 4 Options that literally tell you what they do would be easy enough to understand...

Well, since the team spent time adding that option to the game, why not make it... right?! Why not make things in a way that allows players to identify themselves with it? Because, after all, the game is for the players, no?

The implemented Option is straightforward and easy to implement.

What would be the point of removing one of the difficulties? Four isn't even that many. Why take away additional player choice after it has been added?

In addition, can you please provide some detail of what you would expect each of your proposed difficulties to contain? If you are suggesting adding additional enemy mechanics to higher difficulties, while I agree this would be nice, this would be a massive undertaking and therefore unlikely to happen. It already took them years to even add the basic slider we have now.

I’m saying OP is totally right.
Right at the start of the game, the Prophet calls you the Vestige, and you start the game in Normal Mode. So, doesn’t it make more sense what OP is saying? Vestige should be the “Normal” mode. I believe that makes sense.
Why does the Prophet call you the Vestige, but in reality, you’re only playing as the “Vestige” if you go into HM?! I mean... what?

What do I mean by “make it right”? Well... let me answer that with a question: What system has ZoS ever released that didn’t need some kind of change? All released systems feel like: “This is working, so just release it.”

Plenty of games label the hardest difficulty as whatever the player is though. Ace Combat's highest difficulty is Ace. God of War's is "Give Me God of War". Ever played Resident Evil 4 on Professional? Does that mean Leon isn't a professional agent if you don't pick that difficulty? No, it just sounds cool. The difficulties are fine. You're still the Vestige on normal difficulty, it's not that deep.

I prefer having four options, because it gives us more choices. As for the name, I don't care what the names are, I just like having the difficulty slider.

It would not have mattered before but people have earned their Vestige titles now so it wouldn't be right to retroactively change them to the lowest tier now.

A Vestige is Is a surviving fragment or sign of a past condition, place, or practice. Once a player escapes the Wailing Prison and does the initial story quests they are no longer a Vestige.

When the player was a Vestige they were at their weakest, which is what Vestige mode is... the player is at their weakest which makes it the most difficult mode.

This. Vestige mode is the most difficult bc Vestiges are supposed to be weak inefficient beings. Nothing more, nothing less. Not necessary to change it all up again.

I like to imagine the canon way to do anything is the hardest difficulty as, well, living and fighting on Tamriel is difficult. So, “Vestige” being the hardest makes sense with my mindset.
