Greenshade story is dumb

You can track my progress in this game by looking at the posts I make about the zones as I encounter them :joy:

But yeah, basically title. What I don't like about it is all this "shadow realm" tomfoolery. It's just the regular world, except (cue exagerating ghosty woo sounds) darker. When really, it's just them finding a way to reuse the same game space a second time. Haven't seen that 100,000 times in gaming before, especially mmo's!

It's like... So dumb. Thanks for reading my 2 septims. I'd have more to complain about but I've skipped so much of the quest dialogue that I can't lol

That part of the story is the weakest part of AD. Listen, I HATE the stupid trope of: gets turned into a skeleton or has to go back in time as a breton or imperial, or gets trapped in a dull/dark version of the map, with an infernal passion. I wanna play as my khajiit in my outfit/weapons, in the normal game, not as some other character or in a washed out version of ESO (looking at YOU, Brackenleaf quest). I'll scream if one of these happens again. And no I don't skip quests, I like to do everything in order so my khajiits' stories feel like a saga, including delves, bosses etc. Also usually these annoying things are shoehorned into a main quest.

I also hate that trope, and I'd rather they just openly use the same space a second time by giving you a reason to go back there than do the shadow realm stuff. However, Greenshade does have fun random side quests. I like the side quest where you have to track down the wood elf's wife who has become a werebear and choose between encouraging him to pray to Hircine to become a werecreature himself, or convince him to kill his wife. I also like the side quest where you decide whether you either help a wood elf get revenge on wood orcs by killing the chieftain's family and putting their heads on pikes, or you try to talk her out of it.

I find the Wilderking/Wilderqueen questline to be the finest in the entire game. :)

How preferences differ... I don't mind any map recycling at all. Be it time travel, visions, dreams... most of the time the story is/was interesting enough for me.

I dont like how we have to make enemy a wilderqueen. That just doesn't any sense. And that other guy traveling with her was hyped up as some kind of uberpowerfull fire mage but fought me with only 2H sword.

P.S. wait till you reach Malabar-tor.

I don't remember making an enemy of the wilderqueen. I remember helping her

You tasked with killing 4 guys from veiled heritance back in auridon but one of them manages to escape to valenwood. You finally catch up to her in greenshade and suddenly you are forced to make her a new wilderqueen.

You're talking about Arianas (https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Aranias). Her full story is a little more nuanced, but she seems to have been predestined to replace the Wilderking. All things considered, this side quest is a redemption arc.

Oh hey! Here it is again - Where the game reuses the same exact game environments except changed a little bit.

This time, in Glenumbra, on my Daggerfall character. I'm doing the Faolchu quest, you know with the werewolves, and now it's asking me to "go back in time" to experience events.

I don't care! I don't want to go back in time, [snip]. But I have to do this to progress the story.

OK, if you don't like Greenshade, I don't know if we can be friends.

I did enjoy that story. Also, there's a side quest in the South East that is really poignant.

The Wilderqueen one? I mean, it was good enough to have caught my attention and I knew what was going on, but it really wasn't anything to write home about in my opinion. Also the Wilderking's "I'm dying" thing seemed contrived. You're a magical entity... thing... you can magic yourself out of being sick, lol

I don’t mind the history scenes in the game. It’s just a different way of telling the story. You’re supposed to be seeing it through their eyes in these scenes when you appear as their character. It’s been a long time since I did those quests, but I do remember that by Malatar Tor I was so sick of wood elves and their Green Pact.
