"Less inappropriate" is a subjective view, your posts are meaningless without telling us what the names were.

Here is an example of how they didn't even follow their own naming rules:
When I was naming my second character after launch I had to alter the spelling of her name because of 4 letters in a row that they found offensive. So I had to add an extra "n" to break up those letters and make it Annalyssa. Yet there is a prominent NPC in game named Vanus Galerion.

That's less about them being inconsistent in enforcement and more a known and basically impossible to completely avoid issue with the automation process.
I'm not saying they're the most consistent but just saying that this particular example is a good example of this problem.

Why did the automation process block the original spelling of my name, which I hadn't even realized what it was until it wouldn't let me use it, but allowed a very similar string of letters for the NPC? NPCs should have to follow the same guidelines as players.
