I have seen a grand total of two troves since this was added to the game, one lead so far. I’m online a good portion of the day but unfortunately none of it is in off peak hours. I hope to complete one of these eventually, there’s no way I’ll get three of them.

Here's a video of my farm loop for Thieves Troves in Abah's Landing. There are 9 troves along the route (1 gets hit twice simply because there's a minor doubleback so might as well look at it again). The loop does enter a Trespass area, so a thiefy toon might help here, but it's at the end so it can be skipped if needed. As well I also make use of the Home Tours to fast travel to the Princely Dawnlight Palace to grab the spawn location right outside of its doors.

Weirdly, my last of the 5 Armory Station leads came by far the fastest. RNG, sheesh. My fourth lead took 15 found troves/60 trove spots checked but empty. My 5th lead happened after 5 found troves, 20 spots checked.

The Dev stream today (June 23) did say that coming U51, they're changing antiquity lead drop chance. Instead of being "high" on the first of three in the codex, the rate will stay the same for all three codex. (Whether that's actually "high" depends, of course.)

But those of us who have been hoarding West Wield, Solstice etc. treasure maps, that will hopefully pay off later this summer/early fall.

Why oh why is the Breton well in the loot pool?
I've had more of these than leads, I tried continuing without scrying for it (20+ troves ish). I got nothing, so I dug it up, 3 out the next dozen or so troves gave it me again.
I'm at 4 out of 5 leads, you really want me to do this twice more for the codex?
My xp is <10% of possible spawn points yield a trove, the number of spawn points I have been to is in the hundreds.
This is not fun, feedback has strongly suggested this for other antiquities, so has the feedback on "competing" for spawns. There are 9 (I think) spawns for a trove in Hewsbane.
The entire server is competing for just one thing in a specific zone with a very limited source.
Why not have the lead drop from ANY trove in the world?
Pretty please, with a cherry on top.
Cherry drop rate to be determined next patch.

Do you mean there are 9 spawn locations? Or there are 9 active troves over the 28+ spawn points? (Counting the troves shown on Thoriorz's screenshot, and the locations I remember actually in Abah's Landing, and thus not on that screenshot).

If the latter (9 active troves over the almost 30 spawn locations) how did you get to that number? Honestly curious, I've never seen an actual number of active spawns of anything listed before. (I'd love to know the number of active psijic portals in S. Elsweyr, for instance!)

Yeah, there are 9 spawn locations in Abah's Landing alone. I've never counted those outside the city but I'd guess at least another 30. Could be wrong though.

When I say 9 spawns I' was using the information from an addon as displayed on the game map
. Lib harvestmap I think it's called?, shout out to them.
Without it this task would be near impossible.
Having looked at eso uesp, i think the total number is 22ish, dont know where I got 9 from , apologies for any misinformation, I was a little fatigued when posting. It appears I either cant count properly or need new glasses.

Month and a half later I’m still farming the 5th lead. 3 purple heist boxes a day and at least 50 troves a day. Must be bugged for me.

Edit: I just got it minutes after posting this. Guess I should have posted on forums sooner.

Heists, yes, get that.
Theives Troves - Glenumbra, Hew’s Bane only? Or do they drop from troves all over Tamriel? This needs to be made clear.

I'm pretty sure it's thieves troves in Glenumbra and Hew's Bane only - not 100% sure, just pretty sure

And from reward crates for Heists.

I haven't received any leads from any other sources.

iirc, there was a post that some1 had a drop at Stromhaven-i tried a few times farming troves there but found nothing
so stick to those 2 place above imo ,good luck

I’ve also finished the 3/3 codex entries for the Thieves Guild Armory Station.
However, I reached this result in a different way.
None of my leads came from thieves troves, partly because I didn't have the patience to farm them, and partly because I wasn't finding anything in them.
Instead, I ran 4 heists a day using two characters (having a friend share the quest with me), from the start of Season One until yesterday, when I finally obtained all 15 leads needed to complete the codex.
I noticed that the 'Antique Lockpicking Kit' lead drops less frequently compared to the other 4

I resorted that I will never get it. I loath heists. My DK grandmaster crafter is better at not being seen than my khajit NB vampire it seems. I don't know why but that girl gets seen at every heist even though I'm totally invisible. I don't know what it is. And every stinking time I go to lockpick in the quest, I sneakily get to it, but it breaks and then it makes me visible. I have everything perked, maxed you name it. Good at stealing in general yes, but for heists, nope. As well as I also have the patience of a flea so that doesn't help. I got two leads so far, try everyday on a couple characters. Forget it.

As for the Heist, Leads can also drop from the blue coffers, so it's not necessary to complete the Heist within the time limit.

I picked up four of the five pieces over the course of about an hour on PTS. I picked up the fifth piece as a tradable lead from one of the Nowhere Vault chests (forget whether end-chest or Nowhere Chest, but one of them), which is what set me chasing after the other four leads. I snooped through most of the Thieves Troves in Hew's Bane for two of the pieces (Dagger and cabinet) and then ran around Glenumbra for the other two (Hood and board) and I was finding one lead roughly very five or six troves. Nowhere close to guaranteed, but still frequent enough to be achievable with a little effort.

Two major concerns, however. First, PTS is generally not well populated, so nobody but me chasing Troves at the time I was doing it, but ZOS locked those leads on the live servers to Troves in two generally well-populated zones, so that will not be what everyone else would experience. Second, you will hear the screams about some other player looting the trove and leaving the lockpicks, which delays/prevents the Trove from respawning.

Maybe ZOS could fix it such that any lead won't drop until the last bit of loot is removed. Leave the lockpicks, leave the lead and maybe the Planar Key and Sai Note, too.
